I am planning a Montreal trip around Thanksgiving, Nov 24-27. Is that a good time as far as SPs availability? Does Canada follow the same Thanksgiving holiday?

Canadian Thanksgiving is October 10th. Unless there is a major snow storm, Nov 24-27 is just business as usual.

Airfare

It looks as though airfare for Air Canada for that time period is a little higher than usual, probably to account for increased travel from the US. Then again, it's too early to say. The airfare may go down as the dates approach.

I wouldn't try US airlines as they are likely to be more expensive and blackout dates apply. Try to avoid any US connections. Fly directly to either YUL or YYZ then connect to YUL.

The biggest problem will be in finding a parking spot at your home airport. Get there early. The long lines for check-in and security will add to the "fun." Once you get past Canadian customs, you're home free.

If you can change your schedule, I would avoid the airports (especially in the US) the Wednesday before and the Sunday after.

It's funny to read this thread since I was just thinking about visiting Montreal for the long Thanksgiving weekend.

I know YUL won't be busy but now that I think about LAX (Los Angeles) I don't want to fly out on Wednesday and return on Sunday, that would be a nightmare!!

Thanks for reminding me and saving my sanity, I will visit Montreal another weekend and avoid all the frustrations and be much happier on my return to LA. ;)

Merci!!
