Grand Prix Weekend not profitable for sex industry

In contrast to this to what one expected, the Montreal sex industry did not do matters of now with the Grand Prix and the other activities of the weekend. The dancers bars would have profited from it a little, but not the escorts agencies. "The passed week was shit, the weekend also. There has just Saturday that was good", says a lady of Fantasy Escorts. According to her, the tourists attracted by the Grand Prix want very beautiful girls, that they would recruit now in dancers bars rather than in the agencies. "there are dancers that engage mannequins. That stole us at least the half of our clientele", does she say. Other problem: many girls come from Boston, New York or Vancouver for the Grand Prix. "On Crescent, girls that rented a room at proximity on this street distributed business ( !!!)cards directly on the street. The tourists do not know where to call. So They call those girls. They stole our customers", deplores the woman.

This is marginal competition said the organism Stella, who did not hear about this competition from the exterior . "there is some maybe, but it is marginal", launches the spokesperson Anna-louise. The weekend was not a lot better for the Ferrary escorts agency. "that was not good at all ” . I did the half of my sales of the earlier weekend", says a representative of the agency. "The Jazz Festival will be better for us", believes the lady of Fantasy Escorts.

Strippers bars

The stripper bars got more positives returns from their week end. To the Kingdom Gentleman's Club, that has just opened, some stars and formula 1 staff even came to do them turn. " We did not have so many Americans as that”. “We had tourists from Quebec We also had Europeans", says the owner, Pat Lemaire. "The Grand Prix represents about 30% of more of our sales. It is good, but this is not there that gets the most of our business. There is the Just to laugh Festival, that will hold itself just straight out, and the Festival of jazz. And the month of August, this always is stronger", he says. With Adorned, a manager confides
that for the downtown stripper bars, the Grand Prix is really synonymous of big profits, more than all other event. "This year, it was special with la Fete de La fete de la ST Jean at the same time. I would say that that gave 50%, 60% of more of sales. Just the Grand Prix, this of 40% to 50% of more", he says. "For certain lucky girls, this a lot more lucrative week end with the Grand Prix, but mostly, it is just a bit more lucrative ", concludes Anna-louise, organism Stella.

GP weekend & sps

I recently attended my very first GP weekend. To my surprise, most agencies i called had girls available whenever i called. Popular ones also. The only difference i noticed was that if you didn't book the girl right away, she'd likely be booked by the time you called back after checking with the other agencies. That's how i wound up missing out on some ladies that were on my radar when i originally called. I should have jumped at the chance when i had it. I did manage to see one girl during my entire trip and i struck gold. Saw her on my very last night there, as a form of GP weekend present that i made to myself. Some well-deserved and needed tlc, you could say. She had been on my radar for quite some time and it was the first time that i could see her as her first booking of the evening, so that's why i didn't waste time to see her when i heard she'd be available. I'll post a review of my trip (and the young lady) later when i have a chance to write it. Quite a weekend it was and i plan to return!!

Doc, you didn't find the crowds too much to handle? I'm not a big crowd lover so the thought of spending GP weekend in Montreal is not really something I'd consider. I like going into a bar and being able to order my favorite drink without having to fight with 100 other people for the bartenders attention.

Same with calling for a companion to spend time with. I always figured the traffic downtown all weekend would be at a standstill and wouldn't allow for timely dispatches to hotels?

I found the large crowd at the racetrack to be unbearable at times, especially Sunday after the race. We could barely move & it took me at least 2 hrs to get to the subway station. They'll have to do something to rectify this problem, or else they'll wind up with some heart attacks and heat strokes on their hands. As for the crowd downtown, i didn't come close to there. I was living about 10 minutes away and i wanted to go out Saturday evening. So, i hopped onto my horse and we headed downtown. However, the traffic all weekend was unbelievable and we were harness-to-harness for about an hour, barely moving and no empty parking spaces in sight. I decided to call it the night and head back to my hotel since i had to get up early in the morning anyways. The crowd on Sunday evening was acceptable, though...reminded of a typical friday-saturday evening. However, i did manage to speak briefly with an acquaintance of ours at one of our regular hangouts during the course of the evening. I think you know the young brunette i'm referring to. I later was on my way to go and meet up with my favorite peeler, but my two buddies who were in that area had just walked out when i was about to enter the premises.

Next year, i'll try to book a room downtown as early as possible and avoid driving my car and the traffic. It i don't, it will be the same story as this year. Stay in a reasonably priced hotel outside the downtown area and make my own fun. How about getting a group of our friends together and hold our own GP party at our hotel? During that particular weekend, getting the girls to hotels located downtown must have been a nightmare, though. I never thought of that. I stayed downtown on Sunday evening and the traffic was back to normal by then. I was even able to park my car along Peel before and after the race. As for Friday and Saturday evening, forget about it. Even my local friends refused to drive anywhere close to the downtown area. I found out why Saturday evening, as i mentionned.

