Is it because the many liberal supporters of King Obama are finally waking up to his naivety and ignorance and finally are embarrassed by their choices ?

Just to refresh your memories my liberal friends.Few years ago Ukraine voluntarily gave up its nuclear arsenal it inherited from the former USSR. In exchange, it only asked for economical assistance and a promise for its territorial integrity. With today's predicament, I bet they regretted this decision.

According to the Kremlin propaganda, Russia invaded part of Ukraine in order to protect Russian minorities who live in Crimea. Fair enough. I bet in the next few weeks and months, you will hear some of King Obama supporters that this issue does not really concern the US and maybe we ought to appease Tzar Putain. I don't know folks, I am sure I've seen this episode before while watching the History channel. The details are sketchy, but I remember words like Poland and Hitler.

If I was Japan, I would be scared now , very scared of China. After WW2, Japan was told not to have any army. In exchange, Uncle Sam promised it will protect it. Will it? I doubt it. If I was Japan, I would develop my own nuclear arms.

If I was Taiwan, I would be scared now , very scared of China. After all, isn't Taiwan historically part of China? What will stop China from claiming back its territories? Surely, not the US army that King Obama just cut in half.

How about the Falklands islands, or the Islas Malvinas as referred to by our espagnol speaking friends? These are historically Argentinian territories off its coast and not British. Lady Thatcher is long gone now, replaced by a British version of Obama.

I can go on and on. But , I will stop here. Go ahead, call us we the critics of King Obama 'war mongers'. But If you read history, you will see that it is better to have few militarily conflicts taking place once few years (in order to let steam out -sort of speak) than to have an all blown out World War.

RIP Ronald Reagan. RIP Lady Thatcher. RIP Pope JP II . They defeated the evil Soviet Union. Sadly, King Obama revived it.

Hillary C. in 2016, y'all.

You make several excellent points. I was in Kiev on business couple of years ago (the girls are off the charts hot). It was just after a recent election of their president that was just ousted. My limo driver was telling me and my associates that no one would admit to voting for the bastard and they couldn't figure out how he got elected. He said that the guy was ex-KGB. He predicted that there would be trouble. I have little confidence in Obama to solve this. I hope and prey I am wrong.

These are aftershocks of the USSR break up. It is a brink of a civil war pure and simple. Hope it can be avoided. Ukraine was part of Russia for more than 300 years and never existed as independent state before. There is not a lot of difference between them, not more than between Quebec and Ontario or Texas and Massachusetts. And for those who demand the strong response from Obama, please remember that just one Russian bummer has enough stuff to obliterate half of the North America: 16-20 ICBMs with 3-10 MIRVs, 150-300 kT each, please do the math. There is nothing more dangerous than a wounded bear that has nothing to loose...

This is what John Kerry had to say this morning : "You just don't in the 21st Century behave in 19th Century fashion by invading another country on completely trumped up pretext." LMFAO!!!

Let's see how tough the Americans are now when facing a real super power. Go Putin go!!!

The Ukrainians are a different people with a different language. True, the Russians have been integrated with the Ukrainians for a long time, and the break up of the USSR was the first time they had a chance to be independent as a nation / people. But that does not give Russia the right to retake the Ukraine.

Do you speak Russian and Ukrainian? I bet you speak British, Australian and this weird New Zealand dialect lol, it’s the same thing. Russian and Ukrainian are more or less dialects of the same language and especially Ukrainian that is spoken in the central and eastern part of Ukraine. The problem between Russia and Ukraine as I understand it is not to have Ukraine as an independent but to sort out borders and relations which was not done at the moment of the USSR break up. It is like divorce of a couple that have say 25 years of marriage, kids, property etc. It is a difficult problem and the challenge is to sort it out peacefully and amicably. The rough intervention in this dialog by the world powers looking for their own interests make situation worse, not better.

I know why!

It's because it's an escort review board. You're making it sound like we're not doing our civic duty by not talking about Ukraine here.

Also to the above post: anyone rooting for Putin is either too stupid to realize what type of person he is and is getting blinded by his bare hunting chest, or is against democracy and freedom. I've come across many people who support him because he marches to his own drum.

So a nation can takeover another one because they speak roughly the same language.

Interesting, please elaborate on this non-sense for my own personal amusement.

