Hi everybody.

Happy New Year to all.

Anybody been to China town recently ?

I was there recently and was shocked at the number of interracial couples in restaurants.

Boy, there are millions of French Quebecois girls who ate noodle soups with chopsticks with their Asian boyfriends.

Is this the new trend now ?

Also, anybody has been to Cafe Depot in China town ?

Place seems real nice, with coffee and a mini market close by.

A lot of people use chop sticks to eat soup. You tilt the bowl into your mouth and slurp. The chopsticks are used to help things along.

Not a new trend.

I think he means Quebecois girls dating Oriental guys as a "new trend."

Does this offend anyone? How about African American guys and Quebecois girls? I thought Quebec was a very open minded place as to ethnicity among other things. Is there much prejudice as to interracial dating? I always seem to notice that most of the prejudice is directed at non-caucasian men who date white women while most caucasian men seemingly have no problem dating non caucasian women. Why the double standard? Interesting.

I saw a white comedian on P-diddy's Bad Boys of Comedy on HBO this last summer who had a great line as to the interracial dating issue. He said to a crowd of 90% black people, "I just want to thank each and every black dude in here tonight, for taking all the fat white women off us white dudes hands!" LOL! :p

Actually I think Hydragoat's post says it all. We really don't notice the interracial couple thing here, unless the guy the lady is with looks like a total loser who can't get a job. But seeing "millions" of Quebecois ladies in a restaurant eating noodle soup at the same time would kind of freak me out.:p

I had an Han Chinese girl friend when I was in Peking.
That caused a few hard hateful stares in China. She didn't mind, because I was a rich green eyed foreign devil. I didn't mind because she was the cutest thing with a pedunda you could die for.

As for the Asian guys with Quebecois girls. Sounds like a university crowd. Chinese students are mostly guys.

As for white girls. They know what they can get. An educated looker will have high standards. If she is fat, plain and is pragmatic she will set her standards accordingly. As for guys that want passports out of the third world they will set their sites accordinly also.

But you know all that.

I don't think it's a new trend, Montreal is no different from other North American city. First of all how do you know if they were a couple? They could've been just friends. I'm Asian and I have non-asain female friends who I take to chinatown for lunch or dinner. I wouldn't say Quebec woman are anymore open to interracial relationship than woman from the US or other parts of Canada.

Interracial couples

I'm also Asian and have been dating non-Asian girls for most of my adult life. Pretty normal thing in most big Canadian cities now. I think this is due to the environment we grow up in. I think that many Canadian-Asians (both male and female) who grew up here actually prefer dating non-Asians. After all, we grew up watching Charlie's Angels, Wonderwoman, Miss America, etc., so we end up with a certain impression of what beauty is. Most newly immigrant Asians on the other hand, still prefer to be with their own since their version of what beauty is in their home countries can be very different.

I think the mixing of the races is a good thing. Look at Tiger Woods, a mix of three races: American Indian, Black and Asian. Although I am a Caucasian dude whose personal preference is Caucasian women, I think interracial dating can be fun. I have had sex with women of every other race, but my preference runs to Caucasian women. My preference in cuisine, however, is Asian.

However mixing Chinese and French cuisine is another story. It should never be done, and I personally experienced the disastrous results recently at a Chinatown Restaurant called Le Maison Ghang Zou on de la Gauchietiere. I ordered the Chef's Special Prawn and made the mistake of not asking what it was and just assuming it was "special." What it was, was Chinese food cooked for the Quebecoise palate. The shrimps were served in a thick, rich white sauce like a hollandaise sauce. Shrimps should never be cooked in such a manner. It is really sinful to do so if you ask me. However it is my own fault for not asking what it was. I had hoped to get some authentic Cantonese food and instead got fake Chinese food cooked for the French Canadian palate.

Interesting.

I wouldn't assume that just because men and women are having lunch with each other that they are dating. Often, non-Asians will ask Asian friends to take them to an Asian restaurant.

Anyway, I am Asian-American, and in my whole life in the USA, I have only seen one WF/AM couple. Canada is more liberal, but I don't recall seeing such couples there either.

On the other hand, I see a LOT of WM/AF couples, everywhere. As a matter of fact, many of my female relatives are married to white men.

