If you like Metal, support those 2 bands from Quebec.

Nordheim : Folk Metal , wich is a very special style, they sing in english with mixed growling, screaming and clean voice, with a viking theme. First album (Lost in the North) was very good, and i just bough the second one(Refill) so i still have to listen to it.

Sanguine Glacialis : Mix of growling with opera voice on melodic metal, really a weird(but good) mix, also singing is both in english and french wich make it pretty unique. I bough this album out of pure "hey cover look cool, ill got it" name "Dancing with a Hangman" and was surprise to see they all had quebec names lol. My 2 favorite tunes are The Bucaneer's Lament and "Alice au Pays des pendues(lol)

    Check them out.

Do you know of any other metal bands with quebec...? I always tough quebec was just full of commercial scrap that play on radio and rap... but we do have metal, and good one, not juste anonymus and moncle Serge. lol

VOIVOD is from Quebec, but I never really listened to them.

A bit off topic, but check out also Crucified Barbara, an all-girl metal band from Sweden.

Huge, huge Metal fan although not a fan of Folk Metal.

Slayer, Motorhead, Iron Maiden, these three bands alone I have seen at least 7 or 8 times each, I have also seen in concert Slipknot, Soulfly, Metallica, Alice Cooper, Dio, Ozzy, Megadeth, Soundgarden, Testament and Voivod to name a few others.

    Halloween Mike:

Do you mind to put links of the best songs the groups you mentioned did? Is this possible? That could be nice.

I like pretty much a wild range of variety of music, and metal is part of my interest, but the melodic ones
And that's also important to me to understand what the singer is saying.

siocnarf : I will check those bands for sure when i get the chance.

Joe : I saw on show : Cradle of Filth(4x) , Cannibal Corpse, Arch Enemy, Slayer/Manson(dual show), Nightwish(Anette Era), Metallica. I want to see Ozzy for sure one day, also would like to see Kiss(even if its not metal really) and Megadeth. I discovered a band name Whitin Temptation lately and after listening to the one album i got(again, loved the cover) i got to buy nearly all albums... lol I want to go see them as soon as they come again.

I like Maiden too, if ocasion happen, would like to see them on show. Would also like to see Cavalera live eventually.

Igna : Thinking about it... if i got the money, but i burn fast when i go see shows... i give myself 100% in trash moshpit and all, not sure i could do 2 full days of it :P But i got to admit band selection seem pretty nice. You going yourself?

    Maria :

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ASh5jWXpWic : The Bucaneer's Lamment
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQZCmDsosso Alice au Pays des pendue live in sherbrooke

I think you may like the melody and the female singer, but the guy is growling so you won't understand what he says.

    And for Nordheim,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UVE-cYilL9A Beer Metal Trolls and Vomit (lol)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QCBamPLxibA Sailling the Drakkar

I really got to see those band, they even come in sherbrooke at Le Magog. I miss Sanguine by a couple months damn, if i knew them before.

    HM:

    Thank you for the links.

I had a look, and that's not totally the beat I prefer in metal for my part, and there is the part of "strange titles" also. (when it is disgusting, talking about vomit)

Like I said, I prefer when the music is more melodic and the words could be understood.

I like the old bands and their ballads, and some songs with faster beat also.

Maybe I can give a link to give you examples, and I know, those are classical.

    Nightwish
I wish I had an angel

    Ozzy
    Crazy train live

    Iron Maiden
    The trooper

    Metallica
    Enter sandman

Alice Cooper ( I like this guy... and his entire "Welcome to my nightmare" album, don't know much his recent work)
    Only women bleed live

Is there a Quebecois group doing this kind of metal? Maybe you are a good person to tell.

Siocnarf: Hey, you Crucified Barbar are good... There's a lot of good group's coming from North Europe in metal

Nordheim are really a bunch of fucké really, and thats why there so cool. There is a vid on youtube showcasing there style, with like a hundred monster can lying on te ground, and waking up with beers... taking piss on the side of a car, stuff like that. They are no class act but thats what make there charm, just a bunch of metalleux fucker comme on les aime.

And i know all those songs very well :P exept Alice Cooper, know the guy but never really listen to it. Ill check it eventually

Ok, I will encourage you by giving you a link of a "special" metal group I heard about, and no, they are not from our continent... hahaha
but they are very imaginative and even, very funny. Their songs could be describe as "happy metal"... hahaha

    Kontrust

    Bomba

    Song n' Doll

PS: Sorry HM, but when it is too much disgusting, I just can't like and approve some artists. Exactly like this one: Piss Christ
I understand the point of view he wanted to demonstrate, but is this not going to far a bit? We are all having our own boundaries, I guess.

Not bad actually, i like funny stuff like that from time to time, i like parody and such. There is also a band called Van Canto, acapella style that does covers of famous songs.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HSpuVsLnl1k Master of Puppets from Metallica

And for that picture, yeah but thats because its wrong morally. Je suis pas pratiquant but would not aprove something like that.

But the band i put the link is just about old time viking songs, its a gimmick, the whole Beer Metal, Trolls thing and vomit is only to make it even funnier. They don't actually vomit on the scene lol.

There's a lot of sexy ads, pics and reviews on this site, but I have to admit finding out that THE Maria Divina likes "The Trooper" has really got me hot and bothered!

I know it says quite a bit about me.... hah!

In fact the only thing I find hotter than that bit of info is this:
