Most recently, the Megan Boone character (Elizabeth Keen) in one of my favorite tv series "The Black List". I was shocked by her passing!!!

A few years ago, i was both shocked and disappointed at seeing Ned Stark (Sean Bean) getting beheaded at the end of season 1 in the greatest series of all time "Game of Thrones".

Honorable mention: Bobby Ewing (Patrick Duffy) dying in 'Dallas'. But it turned out to be a dream.

When David Duchovny left the original X Files, the show went completely downhill, because the show's success derived in large part from his uncanny chemistry with co-star Gillian Anderson. The show had been on a slight downslide the last season with Duchovny, but the downward spiral rapidly accelerated when he left, and the last two seasons without him were rudderless. I can't think of two actors in a dramatic TV series that had better on screen chemistry than did the Fox Mulder and Dana Scully characters. The chemistry was re-ignited when Duchovny and Anderson were brought back for X Files reboot earlier this year, which was a ratings success. Both actors have aged well, and they slipped right back into their former characters. I was surprised at how good the reboot was.

Andy Whitfield from Spartacus, died of cancer after shooting the first season. The show was still good with the new guy but not the same

Charlie Harper of Two and a half men. Of course it was just a matter of time that the show would have burnt out on its own as it had run 8 seasons with Sheen but it went downhill after he was dismissed.

I could not recover from Andy Whitfield's passing and continue watching Spartacus. As good as the new guy was, season one was it for me.
Dax dying in DS9 was pretty horrible too.

Can't believe what someone wrote about Blacklist. Not caught up on all episodes yet so totally unclear on how they can keep the show going without her.

Also Stana Katic on Castle being forced out or leaving on her own accord (I don't know which). Its hard to believe the series can survive her leaving the show.

Finally, there was Kal Penn's character on House. He left the show to take up a position in the Obama administration, but the way they wrote his character off the show was horrific.

Leslie Shay from Chicago Fire. She was the most positive LGBT character on TV and they killed her after 2 seasons. I've boycotted the show ever since :(

The 'Roman Brady' machinations at 'Days of our Lives'. He disappeared, then came back with plastic surgery and looking totally different from the original actor. And then it turned out that the replacement wasn't Roman Brady after all and the original actor who had portrayed Roman Brady returned without having undergone any plastic surgery, after all. If it sounds confusing, it is!!

Another similar actor replacement occurred in the tv series "Dynasty" where the Steven Carrington character portrayed by Al Corley was replaced by Jack Coleman in the following season. You guessed: he underwent major plastic surgery after being disfigured due to an explosion aboard an oil rig.

Same thing with all the Batman replacements over the years. There wasn't anything wrong with Michael Keaton. But replacing him with Val Kilmer & George Clooney was plain mis-casting. Christian Bale was great. Not sure about Ben Afflect. I suppose we could say the same thing about the James Bond franchise and now with Spiderman.

Same here. Although i found her somewhat annoying and her character only semi-believable, Megan Boone's character was the main character of the show. Of course, i watched it mostly because of the great James Spader's performance and i feel he made the show. But to get rid of its main character?? My guess is that the show was likely approaching the end of its run and they want to end it with a bang. My guess is that Spader felt its possibly time to move on to other projects. And let's be real: the show can probably survive without the Megan Boone character, but definitely not without James Spader.

I somewhat find annoying the fact the 'Jack Ryan' character is portrayed by so many people in the movies and they all are so different from one another. For me, 'Jack Ryan' was best portrayed by Harrison Ford. He was portrayed earlier by Alec Baldwin. If my memory is correct, he was also portrayed by Ben Affleck and more recently by Chris Pine.

Coach (Nicholas Colasanto) from Cheers; and Barney from the Andy Griffith Show. Seriously.

Montreal, of course
I remember feeling like I had been kicked in the stomach when Gary Shepherd (played by Peter Horton) died in Thirtysomething. It's been decades and, to this day, I still feel bad when I think about it.

Close second are Robb Stark and Talisa Maegyr (Richard Madden and Oona Chaplin) in Games of Throne. She, being pregnant and being stabbed in the belly was an unbelievable shocker.

Hello all

Katie Holmes played Bruce Wayne's childhood friend and love interest, Rachel Dawes, in "Batman Begins." However, Maggie Gyllenhaal played Dawes in "The Dark Knight."one of the most successful domestic grosser at the time

Charlie Sheen - Two and a Half Men. Stopped watching it when he got kicked off the show. Never the same. How can one go wrong when he's playing his real self on the show.
