Strip Clubs - "etiquette" on paying girls for just talking

I was telling a friend that if i spend a fair amount of time talking to a stripper at the table I will give her some money. If it is very busy in the club, I will give more than when it is quiet. I do this even if we then go for dances. I am curious what the rest of you do?

if you spend a fair amount of her time talking where she could have had a couple of dances with other clients, then, yes, its totally appropriate to pay for her time

Having had an ex-girlfriend who worked in the industry, I think this depends on who is initiating the conversation. If the dancer is approaching the client, normally this time is invested to entice the client for dances/private booths. Generally they will quickly assess whether there is any potential and politely move on. For this, I don't feel any compensation is necessary. Think of a car sales rep who spends time to sell you a car and you decide not to buy, do you feel the need to compensate him/her? Part of the job right.

Conversely, should you stop or initiate a conversation for an extended period with no intention of spending any money with the dancer, then I can see how a tip or offer to buy a drink would be appreciated.

I'm sorry but I am not a fan of strip clubs. Every $ I spend on a dancer and every dollar I spend on porn such as a 17$ SpectrraVision movie in the hotel (back in the day when they were popular in the hotels) was a dollar that I could apply to escorts. Why should I go into a bar and spend 150$ on dancers when I could spend 200$ and I could MPOS, DFK, and DATY an equivalent or better girl? It makes no fucking sense to me. No fucking sense!!!!!

As for your original question, If she initiated the conversation it is to entice you to dance. I believe you are less obligated in this scenario than if you initiate the conversation.

Personally in Montreal,
1 - I never initiate talking if I'm not going to take dances
2 - and otherwise I state rather soon that I'm not interested in taking dances. If she stick around chatting, her choice, no compensation.

In other places, it may depend, but generally the idea is the same: I don't want to pay for a conversation I did not request, and I don't see why I'd request a conversation if it's not leading to other services, which would .then be paid.

I agree with you doug999. A good friend of mine was telling me that they don't get paid by the club, they actually pay the club a certain amount (bar, etc). and that's how the make money is through dances, some clubs may be different. I always thought they got paid by the club and kicked up a percentage of their dance earnings.

I find if you are engaging and enjoying a conversation with the dancer and taking away 20-30minutes or longer of her time then it's only right to "tip" her.

Instead of tipping her, why not spend that money on dances. If you are talking to her for any serious length of time the size of the tip should be at the dance level.

I let them come to talk to me, some even grope me. Free!

Same here... I usually mention early on that I am probably not going to be interested in a dance or more... That way, they can get up and leave if they want to. Sometimes, they'll talk for a while, then cruise, maybe go to VIP, then return. I find that a bit weird, knowing that they probably just blew some dude before they came back.

I must admit, that as often as not, I eventually end up out back with her... My willpower sucks in the presence of a hot girl who wants to blow me. Who am I to deny her that... :)

Don't be so naive and let the girl hustle you like that.

These girls love to prey on the weak and naive!

Unless you are in the vip/champagne room there sould be no paying to talk to her.

I don't think there is any hustling going on.

Doug999 never said that they ask for money just to engage in conversation, he voluntarily tips them because he's taking away from her making money getting dances.

There is nothing Naive or Weak about it

for me, putting things in context with respect to the original post, i agree with this, despite my first thoughts (i read most recent post and then jump to the first).

it's your money, do what you want. like johnybird said, it was voluntary, and OP seems quite empathetic.

Doug asked, "what would you do?" personally, i'd never give a tip for just talking. that's so absurd to me. i'm either there to chill with friends or i'm looking for some dances. it's part of the game. they know it. and you should too.

i do agree with thedon, in that some seasoned dancers will milk desperate suckers for $ for the least amount of effort on their part. don't fall for that.

its all business. don't lie to yourself. you're in a stripclub.

strips clubs are a different kind of fun :D

So what do you do when tipping just for talking? you suddenly hand her a 20? It seems to feel weird.

When I was dancing it happened only a few times that gentlemen paid me for spending time talking with them. I believe that in all cases they were American, somehow the compensation for conversation model seems to be more popular in some parts of the US. I never expected or requested payment for non-dancing time, but I was an awful hustler, lol!
I think that some guys are just selfish and will keep a girl at their table as long as possible with no intention of taking her for dances, and that is cheap and mean. You don't have to pay a dancer to talk to you, but if you aren't going to buy dances, you should tell her right away.

Look behind you.
Pay to talk to someone, not going to happen. If it is a day where I just want a drink and watch the dancers I will let her know and if she decides to stay and chat ( slow night ) I will buy her a drink but that is about it. What I really hate is when the girl walks to the table and first question is do you want to go to the booth, I even had some walk up and ask if I want to fuck ( first question ), those I send away. Now if it were Maria ( Le Gent ) who approached me it would be hard to say no...... Damn I have not seen her for a couple of years now.

My StripClub years are far behind me, but how it happened to me was like that...

First of all, i wouldn't get approach much on a busy night, because i don't look like a guy with a lot of money, as some of you know, and i can't blame them. Would i have the choice of going for a 40 y.o dude in a suit or a 23 years old in a hoodie, i would take the suit myself... i know more money will probably comes out. Didn't changed much when i was either with friends or by myself. BUT when i got back there a couple times with Pat and Bob a year ago or so, strippers where coming much much more to chat, either because they knew more money could be made because of the more mature look of them, or maybe just because they knew they where regulars

But when one would come to talk with me, if i did not intended to take a dance i would tell her almost right away, right after saying hi , how are you. I didn't wanted to make her lost her time and to be totally honest i have no interest in awkward conversations, wich seem to be most of the time the case. I mean if a girl is very good at "promoting herself" she may find something to say and engage nicely, but on how many ocasion did one sit with me and we basically didn't say a word for 1 min before she decided to move on... Now thats only me but i had interest in taking her to dance from the get go(look to my liking) i would take her right away, i had no interest in conversating ...

It did happen tough on a couple ocasion on very slow night a girl would come by, i would tell her im not interest in dances and she would ask me to sit anyway, wich i say ok... lol. Usually they are the one with good marketing skills and it happened a few times she actually made me want to go in the booth with her just because she had a great personality and was a fun girl, even if at first look she wasn't my type or i prefered to keep my money for another one.

Its important to realize i used to go there mostly before i even saw an escort ever, so to me it was always about "enter, choose the hottest, take dance, leave" and keeping the beer count at only 1 to save all the $ for the stripper. On rare ocasions i got with friends and spent more time, but it was usually a solo activity i would do like when i saw escort those past years... Wich i know is not the case for most people.

Also i realized something else over the year, if they see you take dances, they will aproach you much more, thinking "ok that guy came for dances" and they think they have a chance, contrary to a dude who just want to hang there for the show or with friends and drinking beers.

Also if you hang out late... they would eventually try there last chance around 2:30 or so, thinking they have nothing to loose. I remember once with pat and bob, there was like 4 of them that came to me one after the other very late because i came back from the booth. One was even pissed i said no... lol (the only time i took booth dances after seeing an escort, and i took only 2)

Anyway, so basically never did it cross my mind to pay them for talking... if they want to stay and talk, its there choice, and i let them know my intentions(or lack of) to take dances or not, so its up to them...
