I was just watching the 1966 heavywight boxing championship between Ali and Chuvalo on espn's classic sports. The fight was held at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto. I am not a student of canadian boxing history. I was wondering if anyone knows of any other heavyweight championship fight held in Canada?
Ali must have had the quickest hands of any heavyweight in history. Chuvalo was never knocked down (about 90 fights).

The only other major heavyweight fight that i can remember of was the second Ali/Chuvalo bout which was held in Vancouver on May 1st, 1972. I remember watching this fight on tv with my parents and wondering why that for once, they weren't cheering for Cassius Clay (Ali). I didn't realize the importance (to Canadians) of the fight. I do not believe it was a title fight, though. I believe either Frazier or Foreman held the title at the time, since it occurred between the Frazier and Foreman 'Rumble in the Jungle' fights.

Indeed, George Chuvalo was never knocked down in his entire career. Ali had nicknamed him 'The Washerwoman', because of his punching style (swinging constantly with lefts and rights to the body). I met him several years ago through a common friend, and Mr. Chuvalo was and remains a true gentleman. He had to live through many family tragedies, sadly. Many of us would never have been able to continue had we been in his shoes.

There was the world welterweight championship, June 30 1980, between
the Panamaian Roberto Duran and Sugar Ray Leonard.

True....and many, many other title fights. However, the gentleman asked for 'heavyweight' championship fights.
