Mayweather Attempted To Bet On Himself

Apparently Mayweather attempted to bet on himself and was denied:

Nevada apparently does not have any legal regulations on boxers betting on themselves, but Mayweather confused the bookmaker by adding over/under on rounds and knockout status

Personally i found it an entertaining fight. It went longer than expected and McGregor did a lot better than most people believed he would. Lack of ring experience hurt him but by the 7th round he was gassed. When you've been trained to go 25 minutes for most of your career and suddenly you've been standing on your feet for 30+ minutes, there is a big difference no matter how much you've been training for it.

It would have been even closer, or altogether different, had they fought with four-ounce gloves. McGregor definitely surprised many with his ability to compete.

The thing is you have to pick the rules of one sport. You can't cherry pick certain rules from MMA and certain rules from boxing. Otherwise we wouldn't call it boxing, we would call it Martial Boxing. There is no such sport.

They could have chosen whatever rules they agreed upon, whether boxing, mma, or a hybrid. McGregor's negociating position was certainly weakened by this being his first huge purse. There will probably be other crossover fights, given the money generated by this one. I predict that future bouts of this type will include more hybrid rules.

Well if they use hybrid rules then the result of the fight does not constitute a win in either sport but rather a fictional hybrid sport. As things stand this fight was considered a boxing win for Mayweather, allowing him to retire 50-0. With hybrid rules, it is no longer a boxing win. He retires 49-0 in boxing, 1-0 in the fictional hybrid sport, and shares the Marciano record instead of breaking it.

I know there is boxing 6oz gloves but i don't think there legal in the sport... im not sure. But they do exist.

Actually it turned out to be better than most expected. Overall it was a very entertaining fight. Gotta give Mcgregor props, for his first ever professional boxing match he went toe to toe with the best ever but eventually the old guy wore out the younger.

If Mcgregor wanted one more boxing match, I could see him knocking out that big mouthed cry baby from brookyln, Paulie Malignaggi.

All in all it was a great event last night for the two fighters (made a gazillion dollars) the fans who were interested (millions) and also for both sports factions (boxing and mma) and the city of Las Vegas...everybody won. It would have been nice to see Conor with the victory in the ring but experience won out in the end. If there were to be a rematch i would bet on Conor.

Connor unloaded the payload very early and burn himself. He always had trouble in term of stamina even in the UFC if going for 5 rounds. We saw it againt Diaz in both fights. So yeah he clearly had no juice left at the end and this what cause his demise. I don't think he was properly K.O as mostly he just had no juice left and couldn't defend wich led to the referee stoppage. Was it a bit early? Probably a little bit, but the result would had stay the same... Connor wouldn't had come back. I guess it come to the "the referee wanted to protect him"

As for Floyd, some peoples says he let Connor do that good in the first rounds "for the show" . Could be true or not... i dunno.

But i think that Connor could definately boxe again... i mean he literally was going against the top dog in his first fight... give him some lower ranked boxers and he could totally get wins.

Having boxed and done some jiu jitsu myself (at a very low level), I was somewhat surprised that it was the older boxer that had better cardio than the younger mma fighter. Two minutes of jiu jitsu is considerably more taxing than two minutes boxing. That being said, McGregor does have a history of tiring in later rounds.
