Trading reviews for freebies/other perks?

Heard something from an SP friend of mine that's new in the business that got me thinking and wanting to post. I've noticed a pretty concerning trend on merb lately of certain guys trying to trade reviews for free hours, free extras, or other perks - especially in the case of debutantes. Apparently one person even went so far as to withhold my friend's review unless she agreed to talk to me and get me to bump him up my TSL (note to everyone - this is actually a sure-fire way to be taken off my list completely...). I'm curious about other people's opinions on this - whether it's fair or not, or if it's a good business move for the client/SP. Personally, I think this is taking advantage of new girls in the business. If an SP is good at her job she should get a good review, period.

i equate it the behaviour (good revu for certain things like discount/service/etc.) the same as negotiation rates. it is bad. i never negotiate advertise rates/services and i never rite revu or not rite revue for anything.

i been ask if i rite revus by some ladys i scene. i genraly say yes. most ladys dont ask me to rite revus of them... i rite them ayways. some ask my merb handel or it has hapen b4 that some ladys from some agencys no my merb handel without me saying anything. indys generly no my handel either after i meet them (since they recognize revu) or b4 i meet them (if they ask for my handel). i have never sayd my handel during a session.

one lady i scene ask where her revu was since i was late in riting it for abut 2-3 weeks. even tho she only ask once, i found her abit pushy for revu and i politely telld her i was busy wich is true but did revu her wen i had time. i did rite a revu (good) for her since i had good sevice but didnt mension she reminded me of the revu since i fellt it had littel bearing on the revu. i didnt receive anything for the revu.

ive been ask sometimes to remove revus of some ladys by ladys/agencys themself or remove certain detaisl. i genraly take all requests under advisement.

if i get good/grreat service from lady and she ask me not to rite revu, i wont rite veu. surpsingly this has been request me a few times and i dont have problem for not revuing a good lady who asks not to be revued. sometimes if i think someting is very extremly ymmv and i got it or lady tell me not to rite that i got xxxxx (fill in blank with allmost anything), i wont rite about it since i dont tink it takes anythign away from my revu by having it or not having it in my revu.

if i dont get good/great servie from lady and she asks me not to rite a revu, i will rite revu (tis only hapen to me twice so far).

i have never been offer anything for riting a revu or not riting a revu. i allso never been offer anthing to remove or add anything.

i genraly dont rite revus for a ladys after seeing them more then 3 times unless things change for beter or worse or she goes indy to agency or viceversa since i dont want to be scene as shiling for ladys.

i nver ask for a discount or anything for revu or not revu.

i gernaly will rite a revu good or bad wich is my experience. bad revus for me are never insulting or demeaning on phyisical. for exampel, in pass, i scene a lady who had portwine birthmark on side of body and i mension that she had a skin issue. person ask me in pm wat is skin issue and i reply. person ask me if it was bad on pm or public tread, i sayd it didnt bother me. recently i scene lady who had a bacne issue. i just mension that she had skin issue also. no need to be insulting.

for me, she will 'earn' a revu just b/c i am a revuer. she earns a good revu for being good and she earns a bad revu for being bad. if i fellt that we didnt click and this was why it didnt work, i will rite that.

Are you an SP? I thought only hobbyists had TSL/TDLs? What is your perspective?

. .
Personally, I think this is taking advantage of new girls in the business. If an SP is good at her job she should get a good review, period.

Interesting? I did not know that this was a trend? I understand that there are a few of the newer girls out there that are way too worried about what is written on this board. I understand that they sometime become jealous about hobbyists writing good things about their competition. Say you do 12 sessions a week. If you are sold out for those 12 sessions then what do you care what anyone writes about you? Why would you care what a hobbyist writes about your competition giving another girl a higher rating? the phone is ringing off the hook and you are booked solid so why be jealous? I mean if you are not the one that is voted SP of the year why would you care if you are sold out?

I remember once when I was on the phone with Martin. I was having trouble linking a girls profile to TER and I told him. I would not be able to give her the good review he earned. He said that is OK. He is sold out ever night anyway so I shouldn't worry about TER's stupid policies.

I write reviews because I enjoy doing so. If the girl does well I ask her if it is OK if I write a review and if there is anything that I should not write about. If the girl is a rip off or doesn't give a shit I write a truthful honest and tasteful negative review. I don't know of anyone that tries to trade reviews for discounts. They should not.

Megan of Nadya's told me that she doesn't pay attention to the board. This is probably the best course of action for an SP.

Everything exists for a reason, but to me personally, this is unacceptable.

In the past, I have been asked by ladies or owners to write reviews, but it was always like:
- Hey, can you write something so that more people would know about me/us?
- Yeah, sure, I had a great time, I'm more than happy to do it for you.
That's it, end of discussion, nothing asked and nothing was offered.

