    My 2 cents

Be glad that you are involved in a Democracy.....joke as you call it. There are still many in the world who do not have the ability nor the right to cast a ballot and take part in the decision making process called democracy. I'm sure if asked they would love to be in the position that you so take for granted !

It's not even a real "Democracy." Two years ago I went out to start a political party because I still believed in the process, got the signatures and everything else that was required and posted them off to Elections Canada and was denied a listing because my party's platform was too closely related to National Socialism even though it was not anti-Semitic (Note : You can openly be a Communist party regardless of the fact that Communism is responsible for millions of deaths worldwide, go figure). So, even though I did everything that was required of me I was still denied the right to participate in Canadian Politics because my party was not a mirror image of every other party. That's all we have, one choice, the same party with slight differences in policy proposals. Freedom of choice? Puh-lease. It's an illusion.

I plan to do it again, but, I need a whole new list of signatures (and they can't be duplicates) and find the patience to fill out the forms and blah blah blah. The run around basically.

Being a bit wiser to this sham (that's what it is) I plan to just make cookie cutter proposals just like every other party does and then once I am registered, do as I originally planned all along.

There are a lot of pissed off soldiers coming back from Afghanistan, I will use that to my advantage this time around.

(You should lecture them about how great Democracy is. LOL!)

Oh it's a democracy alright. In a diverse body politic of 33 million people, successful political parties will look for broad appeal among those 33 million - this is the so-called "centre". Successful parties seek out the centre. Off-centre parties remain at the margins.

I call BS on this one. Political parties do not have to file or even reveal their platform when registering with Elections Canada.

    1. You keep telling yourself that. You have more or less the illusion of choice. But sure, we can seek out the center and use the sham to get rid of it.

    2. "The leader's declaration in the prescribed form that having considered all the factors relevant to determining the party's purposes, one of the party's fundamental purposes is to participate in public affairs by endorsing one or more of its members as candidates and supporting their election."(http://www.elections.ca/content.aspx...t=index&lang=e)

And there is more than that.

Go brush up a little on Canada's "vibrant" Democracy.

I never do. It's not whose in office that bugs me, it's the (sham) Democratic system itself that I despise.

    Keep beating that dead horse!
