David Bowie, whose incomparable sound and chameleon-like ability to reinvent himself made him a pop music fixture for more than four decades, has died. He was 69.

Bowie died Sunday after an 18-month battle with cancer, his publicist Steve Martin told CNN.

"David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer. While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family's privacy during their time of grief," said a statement posted on his official social media accounts.

In my opinion the greatest live performance on TV in rock history was of a song David Bowie wrote which was performed by Nirvana:

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=fregObNcHC8

I later read that Bowie was infuriated by people referring to it as a Nirvana song and actually admitted to cursing some kids who he heard saying "what a great Nirvana song." Kurt Cobain was a great songwriter in his own right and ironically at the end of this song you can hear him attribute the song to Bowie which was very classy.

I post this as s tribute to two legends: Bowie and Cobain.

Also a huge icon for bisexual men and women. My brother is a huge fan of his music, me not so much but I really love how the guy was not afraid to be different and not afraid to be himself. One of a kind.

Bowie described himself in an interview as a "closet heterosexual." I, on the other hand, am totally out of the closet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL!

one of the great quotes i read today

"He seemed like one of those people who was here before the universe began and would be around to switch the lights off when it was over."

I am honestly still in shock... Bowie's music is intricately part of the person I have become...

my personal favorite:

How can anybody not love this song....
"Time takes a cigarette, puts it in your mouth
You pull on your finger, then another finger, then your cigarette
The wall-to-wall is calling, it lingers, then you forget"

Also that whole album was amazing, enjoy it:

I saw him in concert at the Bell Centre several years ago while on his first North American tour in years. Montreal turned out to be his first venue of that tour since he had been ill for his earlier (cancelled) tour dates.
