Paul Simon and Bonnie Raitt... at a Jazz Festival? Blah... it's gone down hill. It used to be a great festival... now it's just what it is. They should drop the word Jazz. Andre Menard is a jerk.

You got a point there as far Simon and Raitt being at the Jazz Festival. But I would dispute that the Jazz Festival is going downhill. For Jazz lovers including yours truly, this year's edition is even better than last year. Wayne Shorter will be there with my favorite bassist John Patitucci. McCoy Tyner will also be making a rare visit this year. And I will certainly check out Brad Mehldau, this year's winner of the Miles Davis prize who'll be performing on 6/28 before the Jazz Fest. actually opens

Free Gifts

Just to let everyone know, if you buy $50 or more of Jazz Festival merchandise at the merchandising kiosk set up in front of the Hyatt on St. Catherine, you will also get a free official Jazz Festival CD as well as an absolutely fantastic commemorative book containing a photographic anthology of the Jazz festival going back to its first year, in 1980. The anthology contains pictures of Ray Charles and other legendary greats who performed at past Jazz Festivals.

Two T shirts will easily put you over the $50 threshold for these excellent free gifts.

BTW, I saw Paul Simon's band practicing and it was quite an experience.

This is the last weekend of Jazz Festival so enjoy it while it lasts.
