Bad English in ads: sloppiness or marketing?

English isn't my first language. French is. But even I can find multiple spelling and grammatical errors in agency ads and websites. I think it looks really bad and unprofessional. And it is not in only 1 or 2 ads. Almost every single agencies have bad English in their posts. I can't believe they don't know anyone that is passably good in English or they can't use a spell check. I mean, most of their mistakes are really basic like "but" instead of "butt".

So it got me thinking. Do they leave them there because it's more exotic for English speaking tourists ? I could see that, although I still think it would be better to look professional. Or are they just sloppy and don't care about their image? I know I would like my business to look like i care about it and my potential clients. Legal or not.

You do know that mistake was on purpose. It is a movie about two retarded fellows.

I grammar and spelling is utter crap. It does not help that I am very prone to typos and spelling mistakes when typing as I learned to spell with cursive. [Words like fuck, shit and damn are not problem ]

I am pretty good at knowing when something is spelled wrong but when the spell checker doesn't work [like on merb and terb] it is a bit of a dogs breakfast.

Also when you spend enough time wasted on the internet and internet forums my desire to go over and edit posts and hunt down proper spelling goes in the shitter.

However if it is your business, you should be more careful.

I've always found these small imperfections to be quite charming. Let's take Miss Jessy. She tries very hard, but sometimes (despite her best efforts) the sentences don't flow well. I like it, it adds charm. Does an escort ad need to come across as though it was written by a doctor or lawyer? Do you really need to know when you have that "alone time" that the lady can pass an English exam? Frankly I'd rather know she's proficient in French & Greek sexual languages.

    Allo Booker,

    You do extremely well.

As I'm sure it is in any language there are good, bad, and haven't quite got it. I see native English speakers making mistakes all of the time. One of the most common being when to use "then" and "than". English can be very tricky. Change one word or make a mistake in the meaning of a word and it can become a mess. I often change how I want to express something while writing and need to recheck so much. It's really not difficult to get right if you recognize what you are doing, but you need to be careful. But there are some French speakers writing English better than some English speakers.

Still, I have to agree mostly with Vercingentorix. I enjoy the charm of some cute mistakes. It is endearing and I can still hear the way Miss Jessy told me who was available and setting the meeting, then signing off with her quaint..."nite nite". Yet, professionalism does speak for itself in showing QUALITY. Many of us are satisfied with the charm of innocent mistakes, but some may not be and who knows what little things might affect people's decisions. It's better to make sure it looks and reads professionally because it communicates attention to detail that can make the difference for some, even though it might seem trivial to most.

As for spell checker, it catches 99.9% of spelling mistakes, but it does not recognize proper language use. It will get "then" and "than" spelled correctly, but it will not know which belongs according to what was meant and how it was used...and I've still caught it spelling some words wrong.

Yeah, sometimes even I can see that. My native French speaking friends have mentioned it also. As I said, ability can vary a lot within any language.

Entierement d'accord avec ce que tu dit D'ailleur j'exploitait different sites internet avec different language .
Concernant le terme salope ou salloppe j'ai toujours preferrer utilise les termes active et participante car la maniere dont le booker presente ces filles aura une incidence sur le respect quels auront ou pas .
Les qualificatifs intense peut etre ajoute l'important c'est que le client comprenne qu'il aura du plaisir et cela en abondance.
    Quel delice ces demoiselles

    Au plaisir

This day and age where Windows automatically checks for spelling errors, people can't use a spell check program on their own either?

Well, that was the (joking) point of the post...which I guess didn't work well.

Another, second, joke in my post, was that I too mis-spelled the movie title...(I used the work "too," instead of "to."

But I guess if you have to explain a joke....
