Should this come as a surprise? USA can mock us and say we are a cheap version of themselves... in there heart they know Canada is a better place :)

As for North Korea... LOL well i don't even understand how such a country can be existing in 2014... i mean in 1939 i could understand... but today... nop
As for the middle east... well they have no problem killing themselves to kill us... so yeah i would not go play there either.

Right On!

If you had asked me to guess before reading this article, my guess would have been the UK, Australia and Canada in that order.

Anyone "Down Here" with even a mildly liberal political bent has thought more than once about moving North, especially given the state of our so-called Congress. Consider the root meaning of that word and compare to what we really have. Very sad.

I too love Canada, especially Montreal -- because of her natural beauty, culture, lovely people and the best Hobbyland in the world, even better than what you find in the EU! Montreal SP's GFE has no rivals! Amsterdam is good food a good quickie!

Eager ...
Did you really think the UK and Australia would be ahead of us?

Yes. I don't think those countries have exactly become viewed as politically unstable. I think they are viewed favorably in part because they are a little more different from us than Canada is, both in the way they speak our common language, and culturally. So part of the favorable view is due to intrigue. Canada is too much like us. We are the only two countries in the world that cherish extremely violent sports (football and hockey), a fact that was mocked by the Netherlands speed skating coach who accused us of wasting athletic talent on violent sports.

My point is that Canada is not really viewed as a foreign country by most Americans. A lot of Americans believe it is not even necessary to have a passport to go to Canada, and I have seen this attitude manifested at the border with my own two eyes. Also note that we share professional sports leagues with Canada (NBA, MLB, NHL). Only the NFL does not have a Canadian franchise.

England and Australia are also perceived as different in part because they speak English much differently than Americans and Anglo-Canadians. People tend to be intrigued by English and Aussie accents but not by Anglo Canadian accents which sound more like our own speech. They are legit foreigners - they have different cultures and traditions, at least moreso than the differences we have with Canadians.
