Theodore depressed

Well I hear that Theodore is so depressed that he tried to commit suicide, he jumped in front of the metro but the freakin train went right through his legs.

Another one that got by him.

It gets worse....

Failed IOC drug test for Jose. He wasn't going anyway. There is a rumour the banned substance is Rogaine. Don't know if Rogaine is a banned substance but it apparently masks other drugs in the body.

Dr Mulder said that it is not a performance enhancer substance... I think we figured that one out.

The substance he tested positive for can act as a masking agent for a certain type of steroid, it is found in medication taken for hair loss (which Theodore does take). It is important to know that it only masks one specific type of steroid and nothing else, also it was only added to the banned substance list very recently.

I think this will turn out pretty harmless (unlike the whole Rick Tocchet/Mob book making thing), if anyone has ever seen Theodore will agree that he is not trying to mask any type of steroid, athletes don't get much thinner than poor old Jose.

Hw has been taking it for 8-9 years according to team physician Dr. David Mulder. And it's not Rogaine it's Propecia. The banned ingredient is finasteride which can also be found in Proscar, a drug prescribed to people with an enlarged prostate. Not only can it mask only a couple of steroids but finasteride would make for a strange choice of drug to take if performance enhancement was the ultimate goal. Finasteride comes with a number of side effects such as loss of libido, testicular pain, breast tenderness and enlargement -- hardly the symptoms an active sportsman would want to take a chance with.

Much ado about nothing...

Wrong! he "says he has been taking it for over 1 year......It can also "mask" pot and Cocaine, which was rumored that he dabbled in...

Wrong!
"Mulder said Theodore tested positive because the goalie has been taking Propecia, a hair-growth stimulant, for about eight years -- even though he has a full head of hair." (Associated Press)

First of all, I don't like Theodore as a person based on some friends who met him, slept with him or knew him a few years ago, and I think he should be a third goalie behind Huet and Danis. Despite that, right now, based on all we know, I don't think he is doped.

Oliver, without showing disrespect, taking steroids does not make you an expert in that subject. Sure, it makes you someone who knows more about this shit than I. I took many medicine in my life, it does not make me a pharmacist.

If I say that Dr. Mulder's testimony is BS because he is on the habs payroll, than the only credible interview I saw was that of Dr. Ayotte's. She works for "Agence Mondial Anti-Dopage" and has no benefits in lying. She said that this product masks like 2 or 3 different types of steroids, that it has very restrictive hiding effects. And the steroids that can be used with this are, if I remember correctly, quite body altering.

And I totally believe in Jose Theodore when he says that taking Propecia has helped prevent his baldness. Of course it does not, because it works. And knowing how good-looking he is and how maketable it was, he took every chance he had to keep it that way.

Again, I am not saying the guy's an angel, I mostly think he is an a-hole, and I would not be surprised if future tests shows positives on some substance in the future. But right now, based on what was said, there is no evidence he took performance enhancing substance. And all the past tests he took were negative. I am not naive, I am just viewing things as they are. Now it would be something else if someone, let's say Ribeiro, told the press he saw Theo with a syringe in the locker room. But now, no proof, so I have to believe.

Oliver,
Thanks for the precision, it is very interesting.

We'll see how it turns out. There is many question marks here and it is impossible to have a clear view of everything. One thing is sure, is that, Theo proves me once again that he is a moron. He did not say he was using Propecia when he filled a form for the Olympics. How dumb the guy is??? I think this is why I can't get to my head he is taking drugs, he is too much of an idiot to pull this scam with all the media coverage he is under.... of course, one might argue that most of the sport reporters are clowns... Anyhoo, the next few weeks should be interesting, especially the crowd reactions back in Bell Centre.

Correction

I will have to correct my previous statement because I just heard Dr. Ayotte again, earlier I was going from memory. She said that Propecia can be used to mask "Nandrolone" (spelling?) and that substance can be used to improve endurance and stamina without growing muscular mass.

Just wanted to had the clarification.

If Theo had been taking steroids for a period of 8-9 years, I'm sure we would have heard rumors and stories before now. Especially from ex teammate Dave Morissette who wrote a book where he talked about his own use of steroids and other banned substances ans stated that such practices were commonplace. In fact, I'm sure he going to chime in on this issue pretty soon if he hasn't already.

I'm much more convinced that Lance Armstrong took EPO than Jose Theodore took steroids. :)
