Jalimon that is correct but not precisely correct. From the article you posted:

So if the predominant flavor is Juniper then it’s made from Juniper. But what I had meant to say was predominant Juniper flavor.

I did end up buying Tanqueray London Dry Gin, which is imported, 47.3% alcohol, 94.6 proof, and distilled 4 times. Cost of 1 Litre bottle was $27.99. I hope he likes it.

When I was at the liquor warehouse to purchase the London-style Gin, the salesman aggressively pitched various Scotch Whiskeys to me and a friend I was shopping with. He saw us go down the Scotch aisle (which was utterly coincidental, because we were going from the Gin aisle to the Sangria aisle, and we had to walk down the Scotch aisle to get from Gin to Sangria). We were not in that aisle to buy Scotch. Anyway, some of the Scotch they had was well over $100 a bottle; others were as cheap as $15. He seemed to have us pegged as mid-range Scotch buyers as he started hawking us on some Scotch that was going for $50 to $70 a bottle. We were polite and listened to what he had to say, then moved on and made our remaining purchases. At some point I told him we were not shopping for Scotch, just to avoid him wasting further breath on us.

What I gathered from him is that Single Malt is better as it signals that all the Scotch in the bottle comes from one distillery, whereas non-Single Malt Scotch is a blend of whiskeys of different origins, sort of a bastard as it were, whose parents may be unknown.
