I find it interesting that MERB recently set an online viewer record with (reportedly) 714 online viewers on May 4, 2006, according to information provided on the main page. If I am not mistaken, the old record had stood since November 2004, and was set on the Wednesday before US Thanksgiving that year.

I find it curious that a viewership record was not reported on the other Board on the same day. MERC's view record was set 2/22/05. I had thought that at least most people, if they view one Board, then they also at least check the other Board, but I guess that's not the case. Perhaps Spiderman05 or someone has some stats on this or on Board hits.

In any event, here is a prediction: both Boards are going to set new viewership records this week - and it's going to happen on either May 25, 2006, or May 26, 2006.

Besides the number of viewers on line, I noticed another thing lately. Merb is no longer censoring the mention of merc on the board. I think that a hearty congratulations is in order for this and I wish that the other board would follow the lead set here.

I thought it was only MERC that censored out MERB... I don't remember MERB ever doing any censoring. I might have just missed it.

Sometimes when Yahoo and/or Google spider slurps are trolling these boards to perform their jobs, at the same time that there is a high readers or viewership numbers, they will at that time be included in the total numbers
The "most users ever online" figure relates to the number of users being concurrently online, not whether they are very active or not. My understanding is that each Spider accounts for only one user, a very active user yes, but still only one.

I think the figure being talked about here has been biased. In a separate thread a few weeks ago there was a discussion about this. A user is considered "online" until he/she manually logs out, or will be automatically considered "logged-out" after a timeout period, whichever comes first. If you look at the online screen and click on the "Last Activity" header, and then click on "Last >>" on the top right to reach the last page, it`s easy to see that the timeout is now set to 35 minutes. As so many members/guests can come and go in 35 minutes (hence timing-out), this figure doesn`t mean much IMO.

problem is it was in the early am and sources close to me tell me 713 of these were tony!!!!

Oliver,

I seem to be clue-less here. I see references on this character "Tony" in different threads at MERB. In a paragraph or less, who the heck is he? Thanks in advance.

Cheers,

Paulo
