Really now? What exactly has Bergevin won since he's replaced Gauthier?

In terms of Cups, he's won the same as almost ALL the other GMs in the league in that very short time span - namely none.

However he has built a team that has done, is doing, and probably will do very well for a while.

He's also been a finalist for the best GM award (most recently won by Steve Yzerman, very well-deservedly), and in a published blog last week he and his management team were graded with an A. In that blog, the author graded 29 of the 30 teams from A to F. For what it's worth, the Wings were given a C and the Leafs were the only team NOT graded, as the author said that their team and management were such a mess that it was impossible to grade them.

Matt Millen 'apologizes' for epic fail with Lions
http://www.freep.com/story/sports/nfl/lions/2015/11/30/detroit-lions-matt-millen/76560528/

I read through the thread and this seems to be focused on hockey. If we open this up to all sports - both professional and amateur - I would say the hiring of Matt Millen of the Detroit Lions. He took a mediocre franchise and made it progressivly worse every year until I believe the Detroit Lions had a winless season. After 8 brutal years Matt Millen was finally terminated. Now we get to hear this guy do color comentary for NFL and College games on TV. He should be banned from football.

Here is an appology he recently made to the Lion's fans. This guy was the worst ever at any level and it took 8 years to fire him.

The Lions still suck and if I am not mistaken they fired the GM who came after Millen as well. It's not been a winning franchise for many years and I don't think they have even come close to winning the Super Bowl but Millen probably did preside over the worst years in the history of this long suffering franchise. This year they actually have some talent on their team but they still suck and chances are they will fire sale the talent and start over again yet again. They are in perpetual rebuilding mode.

Actually this year the Lions fired their offensive coordinator, president and GM:

Usually you don't have such mass firings but what happened is that the ownership decided the coaching staff sucked goat balls and the front office sucked Hippo balls. Usually suckitude only confines itself to coaching staff or front office but in bad organizations, suckitude is contagious. I actually think the owners suck giraffe balls but unfortunately they cannot be fired.

The habs firing GM Serge Savard & coach Jacques Demers and then replacing them with Rejean Houle & Mario Tremblay took the franchise back a few years. It also affected other franchises. Patrick Roy would likely have remained a hab for the rest of his career and may have never won another Cup. He won two after being traded to Colorado following his feud with Tremblay. Colorado never would have won a Cup without Roy. Detroit probably would have won those Cups instead.

The 49ers doing everything in their power to get rid of Jim Harbaugh seems to have been a disastrous move for the franchise. Too many family squabbles in that ownership group!

Boston firing Claude Julien ?

Firing Claude Julien was a brilliant move by the Bruins. His hiring & giving him a 5-year/$25 million contract by the habs seems to have been a mistake since they haven't improved and have actually regressed. Geoff Molson is stuck paying Michel Therrien another two years of his contract and now he's stuck with Julien's five-year deal.

Another 'worse' move is hanging on to Marc 'Bargain Bin' Bergevin for this long.
