They got one touchdown early against New England which used a last minute 3rd stringer (Brissett) who had to start because it was decided late Garappolo couldn't play, and still the Bills couldn't score a TD again for more than 3 quarters. But yes, despite Brissett's overall ineptitude and Gronkowski's injury the Bills deserve a lot of credit defensively.

I hope the league enjoyed not having to face Brady gift-wrapped to them by Railroading Goodell who played judge, jury, and executioner, and still the Patriots went 3-1. On to Cleveland and the rest. Let's see how it goes without our best arm behind our back....or do you guys need it that way...LOL!

Tom Brady went over 5000 completions today in his 16th year as a starter (only 3 plays and 1 completion in 2000) putting him 4th just past Dan Marino, and behind Drew Brees, Peyton Manning, and Brett Favre in ascending order.

It’s a big number for Brady, but it doesn’t actually move him up the list at all. He’s still solidly at fourth all time. He passed Dan Marino, who had 4,967 competitions in his career, before today. He’s still behind Saints’ QB Drew Brees, the only other active player ahead of him. Brees had 5,481 going into today, so Brady is significantly behind and the numbers for both will just keep climbing.

At the top of the list is Brett Favre, with 6,300 exactly, and then Peyton Manning, with 6,125. Both are retired and could technically be caught if Brady – or Brees – simply plays long enough to catch up.

It’s still a tall task, though. Brady averages right around 350 completions per year. He did set a career high with 402 last year. Even so, he’s more than a season behind Brees, who will keep increasing the mark, and he’s around three years behind Manning. If he plays four more seasons, he could become the leader, at least if Brees retires at some point in there and doesn’t hold the mark himself.

Brady is 39 now and absolutely looks like he could play four more years, but, as we saw with Manning, QBs don’t always have a nice slow decline. He could hit a wall. Again, though, he still looks like the best QB in the NFL and Favre did play until he was 41. Steve DeBerg, Vinny Testaverde and Warren Moon all played until they were 44.

That's too bad really. Buffalo is one of my two pet favorite teams along with Minnesota. I have family who are Bills fans and I'd love to see the team win a Super Bowl if the Patriots aren't there. I heard they were very tough this year. Unfortunately I think Rex Ryan has a hard ceiling potential because of his free-wheeling style. He can get a team to the playoffs but the real discipline to win it all doesn't come with his methods.

RYAN INSPIRES BILLS? I heard a recording of Rex Ryan giving the team an inspirational speech, sort of. It was supposed to be inspirational to Rex's thinking. It seems someone had said something taken as disrespectful about a member of the organization. I didn't get what it was but it wasn't much. Rex decided to use it to motivate the team. The gist: oh you can't get away with disrespecting anyone in our organization Rex said. We are going to go out there and take it to them to show what happens when they disrespect us. The offended party? Rex's brother who wouldn't be there if not for Rex.

Is the team really going to sacrifice themselves more in honor of nepotism? For Rex's brother? Maybe not?

As for the game, I'd never go too far in predictions, but it would seem unlikely an injured Bills team would win, even if Rex's defensive schemes have been tough on the Patriots at times.

GOODELL! After Ray Rice decked his fiance on camera and Goodell botched the whole episode with a laughably insulting 2 game suspension he made a new policy to get tough on these kind of physical abuse incidents as follows:

So in response to this episode Brown got a 1 game suspension sustained AFTER "the NFL did receive a number of documents in August of this year, which included the transcript of a lengthy interview Brown's wife gave investigators shortly after the incident, in which she alleged at least 20 instances of abuse over several years." The NFL says that despite the transcript wife Molly had declined to speak with them and that made evidence insufficient.

Yet, "New York Giants co-owner John Mara told radio station WFAN New York that Brown "certainly admitted to us that he abused his wife in the past."

"And Mara said he knew of an incident at the January 2016 Pro Bowl in Hawaii — the NFL's all-star game — when the NFL reportedly had to help Molly Brown and her three children find a different place to stay after she felt threatened by her husband at the player's hotel."


The Giants response to handling these episodes??? So after being arrested for spousal assault in May 2015, and more incidents through 2016, which Mara says the Giants knew about, they gave Brown a new $4 million contract in mid-April 2016.

Had Goodell stuck to the 6 -game suspension policy he and the Giants would not be facing humiliation after documents were uncovered showing Giants kicker Josh Brown admitted: "I have physically abused my wife." The Gaints knew there was a significant problem as Goodell did and yet the suspension was still 5 games under a policy of 6 games FOR A FIRST OFFENSE.

OMG!!! Just watched two plays. Brady hits his receiver from 48 yards out to the one inch line of the Bills. But there's a pass interference call and the Patriots are back 5 yards behind scrimmage. The huge play is nullified. Next play, Brady hit FORMER BILLS receiver Hogan for a 53 yard TD. HOWZ BOUT DATTT.

Just heard Dion Lewis could be back next week. This guy can run or receive very effectively.

In a sloppy game of many penalties the Patriots dominate away. They now go into the second half of the season with the best record in the NFL despite the ridiculous 4 game suspension to Brady who has not thrown an interception (no quarterback on the team has) and playing like the league MVP with a 132.6 rating at age 39. They now go into a bye week with the likely return of Dion Lewis for the next game.

Unlike the last two years where the offensive line was a musical chairs situation of injuries the O-line is stable. Most players are healthy and only two reasonably tough, Seahawks and Broncos, teams to face with a 3 game lead in their division. If key players stay healthy they've got the best potential in the NFL.

What a game in Big D tonight........Instant classic with the good guys winning. These Cowboys are looking like the team to beat in the NFC.

A shocking trade in Patriots Nation, one of many previously. Jamie Collins a player with diverse gifts and great potential is gone to Cleveland. Why? The first reason is obvious but maybe not the main one. He turned down a contract offer of $11 million and is said to be wanting Von Miller money over $20 million. However the real reason it happened this soon is probably a decline in production (down from 11 tackles per game a season to slightly over 6), possible failure to follow game plans as directed, and significant hints of an attitude or motivation issue. Remember Randy Moss, Ochocinco, Richard Seymour and more?

Belichick has a long history of dealing top potential players when they might become a block to the future whether for money or anything else. It makes Patriots fans crazy but it has kept them in among the serious Super Bowl contenders for 16 straight years. It doesn't keep fans from saying...WTF...but the results are indisputable. This time it's looking like their was much more than just free agency next year involved in the decision. Like it or not. The Collins deal is shocking and Patriots fans are shaking their heads. ..again...but this kind of thing keeps on working out.
