Hi New York,

If you don't have a lot of time on your hand, the place is not bad because you have all different options as menu. If you go there at lunch time during the week, you could have problem to find a place to sit because many of the people working in towers close by go there during their lunch time plus you have the travelers waiting for their train also who go there.

Another option, if you are looking for that kind of lunch, is at ''Place Ville-Marie'' who have the same kind of court or the McDonald in front of ''Place Bonaventure''. Also, across the street from ''Place Bonaventure'', there is ''Le 1000 La Gauchetière'' who has also of some counters, just beside the ice rink.

If you prefer chains, there is a ''Rotisserie St-Hubert'' on La Gauchetière beside de ''Bell Center'' at ''Windsor Train Station'' or inside the ''Bell Centre'' there is ''La Cage Aux Sport''.

Les halles de la gare

Yes it's Bonaventure train station: Les Halles de la Gare.

A picture of the place can be found here:
http://image05.webshots.com/5/6/2/65/107060265EPthEA_ph.jpg

There is so much choices there that you can spend a few days trying all the foods. Although I do go for the General Tao chicken at the chinese resto, there's a good pub for after work with buddies at Daily Planet.

Here is what tourisme Montreal says about the place:
http://www.tourisme-montreal.org/Media_Target/News/EN/HTML/133_EN.asp?cookie_test=1

"If you want to see Montreal fast food at its best, spend an hour in Les Halles de la Gare in Central Station. In contrast to the grease courts of Toronto, here, in a railway station, is Kababgy serving freshly prepared Middle Eastern fare from fatouche to falafel, La Extacion going nouvelle Mexican with black bean and smoked jalapeno soup and a showy Première Moisson that would have you packing foie gras mousse for a Via Rail picnic.

The ultimate forum for Montreal food remains, of course, the restaurant about 5,000 of them from fast-food to the hottest haute. Montreal lays bold claim to "the best table in North America."

Some things never change: Chez La Mère Michel and Les Halles have been around since the glory days of Expo 67 without losing their touch. L'Express (3927 St. Denis St., 514-845-5333), a sky-lit bistro painted in Provence yellows, with aproned waiters and mirrors for spying on fellow diners, does the Parisian model proud on its better days."

Enjoy Montreal while you can and avoid those bait-and-switch agencies!
