Talking anyone remember Cinema Le Beaver on Parc Avenue

I was reading Rhode Island guys post about moving to Montreal and I started reminiscing about living in this wonderful city back in the mid 1970's to the mid 1980's.

I remember the glory years of the Expos and $1 bleacher tickets, going to LaRonde in the summer, Habs games at the old Forum way up in the blues, the York theatre on the corner of Guy and Ste. Catherine, but I also remember the porno theatres. There was Le Beaver on Parc Avenue, Cinema Pussycat and Cinema Eve, with the two legs sticking up as the "v" in Eve.

Anyone else remember Montreal from around that time ?

    Memories of the 70s

Best SP of the era was a French girl from France, name of Claudine Jobic...what a hottie!!! Had an apartment on Pine West near Parc (80 Pine West, I believe)....yummy!

I used to patronize the Guy Theatre beside the Guy Metro...now some sort of a dollar store...and not even a good dollar store, like Dollarama (which in the 70s was the rather unkempt Rossy 5 & 10 Stores)....

When Steerburger had TWO locations...east of Phillips Square on Ste-Catherine (now closed) and the one still operating on Ste-Catherine near Drummond...

Listening to the radio --- the great CKGM 98 with Ralph Lockwood in the mornings and Marc "Mais Oui" Denis in the afternoons (Marc's web-site at <http://www.marcdenis.com> brings back a lot of memories too)...when CJAD was a real radio station, with George Balcan in the mornings, and none of these grating infomercials and whining divas like Lori & Olga...

    The 70s were great!

I was around (and I have some pictures somewhere) of the night the theatre on st laurent st catherine went up in flames, now and empty space betweem buildings, next to club soda.

    Remembering things like:

"box table dances" when there was no contact, and the girls couldn't stay at your table or even hover because of the laws at the time.

$5 super dirty table dances at the Mo-li Bar in Laval...

The Moustache bar on Lambert Closse, with live bands (metal at the end).

Dress codes at clubs on Cresent.

Wanda Bar when it was just the downstairs.

    SuperSexe before the expansion.

Montreal keeps evolving... the fun keeps getting more intense.

Oliver, now I know I ran into you somewhere along the road, your list of clubs, (especially the warehouse, not very many people remembered that place!).

Beaver: There was pornos I think at the border drive in (Just inside Ontario, I think). There aren't very many drive ins left anywhere at this point...

    Other clubs:

    Harem on gouin in Cartierville

no-name dump in the basement of the Since burned down Voyageur hotel in laval (now an RV place)

Klay-avn indian restaurant and Biker bar on Ste Catherine, near the old forum.

    Grand Buck Brasserie St Catherine

    Annexe bar near concordia

There was a huge drive in on the West Island for many years, The Dollard drive in was on Brunswick across from the Arena, but the closest thing to porn they showed was Quest for Fire!
Now its not that long ago but who remembers CACTUS on sources, IMO it was one of the nicest strip joints in montreal untill it umm blew up.

Those were the days. Girls used to take off their g-string for lap dance too back then.

The York Hotel on Notre Dame near University. Had a steak house, a topless joint (pasties & g-strings then) and night club style shows Friday and Saturday evenings. Right next to Le Baron and a few other outdoor activity & army surplus stores.

The Beaukiri in the Colonial Hotel on Windsor Street just north of Notre Dame. Remember the Tudor stylye building with burning torches. Topless dancers in cages. Lots of them. Big titted girls healthy girls. Pasties & g-strings of course. One creative girl could move her boobs to Troglogdyte by Jimmy Castor Bunch. Hyponotic it was.

Remember Baby Papillon. That 400 pound dancer. And that black haired but pale skinned Vampire dancer that would come out of a coffin and use fake blood. Nice but obviously silicone tits.

A bit later the Maxi Sexe in Mascouche. If you wanted to taste the cigar that some guy smoked five tables down all you did was wait for the dancers to do their rounds. Valentine nice shaved quim with three rings in it.

I have seen Baby Papillon at the Robo Bar on Gouin East in Riviere des Prairies and at Shed 25 on Notre Dame East near the Catelli factory.

    She must have danced elsewhere.

    Memories.

The Slut has accepted the passing of all these fun spots but cannot fill the empty space in his life caused by the closing of "the Lodeo". The head of the M.U.C. morality squad commented in the Journal the day after it was shut down," In my 27 years on the force this was the worst place I had seen".Could there be any higher reccomendation?

    Hanky panky!

Can anyone tell me if there wasany hanky panky going on at thoseadult theaters of day of yore? I was told that sometime there would be women in the mens wash rooms offering relief to the patrons of theporn palaces. Can anyone confirm this?

    Women in washrooms?

The Slut spent most of the late 70"s and early 80"s in dank porn theaters,Eve,Pussycat, Beaver,539 Carre st. Louis,Guy,and the French ones too.I saw all kinds of sexual activities, all of it Homo. The closest I ever saw to what you mentioned was the trannies in the front rows at the Christal cinema on the Main. There was however no shortage of willing men to service you in these washrooms had you been so inclined. I saw lot's of whores serviceing porn movie patrons in the Times Square glory days of Manhatten, nothing in Montreal.Check out my vivid description of a night at the L'amour for more on the porn theatre sex scene.

There was one on Sherbrooke St in Westmount called the Piccadilly. It was a repetory theater & then a porn theater.

Now that you mention Times Sq glory days in NYC, there was a massage parlour (extras available) right htere on 42nd St between 6th & 7th which is now a NYPD mini station.
