Man you don't pop creatine out of the blue and hope it would simply work. First off, make sure you do have enough protein intake throughout the day for undertaking other supplements. Secondly, creatine is not for everyone, some will loose water, to others it can have adverse effects. Lastly, make sure it's from a good brand. There has been horror stories with cheap creatine and ingredients that should have not been included.
Okay, taking creatine requires a load-up phase, meaning you need to take for a few days, double the portion. One before breakfast, at fast, and another after training. Then after your loading phase completed take before and after training. Creatine has been known to be effective with high glycemic index carbohydrates – in other words sugar. And it is fine to take right after training.
Be ready to loose water as you take creatine, so make sure you have a bottle of water with you all day.

too bad

Tks Bruce & Oliver,
It would be good to ask before buying this things. :(
Then, what do you recommend to gain weight?
what should I eat or which kind of supplement do you recommend?

Did any of us have seen the movie of "the machinist", with the guy that appears in "Batman the begin" as Batman. This guy was extremely slim, he was in bones and now, wow, in batman he looks in shape.
how he do that?

What Bruce34 and Oliver said. I'll add a couple of my own opinions.

It does work well but don't take more than 5 grams per day, and I suggest only taking it 5 days per week.

Ignore what they say about "loading" days, where they advise you to take 20 grams in a day once per week. It doesn't do anything and I suspect that regimen is really a marketing ploy.

It puts water directly into the muscle fibers (or something like that) so you should drink LOTS AND LOTS of water when you're taking it. Otherwise you could run into kidney and dehydration problems.

Don't use it for more than a year or so (you'll probably get tired of it, anyway).

Drink LOTS of water.

Get the plain powder kind and mix it with grape juice (more economical).

It's said to have a negative effect on libido and I would agree.

Drink LOTS AND LOTS of water.

I used it for a while back when I was lifting weights and got good results but, honestly, I have gotten better results building muscle by doing push-ups without using creatine.

My personal experience with creatine is not to take it when I have an alcohal filled weekend in Montreal coming up-it makes the hangover worse. I try to stop a week or two before a binge drinking weekend to get the creatine levels in my body back to normal.

It is also good not to take for an extended period of time so you don't get some false gains that go away after you stop taking it. I try to alternate months that I take it. On month on/one month off.

Extensive Stretching, but not of your love muscle

I do not personally take creatine since I found with other supplements that after I stopped taking them I would lose whatever advantage they gave me, or cause undesirable side effects. Ripped Fuel almost gave me a heart attack even though I was taking less than the daily dosage recommendation on the bottle. Weight gainers gave me horrible flatulence, and other lifting partners of mine tried supplements that gave them cramps, abdominal pain, bloating, diarrhea, and frequent urination.

I believe Creatine is taken to shorten recovery time in between workouts allowing you to workout harder. Oliver can feel free to correct me on that if I have been misinformed.

Your choice is entirely up to you, I would merely point out to you that the most important thing you can do to help ease muscle pain, enhance muscle performance and growth is Stretching. Only after starting training in Martial Arts did I recognize the importance of this and see the benefits. I would encourage you to read "The Art of Expressing the Human Body" by Bruce Lee. He shares in the book his workout routines, diet, and special insights on how he achieved superhuman strength, endurance, and speed.

sorry..

I'm sorry to enter this discussion, but why do you want to get bigger? IMHO, men should not get bigger unless they met a love of their life and she wants them to get bigger. Healthwise I think whoever weighs more that 100 lbs should be happy.

Anyway, I was experimenting with creatine and steroids. Both were fun but had consequences. I found that whenever I took creatine I would get a weird mild headache until it's out of my system. At the same time I felt light like a feather. Workouts became a lot easier and I could lift heavier weights. Walking was like some magical forces pushed me off the ground. I felt like a superwoman. But these annoying headaches ruined everything and I stopped taking it. I lost whatever weight I gained.

With steroids workout was not easier but the muscle weight gain was faster. I quit immediately because I felt extreme irritability and anger towards family and friends. People who were taking steroids as well told me it was all in my head but I am still convinced it was steroids because I never felt this way before or after that incident. Like with creatine I lost weight as soon as I quit.

I love occasional natural workout. According to my theory men should not work out in the gym because their body is naturally muscular. I see all these big men in the gym and I ask myself 'why?'. They look at me thinking they are too good for me. But in fact I don't see myself ever be attracted to a gym junkie. I love my men soft and tender but for some reason they are ashamed to be that way..

also sorry...

Carla,

I'm sorry to interrupt your hijack of this thread, but if you're wondering why men want muscular bodies, look no further than the nearest strip club featuring male dancers. In my limited experience, one of the remarkable things about these clubs is that nearly all the men working there look exactly the same: huge pecs, rippling biceps, waxed and tanned bodies. The variety of male body types at these clubs is pathetically small compared to, say, the range of female body types you'll find at Cleo's. I mean, good luck finding a skinny male stripper with a hairy chest.

