I think this is a good thing to know beforehand rather than going though yellow pages or Googling lawyers etc..

Thanks escapefromstress, this is very helpful to have just in case.

I was wondering if there is list of lawyers who specialize in troubles that hobbyist might get into!!!

I contacted the Lawyer Referral Service in BC a couple of years ago when I was doing some research, and asked them the same question. They were very friendly and helpful and didn't seem to discriminate against people involved in the industry. You can call and ask them for help with whatever issue you're interested in, but they will only give you one name at a time. If you decide that lawyer isn't suitable, they'll give you another name ...

It would be good to have a list of a lawyers who have experience in dealing with industry related issues.

I think any competent criminal lawyer would be good. I don't think there are lawyers that specializes in criminal defense of clients. The number of prosecutions is really small compared to other crimes. Most of the guys busted are clients of street prostitutes who can't afford lawyers anyway. And since the law is new, no one really has experience with it.

This is a relatively small crime; I don't think they put you in jail until you get bailed out. you probably just get a summon to court. Once the police let you go you have plenty of time to find a defense lawyer. If you get arrested just don't admit to anything before getting the advice of a lawyer.

In all regions of Quebec, "to learn about your rights and obligations in all areas of law, it is possible to obtain the first 30 minutes of an initial consultation at low cost or no cost." When you call the number, they ask what area of law you need help with and a few minutes later a lawyer in that field calls you back.

Twice I've received legal advice over the phone from an actual lawyer for 30 minutes for free. It was litigation related.

That would depend on the type of file you need advice for?
Civil matter ?
Criminal matter ?

The most often be ready for a retainer and retainer agreement ,unless you are already a very good client of the firm

Good Luck