I have heard from friends that Europe is MUCH more liberal regarding interracial couples than North America.

Is it so disgusting? I, as a caucasian man, date a lot of other ethnicity and never denied my asian girl attraction. No problem with asian men did the same with white girls if it is your problem.

You are right on this one, Lawless. Unless you lived the same situation has i did, you can not imagine how you're right on this one.

EagerBeaver, i guess our palate is not so much developped than your honorable one. Do you know enough about our taste to denigrate it? Maybe this restaurant, by his location, is just what we used to say a tourist trap?

Cargo,

I think you need to re-read my post. I was looking for Chinese food cooked for a Chinese palate, not my palate or a French Canadian palate. You need to do a better job reading the posts. There is a sign in the window saying "authentic Cantonese" so why would I expect anything else?

How is a Chinese restuarant that cooks its food with simulated French type sauces a "tourist trap"?

I read your replies to posts and sometimes it seems as though you do not understand what is being written at all. Maybe you should try using Babelfish-

EB: I like to saute shrimp and then make a garlic white wine cream sauce, which is rich, creamy and sublime ! Not, however, a Hollandaise, which uses eggs as the thickening agent instead of cream. What you got was "a la facon du chef !"

Orientals................the new trend!

A few years ago, I knew a woman that had just went through a divorce. Her husband had dumped her to marry the oriental woman. She told me that quite a few of her friends went through the same thing and also some of her friends children were dating orinetals. She wondered what the hell is so hot about orentals?
I do not know this for a fact, but it could be that it is percieved that oriental women and now oriental men treat their mates with more respect and admiration? I was just told recently by a woman that she had positive expeiences with oriental men and they have a "different mentality".
I am sure the new movie out GEISHA is already giving a few of you guys ideas.

let's get cooking!

Hollandaise is yellowisch (because of the egg yolks and butter)
and should be fluffy like a sabayon
Béchamelle is white and relatively thick (milk, cream, flour)

I like my Shrimps cooked Euro-Asien:
panfried in olive oil, with some garlic, fresh herbs, and caramelised ginger a light lemongrass beurre blanc sauce on the side.

mmmm...! bon appétit :)

Interracial dating/marriage/relationship

I have few wonderful successful asian male friends who like Caucasian women a lot. Maybe I should encourage them to move to Montreal or some where in Canada if that really is a such good place for interracial dating. Can anyone recommend any good place (clubs, disco, social gathering) for some asian guys to initiate dating with Caucasian women? (I'm NOT talking about hobbying ladies here.) Interracial dating in the U.S. is kind of suck for Asian men (with Caucasian women). It's pretty good for Asian women. I wonder if interracial dating/marriage/relationship is really that open specifically between Asian men and Caucasian Women. I wonder if many Caucasian women in Canada have the prejudice attitude toward Asian men like those American women do. I see White dudes dating Asian women all the time. I certainly don't see any problem whatsoever about Asian men dating white women (unless one has certain racist attitude).

Let me tell you something about white girls in Montreal. They pretty much date everyone else but white guys. If only the girls from the other racial groups would recipicate, than as a white guy I would not be left out to dry. That`s why Toronto and Vancouver are my favorit Canadian cities. There, especially if you have that Gino look, I can get most girls without paying for it. It also helps that being an Anglophone, I don`t face the daily discrimination in TO or Vancouver that I face in a sepratist province like Quebec. In TO I have dated Asians, East Indians, Latinas and off course whites. The people, especially the women are very friendly and wow, great looking.

As foor best looking women. TO scores big with Asians, East Indians and East Europens. Montreal scores big with Arabs, Persians and West Europens.

I don`t think that`s true, white girls in Montreal are just as prejudice towards dating non-white guys as any other city. I think anglophone girls tend not to date non-whites. Francophone girls I find are more open. I know I am generalizing people. However being asian myself and lived in Montreal most of my life I can only convey my own experiance.

It doesn`t seem to be much different in Canada. See this thread on TERB:

Vancouver and San Francisco have large Asian populations, so perhaps it may be more possible in those cities.

In any case, there is a good number of Asian hobbyists since Caucasian SPs are often the only way for them to see the kind of Caucasian women they want.

If your asian and want to date a white girl don`t wast your time and money on dating sites.
