Mélanie Joly seems new and fresh because she's younger, but I don't think she offers anything new in terms of general attitude or core political ideas.
Having square posters with a dark background is just branding to suggest there's something new inside.
I suspect that given time, she'll end up in the exact continuation of past liberal business-first policies, backed by whoever was backing the old ones and serving their interests.
In this election, only Bergeron has a different outlook on things, putting the interests of Montreal's citizens first, and is the only real alternative. Now you may obviously agree or not with his plans, but read them first, you never know!

Another factor, besides policies and ideas, is leadership and the weight to go fight Quebec or Ottawa for decisions made at higher levels which impact Montreal (think Pont Champlain or Turcot), and that's a completely different game.

If the elections took place tomorrow, I would vote for Mélany Joly, hoping that she would bring some new blood, new ideas and more ethics to the city hall. I might change my mind to Bergeron though. I voted for Bergeron in the last elections, without even seeing the guy on TV or anything. Now, he looks like an autocratic person with some radical ideas, that's why I am hesitating. One thing is sure, I will not vote for Denis Coderre, he seems to be ready to do and say anything just to get elected.

These candidates will be tonight at "Tout le monde en parle" show, it will be interesting to see what they have to say.

Melanie Joly will appear on "Tout le Monde en Parle" tonight. I'm not sure that i'll be able to watch her interview since i have too many things to watch at once tonight....Amazing Race, Peyton Manning vs. Andrew Luck, and of course, one of my favorite tv shows....The Walking Dead.

I hate Denis Coderre. Don't really know why. Maybe it's because he claims to have seen a UFO, who knows. Or the b.s. he started in regards to Shane Doan. I've always felt he sounded very phony. But of course, he's a politician after all.

Doc- Melanie Joly in this picture looks a lot like the lady agency owner who used to be known as "Celine" of Celine's Fantasies, 2003-2006. I actually thought it was her for a second when I looked at this pic.

Say what????????

No way!!!! Not even close! I watched Joly tonight being interviewed (along with the three other top candidates) and although she bares a moderate resemblance to someone i've met in the past, in no way does she look like the person you mentionned.

On another note, i'll revise my previous position & after watching the candidates being interviewed on the popular talk show earlier, i'm hoping that Denis Coderre becomes the next mayor. He's experienced in the world of politics, he has good ideas, and out of all the ones running, he might be the one who'll go nose-to-nose with various factions of organized crime.

I caught the second half of today's debate on RDI. Coderre said that he is going to invest in paint in order to solve Montreal public transportation problems. Coderre looks more like a car or an insurance saleman, ready to tell you whatever is dear to your ears until you buy his product (or vote for him in this case). I am not willing to trust him.

Bergeron would be the one who could his best try but...

None of those 4 have what it takes to clean the dirt.
It's basically the same at the provincial level and federal 2.

Right now, there's no one who can really turn the tide and create something out of the mess Canada, Quebec and at a lower level like Montreal is.
And I am not even talking about TO where the driver seat is permanently 'vacant' :)

So since no one has what it really takes... your best bet is to vote for someone 'Joly'.
At least she will be nice to look at... when it's about politics in Montreal.

Coderre looks like the one that can do the most good for the city, Joly is the only one I would want a BJ from.

The problem is that Joly's team seems to be new in politics. I will still vote for her as the next mayor of Montreal and vote for Projet Montreal's candidate for the borough's mayor position.

The funniest candidate in these elections is Michel Brûlé, hands down. He claimed, last week, that there are not that many anglophones in Montreal as the number of "les Britanniques" is very limited here. And Mr Brûlé does not include Canadians of Irish descent in the anglophones set, because the official language of Ireland is Gaelic and not English, still according to him.