Putin is an amazing leader that is outmaneuvering the Grifter in the White House. Obama will only fight with the Republicans and sides with the Muslim Brotherhood. The Middle East is a disaster thanks to Obama, Hillary Clinton , anh John Kerry.

Obama is Jimmy Carter the Second.

So just invade or go to war against every country that goes against your wishes, cause we all know how that turns, and in this particular case it's another superpower. Fantastic!! Where do you sign up!!

Oh Boy,

Is it because the many liberal supporters of King Obama are finally waking up to his naivety and ignorance and finally are embarrassed by their choices ?

No, it's because Mod8 banned all American political talk because the inability of members to post without personal attacks and because of agenda driven bias like yours using events to blame one side or the other. If you understood what you are talking about you wouldn't be pulling out the same garbage and blaming any American for Russian history and political motives no American has ever controlled.
BTW...my view of President Obama is not very supportive, so the usual liberal liberal liberal desperation would be ignorant.

You make several excellent points.

No, it's a litany of a certain type of fear mongering.

The Ukraine has always been one of the most productive regions of the old Russian conquered dominions and as such it's always been coveted and fought over for thousands of years, before there was a Russia or America, by many groups and nationalities including Russians, Poles, Cossacks, Lithuanians, Germans, Vikings, Mongolians, Huns, Gepids and many others. Stalin forced mass migrations of Ukrainians and ended up starving millions who resisted in the 1930s. He did that because the value of the Ukraine made it too attractive not to, and because dictators would seize the opportunity anyway.

The Russians in particular having been moving in for several centuries since the first Czars and before them, and have infused the land with significant populations. Now they can use the good old argument of protecting their people to make claims. It's the same frequent ancient excuse strategy pretty much ever group has used from the beginning of history.

To say this is in any way President Obama's fault ignores Russian history, the history of the region long before there was anyone called an American, and especially who Putin really is. It wouldn't matter much what any country does or who is in charge elsewhere, he'd still be trying to rebuild the old Russian/Soviet Empire. I personally know some Russian nationals who became American citizens largely and specifically because of their hatred of Putin. Take notice that these people I refer to are Russians, not Ukrainians, Georgians, Estonians, etc. Yes, many of Putin's own people despise him because of what he is. One Russian woman born just south of Moscow wouldn't even let me mention the Sochi Olympics because of how deeply she feels against him.

So all this blaming Obama is a lot of BS BAH! Putin will try to do as he pleases.

Go ahead, call us we the critics of King Obama 'war mongers'. But If you read history, you will see that it is better to have few militarily conflicts...

So....you are not a "war monger" but you have no problem having a "few militarily conflicts taking place once few years (in order to let steam out -sort of speak)"...well...you sure aren't intellectually connected to what you are against and the contradiction of what you are for.

Another perfect example of why these threads were closed.

BTW...Guido. Reagan began his presidency trading arms to Iran for the release of the hostages. Doesn't that equate with your view of siding with the Muslim Brotherhood. :thumb:

Octavian, you are rooting for a ruthless ex-head of the KGB. Do you realize that?

Thanks for standing up against such criminal irresponsibility.

Right on target. But there's nothing wrong with decent discussion otherwise as long as it's respectful and not the same old litany of polarized personal attack demagoguery.

Cheers,

Merlot

I disagree. Yes, this is an escort review board but it is so much more than that. The reason why MERB is better than most review boards is because they have a hotel thread, restaurant thread, and just about everything imaginable thread. Starting a thread about the Ukraine may not have anything to do with escorts in Montreal, but IMHO it's worth bringing it up.
Negative Obama comments aside, centaurus brings up an interesting topic for discussion.

Lily is right. Anybody knows about policy on sex work of the new Ukrainian government? Our support or rejection of the new Ukrainian “revolution“should be based solely on this, lol. If it is right, it could be a very attractive destination judging on the quality of the talent. On the other hand, the bad economical situation in Ukraine will help us to see this talent in North America. Go figure...

Merlot is right. Putin represents Russia as much as Obama or George Bush US. Putin represents just one and not very broad strata of the Russian society. There is also a considerable opposition to Putin in Russia among middle class. It is generally wrong to identify a large and diverse country completely by its current leader be it Obama, Bush or Putin. In spite of seemingly strong standing I think Putin will not stay as a Russian leader for very long if there is any armed skirmish between Ukraine and Russian forces as both Russians and Ukrainians have little tolerance for a civil war. It would be the end of Putin.
