Montreal's Eugenie Bouchard in Australian Open Semifinals

    http://espn.go.com/tennis/aus14/stor...pen-semifinals

I am really surprised that there is a beautiful French Canadian girl from Montreal in the Australian Open semis and nobody is talking about it. She is only 19 and has a great future. She is from Westmount and trained at some tennis academy in Montreal.

Saw the whole match...and what a match it was! She played great...never lost her composure...and she has powerful strokes that overtook Ivanovic in the latter half of the 2nd and 3rd sets.
Hope she can get by Li Na in the semis!

She has quite a following and the press down under loves her! She has magnetism and is a fun girl! And she makes Quebec ad Canada proud.
Her ratings are going to go through the roof! And the Habs are going to take a back seat to her in the next few days!

She actually has done most of her tennis training in Florida since the age of 12, which is why she's now mostly fluent in english. The first time i heard her speak french....broken french, that is....i wondered why this was so. I figured maybe her parents being from Westmount were anglophones. Not so. I learned she had spent most of her adolescent years in Florida and since then has spent only a couple of years or so in Mtl.

She's being trained by renowned tennis coach Nick Saviano, whom she's known since the age of 12 when she moved to Florida.

Many young tennis prodigees such as Genie Bouchard and Maria Sharapova wind up moving to Florida at a young age in order to broaden their considerable tennis skills. Sharapova has lived there since the age of 7. Many of today's current stars, both men and female, have known one another since childhood. For example, Canadian tennis star Milos Raonic recently was eliminated at the Australian Open by Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov. Dimitrov, who also happens to be Maria Sharapova's boyfriend, is close friends with Raonic, no doubt having known one another since an early age. Both Dimitrov and Raonic are looked upon as being part of tennis' future and i believe Dimitrov is currently in the quarterfinals.

She probably had her worst match of the tournament in regards to unforced errors. It was unbelievable how none of them at one point could hold their serve. But Bouchard has more power behind her shots and had Ivanovic running all over the court, which eventually took its toll considering Ivanovich had been battling a hip problem throughout the match. And consider how her thigh was taped throughout the tournament, i'm guessing she's also been battling a hamstring problem. However, Ivanovic played great against Williams and played amazingly well last night against Bouchard. She seems confident and appears to have regained her form from severeal years ago. It was the first time i'd ever cheered against Ana, whom i've been following since the day i met her in Mtl at the Dumaurier Cup 5-6 years ago. Today the tournament is called the Rogers Cup.

Bouchard will be in tough against Li Na of China, who is an amazing strokes player and very quick on the court. There aren't many shots that she can't reach, and that's why she's one of the top-seeded. Bouchard will have to considerably improve on her first serves if she wants to be competitive against the higher-seeded Na, and will have to cut down on her unforced errors. Li Na isn't Ana Ivanovic.

By the way, i wasn't impressed with Bouchard when she answered she'd like to date Justin Bieber. Hopefully she was joking.

p.s. But what a stupid question to ask her. Would they have asked the same question to a male player or any female player who wasn't as attractive as Bouchard? instead, she should have answered Jack Nickolson, Donald Trump or Hugh Heffner just to shock the crowd.

    Doc,

Her wiki says she went to The Study School and Westmount High School:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eugenie_Bouchard

The Study School is K-11 and Westmount High School is 9-12 (I presume). Thus her wiki implies that all of her formal education occurred in Montreal and specifically in Westmount. Which as far as I know is mostly an Anglo/Jewish section of Montreal.

    MG,

She is 5'10" and 128 pounds and has serious legs. She is very attractive. A future star for sure.

Well, i heard it from her own mouth on several talkshows that she left Mtl for Florida when she was 12 and had only been back to Canada for a couple of years during her teens, so who knows. It's possible that she spent the fall/winter seasons in the States where she attended school and the tennis academy, and returned to Canada once school was over during the spring/summer months, and resumed tennis training there, and back to Florida once summer was over.

Even her coach Nick Saviano has indicated in interviews that she's been a pupil of his since the age of 12 when she attended his tennis academy. However, i believe she left his tutorship for a few years and was coached by former french tennis star Natalie Tauziat. She went back to Saviano a year ago, i believe. So it's entirely possible that Tauziat was her coach when she went back to Canada for a few years.

But if you'd be french, you'd notice that when she speaks french, it's in very broken french, meaning she likely hadn't spoken much french since she left Canada at the age of 12.

She is indeed attractive and has great long legs. I believe she dated Bruins prospect Jordan Caron last year. One of the young habs prospects made a pass at her (via twitter) last fall and she basically told him to get lost and that she had her sights on Jordan Caron.

Not just her laugh, but her facial expressions (and well, overall face as well) and long lean legs as also............. looks A LOT like her. Lets hope Eugenie continues to find success and becomes the face of all things Montreal Sports as it should not be hard now that Calvillo is retired and Subban will be leaving for not only riches, but to a team that will actually appreciate him.

    Eugenie Bouchard = Hot!

Just heard a radio interview with Eugenie's Father who confirmed that they did move the family to Florida when she was 12 to pursue her tennis career. She has trained there since then.

Eugenie Bouchard's WTA bio lists her birthplace, and residence, as Montreal, but states that she does most of her training in Florida and some in Montreal:

"family lives on same street as former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney"

Anyone know what street that would be?

Actually she resembles Hannah more than she does Sophie.
