Stephen A. Smith Suspended by ESPN For Comments on Domestic Abuse

Although his comments were controversial and I don't agree with them, I don't like the idea that we have to suspend people or make them apologize when they say something controversial. The reason this guy is on ESPN in the first place is to utter controversial opinions and statements, so I think there is a great deal of hypocrisy in this decision:

What happened to free speech in our country? The only speech that is free is politically correct bullshit.

I've always been a fan Stephen A Smith. His comments are often controversial and he clearly stepped over the line on Friday. With that being said, domestic violence is a huge topic right now, especially with the Ravens Ray Rice video/suspension. ESPN may not of had a choice in suspending Stephen A Smith considering the coverage that ESPN has been giving the Ray Rice incident.

I think the apology was enough, but if ESPN would have backed Stephen A Smith and not suspended him, it would have been a shit show. Too many of his colleagues on other shows on ESPN have been all over the NFL and the Ravens for not doing more about the domestic violence/ Ray Rice two game suspension. ESPN had no choice.
