That's according to one writers opinion. Personally I would probably never go back to the Android OS because I had nothing but problems compared to my iOS. I'm now holding out for the iPhone 6 which is due out in the fall.

Also as far as Samsungs go the Galaxy Note 3, I think it's called, looks pretty fucken awesome but as I said I'm in no hurry to go back to Android.

http://www.itworld.com/mobile-wireless/407708/samsung-galaxy-s5-versus-iphone-5-which-best-you

I have had a galaxy 2 since it came out and will get the 5 when I get back to civilization. I visited many phone providers when I search for a phone and ask the sales people which phone they would buy if they had a choice and 80% said the galaxy. I am far from a techie to know what is the best but hate Apple with their " Only works with Apple " software. And as the link says G-5 wins. But that is just 1 persons opinion :)

I have a friend who works for Bell. The technicians on the road (4000)have been using laptops for 15 years to get all their work done.Last year the company put a crew of 10 people to try every phone on the market to replace the laptops. They chose samsung note 3 . For me that enough I don<t have to ask all my friends who have (personal issues) with every make on the planet to chose the GOOD cell.

I bought the Galaxy S4 last year, when in came out. I was tempted by all the cool goodies it offered (videos that stop playing when you turn your head away, the phone turning off when you stop looking at it, the reading lense feature...). Now, I hardly use any of those features and actually disabled some of them, it gets annoying to see the browser scrolling down automatically because I happened to nod slightly. On the other hand, I love the 5 inches display of the S4, iPhones look tiny. Like Sol, I am also not that willing to buy products from a company that is royally f..ing its customers.

That being said, and given the fact that tech companies usually plan a couple of years in advance, we are probably seeing the last products from the Steve Job's era. I am not expecting much innovation from Apple in the coming years and this company will lose, once again, its magic.

they pitted it against the galaxy S series. it hasn't been great since S3. S4 was ok, S5 is more of the same. with that said, the note over the S series right now

and if the 5s was pitted against the M8, it'd be no contest, the One M8 wins

anyway, can't wait to see what apple will come up with the 6 and what google will come up with the nexus

Samsung loads too much stuff on their phones so you end up with barely any useable memory out of the box. You have to add a MicroSD and even then some versions are locked so you cannot move apps to the SD cards, just music and photos which still leaves you with a memory problem especially if you like installing lots of games. The LG is a better option to the Samsung IMO for someone looking for Android.

Although the iPhones seem awesome, at least 50% of the people I know end up cracking the glass at some point... seems way too fragile...

You have to put an iPhone in an otter box. If you are just using the phone with no shell it is basically like yanking a turtle out of his shell and making him play- he is gonna get hurt.

I have no problem with the iPhone and never take it out of the otter box. The people who crack the glass are roughousing with the phone and/or using the phone with no shell which is basically inviting disaster.

Last summer I retiled my kitchen and living room. The tile guy disappeared for about 10 days and I did not hear a word from him. He finally calls me and I see his number on the phone and I asked him what happened. "Oh the iPhone slipped out of my shirt pocket when I leaned over, and slid into a bucket of grout, and with all the jobs I had I could not get a new phone until now." It did not surprise me because he had actually left his phone at my house a few times. A cowboy- great tile guy but a cowboy who probably went through a few phones per year.

Totaly agree with EB . I had 3 iphones and replaced at least once for each one the digitizer glass.... I got a other box defender and so happy with you can't believe . Dropped on the cement from at least 5 times and from 5 feet or higher , it bounced like it was nothing to it :)) Its worth the price because a new digitizer glass cost the same or more to replace and at the end you can sell back your phone without a scratch

Hmmm,

You say 50%? More like 80%+. Where I work I've seen literally hundreds of them over time. It's hard to find even a newer one that has seen a couple of months use that doesn't have a cracked glass, and every single damaged one had an OTTER BOX that made no difference at all. The I4s and I5s I've held are heavy for their size and the weight adds to the problem when the device impacts on something solid or makes hard contact in many situations, especially when it seems like there's been no attempt to use a shatter proof glass. Many that I have seen have massive spider web cracks and some are so badly cracked the glass was removed. This has been going on so long it seems like policy to enhance obsolescence and repurchases.

My Samsung with Android 2.3 is now 2 years old. I rarely ever drop it, but it's very light and the glass seems shatter proof as there isn't the hint of a flaw anywhere after all of that time. I show people my phone in comparison to their IPhone and they are stunned at how pristine it is...never mind the look on their faces when I mention it's age.

I get it that the real point is all the options these devices can provide. But unless you are giving up your computer for these what is the point of having so many things you can do that are redundant on your laptop. Is this about having a bigger and better dick than others or about what you really need when you are on the move to make life better, easier, more productive and enjoyable? As limited as my Samsung might be by comparison to anything else it does all I need it to do and more.

Even with the well rubberized otter box and additional corner buffers over that I'm still seeing broken glass and damaged units. Isn't the fact that you are replacing anything and the need for a thick otter box indicative of a problem that should not exist? My Samsung has a simple thin flexible low stretch plastic cover and I've never had any kind of damage issue, ergo replacement need, whatsoever.

Don't get me wrong I do love the Iphone features since I'm an APP addict too. But, most would just be there useless and unnecessary, and with the breakage issues where's the real gain?

Cheers,

Merlot

I've had several Droid phones over the years. Being a PC guy I was more comfortable with the operating system. That is, until I got my first IPhone. All I can say is that I wish I had listened to my buddy who suggested that I get an IPhone years ago. So much easier to use, does so many things automatically, just an absolute pleasure to use. My buddy told me years ago that there are two kinds of guys, those who have IPhones and those who wish they did.

Hmmm,

The options I mentioned do not apply to laptops. I don't use those camera-related options, though maybe others find them useful.

I try not to be on the Internet when I am outside (as I am plugged to the Net almost all the time). I try rather to enjoy those alien activities like watching people, nature...

As you are comparing smart phones to laptops. I mostly use my iPad2 in order to consume content from the Internet when I am home. I don't use my laptop much, except for work. Tablets are great because we don't have to wait for them to boot and they have a good display.

I don't like all the bloatware that comes with the galaxy. I found some applications to get rid of all the useless apps pre-installed by Samsung. I did not try them yet.

I had 2 coworkers who broke their iPhone display as well (make you think that Apple is making fragile displays to make people buy new ones). I dropped my S4 once, this did not break the glass, nor scratch it.