This must say something about female tastes in men: these are the men that women pay to see and touch, and presumably these are the men that female customers find attractive. So either women are more narrow-minded when it comes to appreciating the bodies of the opposite sex, or strip clubs are not a good gauge of people's tastes.

ROFL
:D
Being muscular helps energy levels, helps self confidence, and helps fight against the aging process.
Some women really go for the 6 pack flat board stomach.

Bruce Lee had the most awesome balance of muscles to his frame. Thanks for the book.

Hmmm I could use some gym time... HockeyFan pats the little beer belly that is forming.

Snark, I've never been to a male strip club as a principle. But from my stripper friend I've heared the following. There are only a couple of male for women strip clubs in Montreal. They can be compared to club Downtown where all the bodies are nearly perfect and there is no variety. The rest of the clubs are either gay or for mixed audience. There men range easily from 120 to 230 lbs. In fact I have another friend who is 120 lbs and he used to be a very popular stripper. From yet another stripper in Adonis I've heared that the management requires them not to shave their body 'because the ladies prefer some hair'.. Finally a whole bunch of Adonis strippers regularly comes to Cleos. I was amazed how thin some of them were. Half of them were no more that 150 lbs..

I never said that a hanging belly is sexy. It is both not sexy and not healthy. To me a man who spends 6 hours a day at the gym and injests horse amounts of supplements is unhealthy..

Then again I honestly don't know what persentage of women prefers extremely muscular men. If I'm the minority there would be more tender men left for me!

gizmo update

It is interesting to see the evolution of this thread, everything started with a simple dosis for my creatine and Carla enter to the discussion as the unexpected swirl in the movie.

For the ones interested, today I choose to left the creatine and continue only with my ultra vitamines dosis. I found that even I felt stronger and surprinsingly in good humour, my body looks better without these things.
So I will continue my simple daily routine (improved with the kind advises of Oliver) and good alimentation+my vitamines.

The Snark-she is a stripper gets money from men and will not pay to see a man naked id assume

carla a few questions to you
creatine is in many forms--the side effects your talked about are not commom
usually its gut and muscle cramps.
the older types need a carrier to get uploaded into the system- fruit juice
i took one of the newer ones and probably the best from what ive been told
the older ones you would retain a lot of water and upon stopping lose it so up and down hard on the system--the noz i took had arginine which makes the muscles hard and glutamine which helps for repair. and only cold water required for the mix.
you can also take in pill form also
do you rememebr the make you took
and what was the dosage you took
i took 3 grams the minimum for 11 weeks

also carla you claim to have taken steroids
did you use
orals or injectables
or did you stack
do you remember the name of the product and the dosage you took
was the product highly androgenic or low
taking steroids what was your reason and how long did you cycle for

like every woman who ever took steroids they had clitoral enlargment
and deeping of the voice--did you experinace this
oliver

This is actually only a small part of the principle. I do go to women strip clubs and pay for lapdances. The principle is I don't find it enjoyable watching men dancing naked. I think they should demonstrate other things to conquer women's hearts, such as intelligence, ability to be a carrying gentleman and ability to be a good lover..

As for the chemicals I took it was 2 years ago so I don't remeber the brands. I was taking creatine for 2.5 months. It came in a powder form and I mixed I think 2 teaspoons twise a day with juice. It was called something similar to creatine hydrobromide, the pure creatine. I'm sure it wasn't hydrobromide but something similar. I was warned about abdominal/muscle cramps but I never got them. It made me retain a lot of water and I combined it with some pills that made me sweat more during workout but I still gained about 10-15 lbs..

Steroids I only took twise mixed with juice too. It belonged to my friend so wouldn't know the brand. Aren't steroids illegal anyway? I think the kind I took was highly androgenic if it means that for a couple of days I was very angry and felt like a man, wanted to hurt and kill everybody.. I took them for fun and probably will never do it again unless they come up with a new kind..

P.S. Maybe clitoral enlargement would be interesting since I have the smallest clit in the world.. At least nobody was ever able to find it.. :D

Carla,

Thank you for your frank and honest answers. I'm glad to know that pencil-necked nerds like myself still have a place in some women's hearts!

Now back to regularly scheduled programming.

Excuse me Snark, you will need to send me an updated picture of yourself. On the last picture you don't seem to have a 'pencil neck'. Speaking of necks I'm into thin necks. It is part of the reason I don't like men who frequent the gym. Most of the upper body weight lifting seems to enlarge the neck muscles..

Again like I said being a good lover and having physical advantages are two different things. Good lover is simply someone who feels good.

OK, that might be a joke as well.