In fact, if an sp offers something so that I can write a good review about her, it would look very suspicious to me because:
- if I had a good time, she didn't have to do anything. simply ask and I would be more than happy to write it (like I have done before)
- if I didn't have a good time, this is fraud, not something I would do

Reversely, if a client asks for something for exchange of a review, I suggest ladies/agencies block him because as Tina said, this is just too cheap.

not sure if u are being sarcastic with question or dont no but zmontreal is zoe (indy formrly from nadyas). i dont no what tsl or tdl is so cant coment on why she use term since i dont no term

i think sp need thick skin if they come to bord. i remeber an asian lady from eleganza who wasnt happy with a revu on appearance and blasted hobyist (that tread or mabe just individul posts was removed ages ago). i tink sometimes hobyist allso need thick skin to come to merb. i have been negativly riten abut after a negative comment i wrote abut a meeting i had with lady from white knights.

Unfortunately, this type of client behaviour has been around for as long as boards have existed. I think Eager Beaver used to call that board terrorism.

Heh.

Some of you folks acting all high and mighty with this moral compass non sense. If you were given the chance to partake for FREE and all you have to do is write a good review to generate possible interest, you folks wouldn't hesitate to take the deal.

Reminds me of those MMA guys who swear they would never tap out until they get themselves in some major choke hold.

Only time I would see this as a major no no is when the dude threatens the SP for freebies/discounts. For that she should bite it off and throw it out the window. Or flush it down. LOL.

That's skeevy!

Real degrading thing to do. It really does amaze me on how low some people would stoop.

i wouldn't turn down free sex like i wouldn't turn down free food or free stuff but i won't vouch for you as i won't be objective unless i am able to specify that i got it free.

mind you, i receive free food, either through work or through businesses but i always mention to others that it was a freebie even if in the end, i'd say bad things about it.

anyway, yes, it's very unethical and its something that, imo, is very frown up. think about it, its the one thing people can't stand about bloggers, especially lifestyle bloggers, asking (or receiving) freebies in exchange of a good word

i have never withheld a good revu or a revu of any nature for any type of benefit or service. i would allso never rite a good revu where one was not waranted. i rite revus b/c i am a revuer and i rite them.

depedning on ladys, ive been given discounts for various things (being merb member, being repeet client, seeing multihours, being good/safe client, winning raffle/prize at gg/vip, reliabel, etc.) and yes i do accept the discounts & never question it but i would never negotiate a discount. i have allso never goten a discount for riting a postive revu.

I disagree, I think getting good reviews and paying attention to them is important no matter who you are in the industry or whether or not you need the extra business. I do think, however, that it's far more important for debutantes than for SPs who are already well-established. As a debutante your entire business is dependent on that first review, so it really can be worth quite a lot. Maybe not as much for agency girls since clients will assume that she already meets the standard of the agency, but definitely for indys just starting out in the business. Very few people are willing to spend the money on a new indy if she has no/only a few reviews.

Agreed. I read not only my reviews but those of others as well to gain more insight into what will satisfy my clients. An agency girl may be able to ignore her reviews but a wise independent will pay attention to them. This is like our report card if you will, where we get feedback on what we are doing well, and what we can improve. Personally my TER reviews are worth their weight in gold. I get many compliments on them and they are my ticket to working in the US. My merb reviews are also valuable, they assure potential new clients that they can expect a quality service, that my pictures are accurate, etc.

When my first merb review was posted someone made an accusation in the review thread that the reviewer may have received a freebie for his review. Of course this was not the case and I was very upset by this. The accusation was unfounded and I did receive support from members of the community, but it somehow tainted an otherwise exceptional review. I have never had anyone ask for special treatment in return for a review, and for the most part I have no idea which clients will review me and which ones will choose not to. I actually prefer it that way, as I might get performance anxiety if someone told me they intended to review our experience, lol!

An SP who falls for this type of coercion is pretty stupid. There is always someone who will resort to this type of behaviour in an effort to extort favours from a girl but I personally find it to be reprehensible. If the experience was a bad one report it honestly, if it was a good one do the same. If this is the way you try to extort extras, shame on you. The women in this business new or experienced are human beings and deserve to be treated with respect like anyone else working for a living in any other profession. Think of how you would feel if your next increase in salary depended on a performance report being written by a client who wanted a lower price for what you are selling, or more and better service for the service you provide. We all deserve fair pay for the job done or the service provided, outside or inside this industry. Respect begets Respect !

Ladies and gentlemen,

Heard something from an SP friend of mine that's new in the business that got me thinking and wanting to post. I've noticed a pretty concerning trend on merb lately of certain guys trying to trade reviews for free hours, free extras, or other perks - especially in the case of debutantes.

It may be new to your friend but it's old and continuous, and some of the firmest public protesters against it are far from clean.

...whether it's fair or not,...

Of course not. From what some insiders have told me it's a hard thing to pin down though. Some will liberally see it as a kind of business negotiation, even some ladies may see it that way if it's profitable enough. "Free hours, free extras, or other perks"...these go on all the time for big paying regulars as uncoerced policy in some cases. Some agencies succeed for quite a while with it, then some ladies start to feel exploited and take off for other agencies. That's not the same as threatening to withhold reviews, but how different is it?