Traffic

I drove to Montreal (heading East) on Saturday, arriving there at 7pm, and was amazed that from the 40 to the 15 to the 720 there was light traffic. It was a bit of a pain that some downtown streets were closed, but that did not cause major delays. The only congestion seemed to be on Ste. Catherine Street.

Leaving Montreal the same night at 11:30 there was a bit of congestion from the 720 accessing the 15, but beyond that again traffic was light. Again, I was amazed.

Again, the hotels have jacked up their rates for the Jazz Festival, but not to the extent that they did for the GP (the Sheraton $255 as opposed to $590).

I lucked out and managed to get rooms priced anywhere from $110 to 150 during the weekend. Of course, i had to drive into town in order to go out for drinks, meet women, or find a subway station in order to bring me to the racetrack. But it was no big deal during the day.....there were always parking lots willing to to fill their parking lots with cars. But again, a whole different story during the late-afternoon/evening.

I managed just fine.

Don't know about anybody else but I managed to get in 3 encounters with different ladies over the weekend. Like Doc I did lose out on one girl because I hesitated but I found a very capable replacement. I agree that beauty is at a premium these days and its in short supply but there is a lot to be said for service and attitude as well. In addition the most beautiful girls tend to cater to upscale clientele because they know they can charge more and wealthy men will pay happily. I did my homework and had a great time with three LDL ladies I had never seen before, some prettier than others, but all eager to please and fun to be with.

It seems hard to beleive that agencies lost business because tourists didn't know where to call. The phone book is littered with ads and the internet actually reaches foreign countries now! Basically anyone who made the smallest of efforts to research the subject would find more info than they could shake a stick at, thats not saying its all GOOD info but are we really supposed to believe its hard to find a website with some pictures and a number to call?

It also seems a bit far fetched to say that SC's took any sizeable portion of business away from agencies. I was in several different SC's over the weekend and discretely inquired as to "takeout" possibilities from several different girls who all insisted it was not something common in the big downtown clubs. I also patrolled Crescent and St. Laurent and at no time was I or anyone in my party approached by escorts passing out 'business cards.'

Perhaps the Grand Prix weekend kept a lot of regular visiting clients out of the city due to the price gouging campaign waged by the hotels and the fact that most downtown hotels are booked at least a half year in advance for GP. De La Montagne was booked solid less than a month after the '05 Grand Prix ended! I paid $570 a night with tax at a popular downtown hotel. Grand Prix weekend is not a time when normal everyday hobbyists are going to drive into Montreal for a weekend of hobbying. The price gouging, the traffic, the crowds, all make it hard for the average Joe on a budget to enjoy a few SP encounters. I also wonder if the Holiday had anything to do with business being down a bit due to family gatherings out of town.

I have to agree with you. I stayed at the Chablis for 2 nights and didn't see any sps walking around during my whole stay there....maybe one in the morning who had just woke up and went to the pop machine, but she might not have been an sp at all. When i arrived at that motel, i noticed many black people at the premises. For a minute, i began to think that i may have taken a wrong turn on my way there and wound up in Harlem. The next day, however, i found out the reason: they were all part of a wedding party and all stayed at that motel. They spent a good part of the morning taking wedding pictures outside on the premises. When i checked in last friday, the cute young girl at the front desk told me that they had many multiple-day reservations that weekend, mostly due to the GP and other engagements. I hung out a bit at PJ's (across the street from there) and not once did i see any sps arriving or departing.

I think Honest Abe hit the nail on the head when he mentionned that the craziness of the whole weekend might have kept the regular hobbyists away from Mtl on that weekend. Personally, just the GP alone exhausted me and took away a great part of my spare time and i had no intention of hobbying at all until my final evening in town, which was on Sunday. As i was regaining strenght in the course of the late-afternoon/early evening, i felt the urge for some good ol' tlc and came to the conclusion it was time to treat myself to a post-GP gift. I still wasn't 100% sure if i should or not but when i made one phone call, one of the girls on my radar was available at the time i wanted to see her. If no one interesting would have been available, i would have either tried my luck at one of the clubs along Crescent or leave town and later spend the night at a lady friend's who lives a few hours away. I went with the sure thing and boy, did i ever make the right choice! :D

The bottom line: i went to Mtl to spend the weekend at the GP and hadn't even planned on seeing anyone except possibly on my last night in town if the right person was available. I found the GP alone simply sucks up too much time and energy required to hobby. I saw one girl simply to treat myself to some female company & i lucked out that someone on my radar was available to see me on her first date of the night. If i wanted to see other sps during my stay, there were plenty of them available and quality ones at that! There would have been even more if the weekend didn't coincide with the St-Jean Baptiste holiday, which attracted many young women to QC on Friday and then Mtl on Saturday. I know of a few who had planned to take the weekend off in order to celebrate that event.

We're still waiting to hear about this gem you saw Doc. I'm quite curious as to who it may be.
