yes the posts will stay but forget about anything you posted on VB5 the last 2 days - it's gone but if you want you can post it here again.

. . . but at least you've the old board back.
I thought you said there was nothing wrong with VB5? Find the deleted thread. You said all the issues were minor and easy to fix - how does one fix something that is not configurable? Custom VB implementation?

For you to be okay with data loss, you must realize what a HUGE mistake this was.

I found dozens of issues just trying to use the site. I posted a few in detail. You never responded to a single one of my posts. You did respond to one problem many were having: select proper radio button in filter to view more posts (LOL).

You also responded to someone that posted a link to VB adoption - you dismissed it as misinformation. Well it turns out others are not switching to VB5, and neither is MERB. Link article showed VB5 is less than 2% of all implementations (at the time a few months ago).

If a company (INC) released a software upgrade of this quality, they would have to pull the plug - like you did. Try the new VB5 version on a non-prod server before you make the switch.

I actually prefer a couple things in VB5:
* the modern theme (I don't like current green)
* the paging toolbar looks better, too bad there were issues using it
* format on smartphone was adaptive, too bad there was very little functionality

I do agree on some points but the only way to see if it floats its to throw it in the water ! I think a bit of patience and lots and lots of support for the transition would have been much more smooth . Also informing all merbites of the rockie road ahead would also helped !
The other question his how heavy was it on the data/per page , how heavy or faster vb5 is compare to vb4 .

I'm ready and would happy to migrate to vb5 by the way ! Was great looking and modern . Vb4 feels like windows 3.11. Microsoft doesn't give any more support for xp !

While I do like this version better, it probably stems partly from familiarity. Given a chance I think everyone would have adapted to the changes.

What is the "killer" capability version 5 is supposed to bring to the table?

All I saw were user issues and bugs

According to the wiki, the stable, supported VBulletin version 5 was released well over a year ago with the last bugfix release in September of 2013.
What I saw sure wasn't a stable piece of software by my definition.

I think it's best not to move to a new server and upgrade to a different version at the same time. Best not to change too many things at once.

At least sex remained the same for thousands of years and we don't have to constantly ''update'' and get used to new configurations that don't work properly :D

I find the new server is very much slower than the old one.
Just logging in takes at least 5 seconds whereas before it was pretty much instantaneously.

Same slow response when accessing the site or when posting.
Hope that can be improved.

Sure but don't underestimate the value of the familiar. I find too many software, web page and other types change things for some marginal and questionable benifit which isn't worth the change.

Hello all,

I think it's best not to move to a new server and upgrade to a different version at the same time. Best not to change too many things at once.

What a pain. The homepage looked like crap, some things disappeared altogether, PMs deleted months ago or more came back. I'm glad that experiment was gone quickly so I do not have to find out what else went wrong.

At least sex remained the same for thousands of years and we don't have to constantly ''update'' and get used to new configurations that don't work properly :D

Ahhhhhhhh, but there are so many configurations...if you are into them. According to the old movie "Quest For Fire" men seemed to have learned how to have sex in a very limited way by watching the animals, hence all he knew was doggy style. Then one woman he tried to bang showed him the pleasures of missionary...ummmmmmm such a wonderful discovery. Men have opened their minds to new paths of erotic ecstasy ever since because of a woman's inspiration. Many thanks ladies. :D WE LOVE YOU ALL!!!

Server is loading very very fast here even on wireless internet. If you are finding it slow there must be other local issues with your ISP or your hardware.
