Advantages of Skype Calling for Bookings? It works?

After getting stung with a hefty telephone bill (nearly C$200) at Sofitel hotel where I stayed on my last visit to Montreal in August, I'm happy to see that Skype calling seems to become another mainstream alternative to booking in Montreal's Hobbyland. I rather my money goes to the deserving ladies and the teams that help them safely, soundly, economically and reliably to their engagements.

It would cost me an arm and a leg to use my mobile in Canada since my US carrier loves to rack up roaming charges to fatten their corporate executives and shareholders.

My question is are the agencies giving Skype callers the same priorities as calls they receive from hotel landlines or Canada's mobile devices? Is it a case of penny wise and pound foolish, for folks like me.

That is a hefty bill. I've never done it but I believe you can pick up a throw away at Candadian Tire and buy a 20$ card and ring up all the calls you would need. I am too lazy for this so I stay at hotels where I am a frequent guest and I quailify for free local calls. I also do most of my leg work by PM and e-mail. When you become a regular with an agency or an Indy you can even book via PM.

Thanks for the tip Hungry. I too am lazy about using calling cards -- I tried them in Europe and didn't like using them. Sype calling is great. PM worked for me this am with one of the best agencies in Montreal -- Joe at XXXtease; Steve there was my main contact during my visit in August 2015.

What does unlock your phone mean?

unlocking means taking away the restriction put by carrier which opens up your phone to be used with any carrier around the world as long as your phone has the correct band to be used in said country. you just switch the sim card and voila.

for example, i'm on rogers and i recently got a phone through telus because it was a lot more cheaper than if i got it through rogers. once i got the phone, i bought an unlock code through a 3rd party reseller which is most of the time less than $10 instead of the $50 or so demanded by telus and i unlock my phone to be used on rogers. i'm now using that phone

In the US, the carriers make it impossible to unlock the "smartphones" even after you've already paid for the device in full. The wireless carriers in the US are vicious.

I may get prepaid smartphone later. Even the hotel operator told me to go get a calling card: $2 for each local call and long distant calls cost 3 times the already jacked up prices. Live and learn. Like I said, I rather give the monies to the hardworking SP's.

Many of us have been using such unlocked phones for the past 20 years while traveling abroad. When we arrive in the new country, we buy a local SIM card & add some credit. In Canada, Rogers is the best option for this. Their SIM card costs around $10 CAD and can be reused on future trips. Each trip you add $20 of credit which will last for the length of your trip.

As for Skype, are you referring to Skype-to-Skype audio or video calls?

It may seem to be a lot of work to avoid hotel rip-off charges, but it's really not. Figure out which of the above options is best for you and then stick with it every time you travel. Then use the extra money for SPs.

You're right. I've unlocked my iPhones after fulfilling the 2 year contracts and gave them to my grade school nephews and nieces. Great idea. I'll use one of the older clam phones I still have next time and go to Rogers to get cellular minutes.

Oh, I bought $10 credit on Skype for audio calling throughout the world --- it cost less than US$0.25 minutes for several Skype calls I made earlier today.

For those of you who have experimented on Seeking Arrangement, there are a large number of women on there that prefer to communicate via Skype- at least initially. It also seems to be a very popular method of communication in Asia.

I was favorited on Seeking Arrangement by this extremely hot looking girl in her 20s. Only problem was that she is in Philippines and I am in the USA. Look at a map and you will see we are many thousands of miles away from each other. So I message her and basically say hey girl, you are really fucking hot, but problem is you are in the Philippines and I am in the USA, which is like really far away. I would like this to happen but unless you plan on coming to the USA, I don't think there is much of a chance.

So she messages me back. Actually was a very cool girl, asked me about the weather and while I was getting ready to go to bed, she was having her morning coffee. So she invites me to do a Skype with her. So I tell her, real nice - "look, I am not interested in an Internet relationship". And I go on to tell her that I want to have a traditional meet in person, dating relationship. So she messages me back saying, "isn't that what the Internet is for- to bring people together???????"

So I message her back and I say to her unless we can meet in person it isn't going to happen. I mean this girl apparently thought I would pay money to jerk off when she lets me see her tits on Skype. I am not the person who gets off in that way, and I have no interest in an Internet based relationship. Why would I pay to see someone flash her tits, when that is all over the Internet for free, plus it doesn't get me off? Anyway she was one of several ladies from Philippines who wanted to have a Skype relationship with me.

There is a lot of this out there, especially with younger college girls on Seeking Arrangement. They basically want to do private porn via Skype, for money.

Skype might be making lots of money for Microsoft and helping to support its failed mobile business

I joined SA for a month -- after hearing a half hour special about these sites on NPR, of all places. Many of the ladies are simply looking for Sugar Dudes or Johns! Since I ain't rich or have monies to flush down the toilets (like that Google executives who OD'd on his boat with the help of a "female friend"), I jumped ship.

As for my own experience in Montreal, I'm very encouraged that Joe at XXXtase answered my original call on Skype audio and called me back at my hotel room to confirm my booking with Lea this am. So, I'm very happy that Merb supporters are using Skype audio calling as an additional tool to help everyone, both the Hobbyists and the SP's.

Maybe on Boxing Day, I'll go to a Rogers store and get a prepaid phone to use in Montreal and the rest of Canada.
