He told me he pays 53% of his salary in taxes or something like that. Otherwise likes Montreal. He is from South Carolina played college ball at UNC. I wished him well. He said the team has a lot of new parts/coaches.

Poor Darian....from now he still will have to go through big changes-coaches......wish him the best...not an easy task.

That's a good story, thanks for sharing. Durant started his professional career with the Baltimore Ravens but never got past the practice squad due to his small stature. Being 5'11 is considered too small to be a QB in the NFL, i suppose. Unless you're as talented as Drew Brees. But Durant then went on to play in the CFL and had a very successful career while with the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

He's now 35 and his days in pro football will eventually come to an end. He's only been in Mtl this season and i have a feeling it may be his last. But a 12-year pro football career is nothing to sneeze at.

I've seen other Alouettes players at other establishments such as The Keg whenever i'm in Mtl. I saw a few of them (with their wives and girlfriends) after games they played. I never actually spoke with any of them. A buddy of mine had previously met John Bowman and when he approached him one night Bowman denied who he was and kept on walking. I kidded my buddy (and continue to do so) about this and he simply stated "my guess is that he wants his privacy, no big deal".

I used to know an sp who was a real groupie towards Alouettes players. She had even partied with some of them when they were having their Grey Cup parade. One time we were having dinner together and she started raving to me about meeting Alouettes players and partying with them. She was acting like it was such a big deal. She was shocked when i told her that the majority of those players (minus the QB, which was Anthony Calvillo at the time) earned a lot less than any of us. She had been under the impression that they were all millionaires. I laughed and told her that most of those players are lucky if they even make $43 000 (at the time) from playing in the CFL. She was shocked. I can still remember the look she had when i told her this and i chuckle. :lol:

WOW...quelle saison misérable des ALS....11 défaites consécutives dont hier 33-0.....faut le faire...un record peu enviable....vivement la fin de la saison.....un gros ménage s'impose sinon je ne donne pas cher du futur de cette équipe moribonde ...

ALS au fond des bas fond. Impact saison de misère malgré un line up solide. Habs qui s'enligne pour une saison semblable mais bon le line up n'est pas top.

Que se passe t'il à Montréal? Cela dis, ca nous laisse plus de temps pour les filles

I dont agree, i think the cfl is highly underrated, obv i follow the nfl closer, but i love the cfl too, its great when im in canada in the summer and theres pro football on!

Agree with the last 2 comments...i watch both NFL and CFL...of course we are not talking of same quality of football BUT CFL delivers good and exciting games....with spectacular plays.

I can’t say I am a big fan of the CFL, but I am just glad that some American college players have some place to go and play if they don’t make it in the NFL, guys like Darian Durant, Ricky Ray and Larry Taylor, even if as Darian told me it’s at a heavily taxed salary. A few years ago Larry Taylor, one of my favorite UConn players, made it as a kick returner with the Alouettes and made All-CFL. Taylor was probably the best kick returner in UConn history and is responsible for the most famous return in UConn history in a nationally televised college football game, the so called “immaculate return”. Which I will find and post below. Unfortunately Taylor was only good for a few years because the kick returning profession is replete with occupational hazards, especially when you are 5’6” and 170 pounds like the gritty Taylor. Guys like this get shot bodies pretty quickly. And in the CFL, no fair catch rule so Taylor would have gotten destroyed on the play I will post below.
