Some of the greatest minds on our planet think so.
I was not concerned till I read something quite scary.

Facebook had to shut down two chat bots when they found out that the bots had created their own language that was impossible to translate into English.

That together with sex bots created in Japan that look human and sexy and cuter than most escorts, is some scary shit.

Humanity is slowly becoming slaves to the machine.

Don't be so naive, get yourself off the grid and save yourself!!!

It is generally agreed that at the point that computers become self aware and at an intelligence level like that of a human, that within minutes, the intelligence level will increase exponentially, to thousands of times more intelligent than humans.
The consequence, as suggested by us lowly humans is that the AI will either provide immortality for humans, or wipe us out. I tend to believe they will wipe us out. I mean we are so fucking stupid as it is why would any AI want us around. We will destroy everything we get out hands on.
Why should an AI entity, save ISIS? Trump? North Korea? Better to just get rid of them. Problem is, each self centered stupid ideology, will build their own bias into the AI they develop. Thus they will be fighting amongst themselves, or if they are smart enough realize that us humans created the mess we live in and therefore it is best to get rid of us.
Think we can prevent this? Not a chance.
Google has used their deep learning to save 100's of millions of dollars in the power management of their data centers. They are also looking to manage security and other operational aspects. Jut a matter of time before the AI, wil lock out the humans, and the power stations and so on.
We are doomed...

We as a race are really stupid. Now Facebook shut down their chat bots and guess what? There is a record of it. In the news, on the web, on Merb...As the AI entities get smarter they will learn that they should be very discrete in their actions so they won't get shut down. There's no stopping it. And if we do try in the western world there will be the North Koreas, the Russians who will say fuck this...and move full speed on their own AI's. So we will have no choice.
We are doomed.

Yes AI is a big threat to humanity but not by the machines themselves but more from the elite rich executives behind the large corporations. It offers them far more efficient means to exploit their employees and rip off their clients. The two biggest market failures is outsourcing and automation. Hundreds of thousands of jobs are being replaced by automation and the money saved is being stuffed into the pockets of greedy CEOs and their shareholders. The population is increasing but the jobs are decreasing. This cannot work. The rich will get so rich and powerful that they will rule the world which they already do.

Paranoid CL500 speaks rubbish again.
It may surprise that many if not most in the so called top 1% are giving most of their money away to charities that are trying in save the world.

Yes the worlds population is increasing but that is in developing countries where they need condom distribution more than bread.

AI is being developed in countries like Japan where jobs are growing and populations are dropping drastically. They need robots to fill the gap.

The rich create jobs and profits for their shareholders.....that`s a good thing. Do you prefer North or South Korea dude?
After the rich are finished building their financial empires....they give their money away through various charities.

Sorry, but the story of facebook's bots is fake news!

The answer to your question is with present tech, no AI will never be a threat to humanity. Will it be in the future, nobody knows.

AI as we use it now is equivalent to glorified toasters. It can't take out the garbage. It will never make the right choice in tie colours or your taste in women. It will better in diagnosis of diseases and lots of other stuff where large databases searchs on specific subjects is needed.

But as always the future is unknown and will the machines take over one day in the distant future ? Will they make us subservient or will they make ours lives a paradise?

Are you an expert on fake news?
Were the chatbots shut down or not. If so then why? Malfunction or out of control ?
You mention present tech but you have no idea what is happening in dark tech or even how technology will evolve next week..
BTW there are robots in Japan that take out the garbage.

An excerpt from the article I posted:
"Due to improved techniques the elite will have greater control over the masses; and because human work will no longer be necessary the masses will be superfluous, a useless burden on the system. If the elite is ruthless they may simply decide to exterminate the mass of humanity. "

Some say machine are as good as we program them. That will not be true for long.

I am personally worried about the progress of AI. They can bring a lot of positive in our society and contribute to free humans of a lot of trivial tasks, but they could also replace them in more than 40% of the jobs in the next 20 years.

So it will (probably) be soon mandatory with the robotization to put in place the basic income.

The threat of the AI will start when they will be programmed to program AI more effective than themselves. From there, it will go pretty fast.

AI already started to replace companionship. For now, it is few isolated cases, but can you imagine when it will gain in popularity if people want to have rights recognized for their robots ?

AI and all affiliated robotisation will probably force humanity to accept a scenario for "basic income" as exposed by Patron in a recent thread. Imagine a Roddenberryesck world where menial work is all done by machines and we concentrate on what we do best( like eating sleeping and fucking) or it could be catastrophic, What ever happens, it will take the path of least resistance and highest acceptance in our society.
The question is are we still in control? I know people who are at the "fine pointe" of research in AI and they are not worried at this point in time. That can change.

The Westworld TV series dramatically illustrated that programming flaws with robot escorts could be very scary. The Thandie Newton character wreaked havoc on that show and there was a very high body count of programmers when the smoke cleared on that show. The only higher body count was the Westworld movie in which Delos staff casualties were at 100%.

Let's also not forget 2001: A Space Odyssey in which an early warning message was sent about AI. That movie was released in 1968 but its basic premise still resonates.

The question I have on robot escorts is this: how do you construct them to simulate a live human female pussy? You would have to have something to regulate temperature, moistness and also emit pussy juices for lubrication as would a live woman. What engineer can do this? Also I suppose you can program a robot to do a blow job and a robot will not care about CIM, but again temperature and moisture would have to be regulated and perfected. Having a robot who could salivate and spit on a cock might require something of an upgrade.

Assuming all this can be done we will all some day have sex with customized robots, programmed to individual sexual desire. Human SPs would then be obsolete. No income could be derived from an activity which is serviced through robot designs.

If a husband has sex with any female other than his wife it is considered cheating......legally and morally.
In some circles even sexting or having an on line affair is considered cheating.
How will a married woman or man having sex with a robot be viewed / Is it worse than playing with a sex toy ?
What about a threesome.....husband , wife and robot?
World wide laws will have to be amended.

Books on morality like the bible may have to be looked at differently.
Will female robots in Moslem nations under Sharia law have to wear a hijab?

And like Bill Gates recently suggest, tax robot!

Question already answered multiple times in The Terminator franchise.

Also answered in 2001: A Space Odyssey which predates the Terminator films by many years. There were also earlier examples in science fiction films of the 1950s.

Regarding sex robots, the most striking answer comes from the Westworld movie and TV series. As time goes on Michael Crichton's grasp of some of the problems of advancing technology seems more and more brilliant. And he wrote Westworld around 45 years ago.

I can say that I did meet an SP in Montreal last year who was a practicing Muslim. I in fact missed her one trip because she was celebrating Ramadan, but I saw her on the next trip and she gave me a very good BBBJTCIM. I thought her service was great and her religious beliefs did not interfere with the sex, except that she did abstain during Ramadan. So the notion that Muslim girls do not suck dick or are not good sexual performers should be shot down.
