Look behind you.
Just purchased 4 section 31 tickets for Montreal. Kind of pissed at the organizers for putting grandstands where general seating used to be, nowhere to sit to get a view except for grandstands unless you get to a spot very early in the morning. Still a good event to watch, had more fun at NASCAR though.

Excellent news Sol..

Back " in the day " General admission granted you excellent access to most of the course..now . General admission gives you horrible sight lines
But the women at the race will make your mouth water ;)

Did you buy tickets just for Sunday, or the whole weekend ?

One highlight during my July trip is riding the circuit on my bicycle..I will time myself this year and post my lap speed
Word on the street is some new guy is showing up to ride with me in his flashy new machine

Look behind you.
I got grandstand seats and the can only be purchased for the entire weekend. Grandstands 31 & 33 usually sell out very fast ( cheapest ) and wanted to make sure I got them.

31 is an excellent corner, and I guarantee that you will see many cars overtaking in that corner. Do they give you an assigned seat #, or is it you just sit where you please ?

"Back in the day", Fridays free practice was really free as nobody really showed up

The organizers just told everyone to sit in the stands

Not anymore though

I think I like the new qualification system. It will be interesting to see what Ferrari can do in a race.

I missed qualifying, but I see McLaren has done much better
Hopefully Alonso will not be wasting his talents this year

Great start to the F1 season in Melbourne Australia:

  1. Thankfully Fernando Alonso walked away unhurt from this terrible crash: https://youtu.be/yQhyHuWLJMI
  2. Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel put in a solid performance to grab the lead at the start and eventually finish third, showing that Ferrari has closed the gap somewhat with Mercedes.
  3. Nico Rosberg beat his teammate Lewis Hamilton for the fifth time in a row (going back to last season) thus demonstrating that he can fight Hamilton for the championship.
  4. In the very first race for the Haas F1 team, the first American F1 team in 30 years, Romain Grosjean drove the Haas car to an amazing 6th place finish. Such a result for a brand new team is outstanding. :thumb:
  5. The Aussie girls looked great as usual. :hail:

Excellent race..Vettel was dominant, as was Kimi..until the red flag ( which stopped the race ) eliminated the big lead that Ferrari had

Great to see Nico win..

Better was the debut of Haas F1..too bad Esteban didnt finish the race

Great to see Mark Webber as the podium interviewer..seems like the hatchet is buried with Vettel..

And yes, the blonde girls were gorgeous, as usual :thumb:

Sidenote- they announced this weekend, the implementation of the safety halo for drivers that I posted in the beginning of the thread. After the Alonso accident, it couldn't come quick enough IMHO

I happened to be in Melbourne this past weekend for the Australian GP and to my great satisfaction, it was indeed a great race. I was pulling for Vettel and that 'red' flag totally screwed up the race for Ferrari, although Raikonen's car likely would have faltered.

The last 10 laps were great to watch since Vettel and Hamilton were barely a second apart for 2nd place and Vettel's car left the track temporarily, which ended any hope of passing Hamilton, who isn't exactly my favorite driver.

Great to see Mark Webber doing the post-race interviews. I've always liked Webber and met him once in Montreal during the festivities. Great person and we all know how much he got screwed by Vettel when they were teammates at Red Bull. Ironically, i'm now pulling for Vettel since i can't stand Hamilton and it seems the Mercedez team has always favored Hamilton over Rosberg.

I was very happy for Carl Haas' new F1 team, which finished 6th if i recall. Grosjean is a very underrated driver and may cause a few surprises this season.

I may just end my 10-year sabbatical this season and may head to Mtl for this year's GP.

Wow Doc Cosby...

Melbourne ( other than Montreal and Austin ) is a verified fan favorite place to watch the race . I am sure Monaco is great, but normal fans cannot afford to go there

Pregunta -did you go to Friday qualifying when it was extremely windy ?

Please tell us how beautiful the female F1 fan is in Australia ?
I know for sure the Quebecois chicas are smoking hot race weekend

Webber has done great since leaving Red Bull

He was World Endurance Champion for Porsche last year
