Look behind you.
For any sporting event I put a $250 max on tickets, same with concerts.

If the habs were my favorite team, i wouldn't pay more than $300 for a ticket and it would have to be premium seating. I'm not sitting in the nosebleeds when the game is being shown for free on tv.

Many years ago, a good buddy of mine went to his first NHL hockey game and had paid $200 for his ticket. He had been looking forward to the game for months. He was like a little kid going to the circus for the first time. Well, the game ended 9-1 for the other team and by the time the game attended the place was three-quarters empty. He never went to an NHL hockey again and doubts he'll ever go back.

Before last night's game, pundits and people on social media and others calling in to radio talk shows were bragging about their habs, how it was likely they'd make it all the way to the finals and how good most of them were and that Carey Price would be Carey Price again in the upcoming game and the habs would be heading to NY today to 'seal the deal'.

And then right after the game and this morning, totally different story. They're crap, it's the same problems all over again, Price has been ordinary and hasn't stolen a game yet, Pacioretty has yet to score, same thing with Galchenyuk and he had zero hits in last night's game, Dwight King is slow, useless and has no business playing ahead of McCarron (i agree!!), Beaulieu and Petry are terrible, Carey Price looks uninterested and arrogant when he speaks to the media, still no #1 center, Markov is old, Webber should be on the ice for the entire powerplay, Claude Julien was outcoached by Alain Vigneault once again and he made bad decisions, Marc Bergevin should be worried about his job since Buffalo cleaned house yesterday, etc. Unbelievable how a mindset can change in under 12 hours!!!!!!

Only in Montreal!!!!!!!!

The best tweet i saw last night during the game was TSN radio's Tony Mariano tweeting that maybe it's time to clean house and go for a full rebuild and when a responder tweeted that a full rebuild would never be allowed in Montreal, Mariano tweeted back "THEY DID IT IN TORONTO!!!"

I love it!!! :thumb:

Note that Toronto's full tilt rebuild was supposed to last up to 5 years and fans were told to expect a lot of hurting for the first 3 years or so. Well, to everyone's surprise it took less than two years for the team to become playoff contenders and not many teams in the league have a brighter outlook than the young Leafs, who are still among the league's youngest teams and their top players still years away from reaching their peak.

p.s. Tony Mariano just said on TSN 690 that the series is over unless Carey Price steals the next game. One of the hosts than said "and they trade him during the offseason if he doesn't steal the win!" Nilan and Mariano didn't reply.

The Rangers are a better team than the Habs though, played in a tougher division and had more points. They were a wildcard only because the other three teams were over 100 points..

I got to Ottawa watch a game once as part of a contest with RDS that my friend won. Our places where decent, we where beihind a net pretty much in the middle. Maybe center seats facing the camera or behind the tv camera would had been better but in any case honestly i wouldn't had paid more than 50$ for that... It was weird to watch the game without commentators, kinda like missing some atmosphere. Plus i enjoy the different angles show on TV and i just think the view is much better. I guess the fan reactions and atmosphere is what is supose to make the difference but you can have this at a sport bar or whatever. And im not even mentioning how overprice the food and beer is ... Thanksfully they gave us gift cards for that too and i ended up with 3 of them as my friends where not into beer or junk food much lol. Ill admit the fact that Ottawa won 3-1 that game and didn't Price didn't even played suck a bit too. And well yeah it was an away game, so when the Habs scored there was not even a siren or whatever it definately lacked... i don't like watching away games on TV in the first place imagine... lol

Anyway i just feel Hockey tickets are overprice, be it regular season or playoffs, especially in MTL. And you never know what type of game you may go to. Can be a super boring game finishing 1-0 for the other team, can be a 9-1 beatdown like the guy mentioned above, but it can be an exiting 5-3 games too... your just never sure. When i pay to see concerts even if my tickets can sometimes cost me 200$ (VIP) im sure ill have a great time, i know the band will sing just as great as always.

So yup its hockey on TV for me...lol

I have been to wrestling shows too a few times and again i feel the view is much better on TV, i was 5th row in front of a turnbuckle for a RAW/Smackdown show and even tough the view on the ring was cool it everytime they would go out of the ring i wouldn't see a thing. I always said if i go see WWE again ill go for a house show, even if the talents present are less impressive, they usually are more open to interact with fans and the attendance is smaller. I think the cake is when i see peoples filming wrestlemania from the top row of the arena, you can barely see the ring LOL and they probably still pay at least 150$ for that...

I wholeheartedly agree & that's usually the case in major hockey markets like Toronto, Montreal and New York City. The next time i attend a live NHL hockey game may occur in a US city my favorite team is visiting. Just the savings alone from avoiding paying near-astronomical prices for a ticket in Toronto or Mtl will help cover some of the expenses for the trip.

NBA basketball tickets are also very highly priced in major NBA cities and in Toronto. It's as bad as hockey.

That's why i prefer attending MLB games over the summer. MLB is still extremely affordable for sports fans. A top ticket at the Rogers Centre in Toronto will cost under $90.

Yeah it really depend on the city. In Ottawa one of my Gatineau friend (his team is Ottawa) said he pays usually under 35$ for a ticket. Its not front row but its a decent seat and sometimes theres empty seats and he just move out and its never noticed... lol

When its MTL tough this is not the same thing. Cost more, can't move seats. But when playing second rate teams like Buffalo or whatever, you can see your team live and it won't cost much as long as you avoid buying beer obviously lol.

Im surprise to hear MLB is cheap, considering how astronomical the players are paid at times... more than hockey. As for Basketball, i would guess cause the arenas are smaller... it cost more?

Well, they play 162 games in baseball, which helps offset the costs. And the stadiums are bigger with many teams regularly having 30 000-45 000 fans per game. And the tv revenue as compared to hockey is huge!