Why would you care what a hobbyist writes about your competition giving another girl a higher rating? the phone is ringing off the hook and you are booked solid so why be jealous? I mean if you are not the one that is voted SP of the year why would you care if you are sold out?

A lady probably achieved great success through reviews, public or by the word being passed on. Success is never permanent and when a trend in reviews shifts and promotes one while others start to become less visible then one may not be "sold out much longer. It's about keeping success not taking it for granted.

:(

A review board such as this loses all of its value once any practice of good reviews for freebies starts being successful. As long as reviewers are honest and praise the good providers and expose the bad ones, boards such as merb work well. Without honesty from both providers and clients it will quickly become irrelevant. Don't get me wrong, I do think there is room for some bartering or discounts between the provider and her client, especially the indy's, and I believe that happens, or should happen, naturally. This should also be strictly between SP and client, not be something that influences other potential customers. Just like in all of the business world, good customers sometimes get rewarded for being really good customers. Likewise, the really great providors get rewarded in many ways by generous gentlemen because they got exceptional service. In the end it probably evens out with neither party getting more than their worth, and neither party feeling screwed....except in a good way! This is not meant to create any expectations for this kind of bartering. The only way it works is when it occurs naturally..... and without even discussing it! Never never should good reviews in exchange for discounts be a part of this equation because it affects too many others.

Unfortunatly not all clients are created equal .
Having 12 booking a week doesn't guaranty success ,it is more the quality of the bookings that does .
The objective of any business is profit and volume increase ,taking this aspect into consideration ,shows that any agencies or Indies needs to have a excellent visibility ,and good reviews .
A booker that doesn't understand the difference between ,better clients have a tendency to stagnate

Every agency manages as they please ,the success they have or don't have will follow .

If agencies girls doesn't need to read reviews , there booker does or the merb poster .
A tight follow up is required because a lot of cheap shots are taken .

Freebies for good reviews is cheating and unfair.
Getting better reviews compared to the real review they are suppose to have is utterly a no no, cuz it tarnishes the integrity of our board and as members we should know better.

I think its ok for the girl to ask for a review at the end of the meeting... She should know if it was a good encounter or I if she did a good job.

T2010 I agree with you. However, the problem is everyone wants an edge in getting appointments when there is large demand for certain escorts. Some do it the right way, call early, prebook, make appointments that are more profitable to the agency, etc. Others use deceptive and/or coercive tactics such as using reviews to impose pressure on the ladies. And they use tactics to gain favor with the agencies such as steadily showing pronounced favoritism, a steady stream of one-sided promotions, and the most telltale tactic of attacking anyone who shows the slightest critical view of the agencies or ladies they favor. The refrain, "you have no idea what you are talking about" is typical. Of course everyone has favorites, and most have the impulse to protect those favorites. But when some people make a habit of attacking, trying to discredit, or as in some cases create lies to slander members, it gets pretty obvious exactly who is showing normal impulses and who is shilling for favors.

These faults in the review system will not change because everyone wants are edge and sometimes an owner might be guilty of encouraging the same to keep high spending clients happy and business rolling in. It's about profits.

Megan of Nadya's told me that she doesn't pay attention to the board. This is probably the best course of action for an SP.

A lot of ladies have said this publicly and to me in private. It probably is a good idea to help protect themselves.

Freebies for good reviews is cheating and unfair.

Fairness?????????? Does anyone think those who would use reviews for pressure care a wick about fairness. :noidea:

Cheers,

Merlot

I think this is an issue that's always going to exist in some form, either the same as price negotiation if not worse and drifting into blackmail territory. I mean, let's not pretend that guys aren't interested in freebies for a service they value, but using it as leverage should be frowned upon and discouraged.

However I've read on this board again and again that SPs talk frequently amongst themselves. This being the case, if a newer SP values reviews on this board to get her off the ground (as opposed to say, an established independent or someone with other good connections/reputation who may not even be reviewed often because she's being kept as a secret), can't other SPs help both her and other merbites out? Put her in touch with reviewers or known board members, active people who are looking for gems and new talent and won't hesitate to experience and review them. Once the reviews build up obviously there's less leverage for this unsavory negotiation, plus you'll share among yourselves who is doing these things and get them blacklisted.

Sorry Zoe. I did not put two and two together. Your first sentence reflects a healthy attitude. OK, a debutante's first review is probably more critical. Just dress like you're going on a date and provide good service. This will take care of it 99 times out of 100.
My comments were toward girls that get all caught up in reviews and actually get jealous of other girls because the other girl has better reviews and more repeat clients. If I were the booker I would tell the girl "Hey, you're fully booked each night you work so why be jealous." Now, for the girl that sits in the car all night with just 1 or 2 appointments, maybe she has to up her game or find a new line of work?

Yes, TER reviews are important in the States because we use them to decide if the girl is LE. No reviews = no call from me (most of the time).

I guess I don't have an over inflated sense of self importance. I did not think that my piddly little review was worth a free session. I also realize that this is not the way the game is played. I do not expect freebies for a review so I would never dangle that carrot out there.
