Exchange rate...just how low can it go?

Was shocked to see the exchange rate for the us dollar at only $1.10. Have to wonder how this will effect the touring hobbiests who come to Canada. Im pretty sure Toronto will see a huge dropoff of business from the average joe's with a limited supply of spending cash. Montreal on the other hand might only experience a slight dropoff...guessing more hobbiests will give Montreal a try for the better rates. With the lower rates digging into the wallet for a couple extra twenty's will be necessary ($180us for a $200cad outcall). Alot of green for what amounts basically to a 35 minute session (time your next couple of calls and get the average).

I wont have to worry about this rate for at least a couple more month's...making another run to Germany for the fkk's. The us dollar is also in the dumps compared to the euro...only thing keeping it worthwhile are the cheap rates. An hour rate at some of the clubs is only $95. Some clubs even offer 20 minute rates for $32 if you can live with cbj, daty and fs. And from what ive been told...it was 50% cheaper 5 years ago. Imagine paying a twenty for twenty minutes of fun.

It's really pretty amazing....can still recall the summer of 2002 when a 2 hour HDH date, for $450(CDN), was purchased for $290(US). I do think it is going to get worse. We'll just have to wait and see where it bottoms out............

Even with an even exchange rate, it's still cheaper to hobby in Canada. Assuming an even exchange rate, the only places in the US that are cheaper to hobby than Canada are North Carolina and Alabama.

Outside of exchange rate, gas prices will eventually have an impact.

    Further back

Around 2000 I was getting around 155 CAD for 100 USD after exchange fees.

Good for you, Bman. I'll be heading there later this summer to check out Oase, World and the Palace in Frankfurt. About those "cheap" rates... You have to factor in the entrance fee which is 65 euros at the aforementioned big clubs and 50 euros at the smaller clubs. Plus you have to factor in the higher airfare and the car rental. But if you end up shagging 20-30 Eastern European babes on your trip then on a per session basis with all the other costs included, I think you'll end up spending about the same as in Montreal. Just a very different experience.

    FX and US debt

A big chunk of the US debt is currently held by the likes of China and Saudi Arabia. So if these foreign investors decide to sell their US dollar denominated investments, expect the dollar to weaken further.

P...i'll be in Dusseldorf where the entry is a bit lower and the rates for the girls and their extra's lower still. Clubs i plan on visiting have entry rates from 25 to 50 euro's max...girls rates are 50 euro's for the first half hour, 25 euro's for the additional half hours you add on. So if you find yourself a hotty who's service is out of this world you can keep her for two hours of fun for only 125...compared to Oase's rate of 200 for the same time. Also extra's like cim are only 25 compared to 50 in the frankfurt clubs. Anal is 50 compared to 100 or more (but less girls offer this due to the lower rate).

My airfare to Germany was only a couple hundred more than airfare to Montreal...have no clue why Montreal remained at 400 when i could fly roundtrip anywhere else in the states for almost half that. Car rental will be partially shared by another poster on this board so that helps a bit. I also plan on visiting a partytreff club to save a bit for the other clubs (pt's are clubs with one large entry rate usually 100 euros that include all the sex you can handle and they provide food and free beer).

As per you statement "20-30 eastern european babes"...that might be a tad low. Several of the clubs i plan on visiting offer 20 minute bookings for 25 euro's...figure at those clubs i can sample easily 10 to 12, plus the partytreff has 8 to 10 working and those are all sampled. Number im aiming at is 50, but i'll take low 40's as job well done . So to sum it up...yes you are correct, I will spend the same as i would in Montreal...but instead of two or three girls a day I'll be seeing three to four times that in Germany.

Because it's international travel. I would pay more in airfare for a flight from Bradley International in Hartford, CT to Montreal than I would from Bradley to anywhere in Florida. Which is why in my case it is a no brainer to drive.

That and the exchange rate are two good reasons to revive that thread you started about a United North America.

Should also mention airfare to Germany is fucking cheap in the winter, rates can be had for around 350 to 400 roundtrip. Went in January and the weather was very mild, hardly any snow and the temp's stayed right around 40 degree's the entire trip.

I recall April 2002, at one of the changers on St Catherine's, exchanged $700 US
    for $1106 CDN or 58%
I actually re-crossed the border with $ that time
I doubt we'll see such rates again

I recently read an economists report predicting that the exchange rate, Canada / U.S could be at par or higher by this time next year. As much as this is not good for tourism and exporting, it is excellent for travel and importing. There is a balance that will take place no matter what. Jobs lost in the export sector will be made up in the import sector. You are right as far as hobbiests goes, the u.s. visitor may, and I repeat may not spend their dollars here. The reason I say may is the simple fact that for those of you who have travelled outside of Canada, the SP cost is significantly higher elsewhere. It could be our turn to head south of the border and sample the delights there at a price which will be much more affordable

Unfortunately, to enjoy Canadian-style SP pricing in the US, the exchange rate would have to go down to 2:1, like the British pound. Or, as I indicated earlier, you could try seeing SPs in North Carolina or Alabama for equivalent Canadian prices (it's very hit and miss there though). But be careful; thanks to Bush's crusade against human trafficking, LE is more vigilant than ever.

The whole exchange rate situation is increasingly depressing, but what can you do... It's not gonna stop me from coming up, or stop me from spending money while up. The only thing it'll stop is the "over-exagerated" jokes.
