I agree with Versaute's bullet points-

Warriors 3 point shooting game 7: 16 for 39, 41%
Rockets 3 point shooting game 7: 7 for 44, 16%

What those stats say is Houston is not prime time shooting the basketball, and Golden State is.........

Both semi-finals are going the distance 7 games.

It's a toss up in the East between the Celts and the Cavs.

However, the Rockets vs Warriors should see the Warriors heavily favored with Chris Paul unable to play due to injury.

Would have loved to see "the shimmy moves" between Paul and Curry ...unfortunately it won't happen!

Many thanks Versaute and EB for the stats...The turnaround in the series was Paul's injury in Game 5...the series was pretty much decided at that point as I pointed out in Post #30. It did not take a genius to figure out. However after replaying the whole game, the Rockets shot themselves in the foot in Game 7 blowing a double digit lead in the third quarter. The Rockets tried to put the nail in the coffin of the Warriors - who had been completely disoriented offensively up to that point - by throwing up a series of 3s that backfired miserably. That's when Curry and Durant took over and the game turned around in short order with the Warriors moving ahead for good. And that's what championship teams do is win the big games!

However, the Warriors will have to be more consistent against the Cavaliers (as coach Kerr pointed out on the post-game interview on TNT). The Cavs will slow the game much like the Rockets did in winning games 4 & 5 against the Warriors (when Paul was around to quarterback the offence).

It will be an interesting NBA final series...my money is on the Warriors.

I was very surprised that the Rockets made the Warriors look as disoriented offensively as the Warriors did in the 3 games they lost especially. The Paul injury hurt the Rockets very substantially as I thought he was not only the Rockets best player in the series but also their primary ballhandler.

Last year the Warriors beat a better Cavs team in 5. However LeBron James is playing at a level he has never played at, in fact nobody has ever played at. I think in the whole playoffs so far he has one game that could be considered less than superlative. One game! He has been lights out every other game, shooting, rebounding, passing, handling the ball, and playing incredible D!! The number of blocks he gets on transition breaks by the other team is incredible. I think in basketball when you have one guy playing every game at a very very high level anything is possible. But on talent alone the Cavs are outmatched, and if they win it would have to be considered a major upset.

I agree with your assessment EB.

It's also going to be a totally different series compared to the gunslinging Western Finals. The East typically plays a slower game and tighter defense.

It will be an interesting series to watch with a lot of strategy involved.

J.R. Smith Admits He Did Not Realize Game Was Tied

A very shocking admission from a professional player:

http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/...es-tune-game-1-blunder-ready-turn-page-game-2

Guys do sometimes forget timeouts/score and it is killer when it happens. I can remember when Chris Webber in the NCAA championship game's waning seconds called a timeout his team did not have and was assessed a technical foul. It was brutal to watch.

Yeah incredible and weird finish! Smith's bone head play was inexcusable and unexplainable! The blame should also be placed on LeBron James and Coach Lue.

LeBron is the team leader and being on the court he should have briefly huddled up Cavs players and told them what to do in case the free throw was missed.
Same goes for Cavs Coach Lue....Had they properly been aware of the situation, the Cavs could have set up a play with 3.5 seconds on the clock!

The Cavs deserved to lose that game period!

Furthermore, I can't believe that the NBA did not suspend Cavs T.Thomson and only fined him for those shenanigans...specifically shoving the ball in the face of Green and inviting Green to "meet him in the streets"!!!...Had it been the other way around Green would have been suspended based on reputation alone!. Definitely two sets of standards from the NBA.

Sharkman,

I agree with you - this is not exactly the first time JR Smith has made an inexplicable bonehead play and if you are going to have him out on the court, one of Lue or James should have called a timeout and huddled up the team so that they were all on the same page. Basketball games do get lost at the NBA and college levels due to poor game and time management. It actually happens very frequently in NCAA basketball. In the tournament last year a team which had a 12 point lead with around 35 seconds to go lost the game on a succession of bonehead plays. I never saw such an extreme example of bad late game ball and clock management but it’s a sport that is set up so that inside two minutes, astute game management is very important.

Total domination by the Warriors sweeping the series against the Cavs in 4 games. Pretty boring NBA finals.

Well deserved series win by the Warriors! That's 3 NBA championships in the last 4 years for the Warriors!

It was indeed a very bad final other than game 1 when the Cavs literally blew it. We've now found out that Lebron James injured his hand after that game while punching a blackboard. Not sure if JR Smith was hiding behind it when the incident happened.

This was Lebron's final game in a Cavaliers uniform. He'll be signing with a contender during the off-season in order to end his great career on a high note by winning an NBA championship.

Probably, Lebron wants to win as many championships as he can or rather more than Michael...

the city of Cleveland will understand this time, I guess...

LeBron is making $90 milllion a year including endorsement income. I saw this on the Forbes sports report. I believe Steph Curry is second with $80 million including endorsements.

Read somewhere that he has a lifetime contract with Nike...

He will make more than 90M$ next year, he will surely top the 100M$ in LA.

I concur Tiga...the Warriors have the "Dynasty" tag sealed for years to come...at least during the 4 years that LeBron will be a Laker.

The Lakers have a lot of good young players and they are not as far away from contention as you might think. If they can swing a trade for Kawhi Leonard and give up Brandon Ingram, they will be very dangerous. I think Moe Wagner could be a factor for them if he isn’t traded for Leonard. Spurs will want him.

Cousins To Boogie With Warriors

If there was one thing you could say was a weakness for Golden State the past 4 seasons it's that they have been heavily perimeter oriented and had no true low post scoring threat. That has changed with the signing of Boogie Cousins. Once he is back from his achilles injury fully, he is a dominant low post scorer and he will likely be told to stay there and not shoot 3s (although he can) because his 3 balls will not be needed with other personnel on this team capable of filling that need.
