Is addiction to certain foods a... thing?

Is it? Like addiction to cheese? To spicy food?

I feel strongly and yet powerlessly addicted to both. And then I started to read all these freaky articles about how cheese was the new heroin etc and I FREAKED out because it instilled alot of freaking out in me because it's the media.

Please, someone else freak out with me. Let's go for a Cheeses Anonymous group and we'll meet in church basements and drink weak coffee and form unbreakable bonds and discuss the beauty and treachery of Camembert.

are you talking about beaver tails and how do you cook it?

Addiction to cheese... Cheese is fat with bacteria and enzymes that taste soooooo good miam . When someone says that pussy smell like cheese it takes me a second to understand that is not a good thing ....
Fat and salt and sugar are very addictive substances , anything that gives you pleasure is addictive.

Spicy food , how spicy can you eat ? Indian food is so good and cheap and also so spicy , my trick is to order a mango lassi that calms down the heat from my madras or vindaloo

There's a group called weight watcher that lets you eat anything that you want for one day but the rest of the week is water and green stuff and tiny crumbles of bread...

My name is marc7 and my addiction is chocolate . I don't go two days without biting a piece of chocolate . And we should burn any one trying to pass carob for cocoa. I'm not talking about nestlé chocolate but Lindt or Camino that taste the real deal you know what I'm saying.......

I think that chocolate should be considered a food group by itself ,like fruit or vegetable with a daily requirement for a balanced diet ...

Chocolate and wine should be in the fifth group of food that taken moderately gives you a better quality of life ! We should all have our daily 20g of chocolate and hour 200ml of wine everyday ! The challenge 20/200 for a better life !

I guess ,I am guilty on all counts I am addicted to cheese also need control my cravings
But on the hand even the holly recognize the pleasures of sins famous saying of apostle Paul contained in ◄ Hébreux 11:25 ►
!Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;"http://saintebible.com/hebrews/11-25.htm
Containing our food addictions is far more easier said then done !
    Good Luck to all

Addiction is a bit of a strong word. Maybe "crave"?

Cheese like heroin? Cara, maybe you should try kicking the habit by stepping down to Cheez Wiz in the spray can? That stuff will get you to quit.

They say the same thing about kids and sugar, especially soft drinks. It's all a media trick to catch your attention so that you read it.

marc7 is totally right, salt and sugar is addictive. They're in EVERYTHING.

Most people either prefer salty or sweet things. Personally, i have a weakness for Salty. Don't know if that's a "nature or nurture" thing. IOW were you born with a preferences based on heredity (nature) or something you acquire based on what you eat growing up (nurture). I'm guessing a little of both. It's kind of inseparable with food preference.

By spicy, do you mean HOT (as in peppers)? I like HOT stuff too, but too hot and you sweat like crazy. Here's something that I heard about eating HOT foods that I though was interesting and didn't think about it until i heard it, but it is totally true. Do you know why most people like HOT foods? It's not because of the taste because really hot stuff you can't taste anyway. The reason you like HOT foods is... you like how your mouth feels as it's cooling down. What do you think?

Most things in moderation are OK. The way I look at it is, you could be the healthiest person in the world so what happens if lightning strikes you and kills you or you are run over by a bus. What good was being perfectly healthy all that time going to do for you then?
