Amazon said its second headquarters should have easy access to an airport with direct flights to Seattle, New York, San Francisco and Washington D.C.

If you were Jeff Bezos, what would be your criterias?

Pour son second siège social, Amazon désire un accès rapide à un aéroport offrant des vols directs vers Seattle, New York, San Francisco et Washington D.C.

Si vous étiez Jeff Bezos, sur quoi vous baseriez-vous pour faire votre sélection?

Patron we do give incentives to corporations. For some it's done differently, mostly by giving a % back on employe salary. Like the multimedia credit which gives back to the corporation about 26% on all salary involved in multimedia (for a game company like ubisoft or EA it's every employee less the administrative department, millions in kick back). There is the same kind of credit for ecomerce. Pretty sure this is where Amazon would fall to.

Hopefully Amazon will not do like chinese Foxcon, promising thousand of jobs (for which Trump was bragging about as much as when he would grabbing pussy) in order to get as many incentives as possible but then ending up with just a few hundred low paid and overworked employee that no US based citizen wants in the first place.

I would put my bet on Toronto.

Cheers,

Atlanta, Pittsburg, Boston, Dallas, San Francisco, Toronto, among other cities are all in the run. I would not bet on MTL

Why SF? Their main one is in Seatle, why building another one so close? The idea is to be on the east coast no?

Cheers

very probable chance to be Austin, Texas. they need the space (they want to build up to 8 millions square feet) which Austin have. also very low or no tax at all. Apple second HQ is in Austin. also a lot of the big tech companies are in Austin. Toronto is wishful thinking but highly doubtful as if it's Toronto, it'll be in the suburbs because Toronto simply doesn't have the space to accommodate what Amazon wants to do in it's near future.

if they really want it, Europe would make the most sense for the international market

Trump will make sure it goes to an American city.

This could be an interesting battle indeed as Bezos (main owner of amazon and the Washington Post) is Trump's big time enemy. Bezos could play the immigration problem to actually locate in Canada, bypassing the law which restricted and annoyed so many tech company.

Cheers,

Amazon do have an office in Vancouver, many of their foreign employees at Seattle HQ who can't get a H1B visa would be relocated to Vancouver, mostly Chinese and Indians. And their salaries would shrink down to 70% of what they are paid in Seattle.

I say it is unlikely that Amazon would put a second office so close to their headquarters just across the border in Vancouver. I will bet it will be east coast.

It is amazing that Coderre would say that he would try to get Amazon to locate in Montreal, and so close to a municipal election. I would say it is impossible for Amazon to locate in Montreal. They would have to locate in Laval or north. There is just no room on the island of Montreal to build such a huge facility.

They are looking at the old Blue Bonnet site... Also close enough to P.E.T. airport.

They could also go to Mirabel and transform the facilities for a private airport.

Look behind you.
Montreal is not in the running, latest news is Denver or Calgary.

Coderre was only talking through his pig face because there is an election in a few weeks. Montreal does not have a chance.

drotton...

I'm not doing anything close to what you call "wishful thinking". I'm not from MTL.

But when I read the second part of your comment, I wonder what MTL is missing... It has everything you are citing... MTL has direct connections with most of the European major cities. Amazon said they needed to get closer to Europe...

I also think Amazon is looking for a second hq AND a warehouse... Why in the World would they need that much room for only a HQ? They want something almost ten times the size of the Empire State building.

Unless you work for Amazon, nothing good actually comes from that company operating in your city ...
Just more problems. Don’t kid yourself. That being said ...

East coast for sure.
