I plan on visiting Montreal later this summer and (among other things) I'm interested in checking out some of the clubs, as dancing is probably my second atf activity:cool:. Where are the best spots to hit? And on what nights? I am mainly interested in stuff of the funky/house/disco variety.

Cheers!

I'm 31. To be quite honest I'm not that concerned about the age of the people around me, so long as the music and vibe are both good and the dancefloor packed. (Well that's not entirely true-- I'm not interested in partying with kids, but they're not allowed in clubs anyway  ) .

Mooba's in Laval, Rosalie's on de la Montagne, Med & Buena Note on St-Laurent. You might also enjoy Globe.

Not the best places if you like to dance though...don't know about Mooba's, haven't been there.

There is a place called the Millenium Club that some SPs have told me about. They have a website but I do not recall the link. It's a younger crowd.

The Millenium is not and I repeat is not a guetto club! I do not even think the person who said that has even been there. Even to say that the crowed is young is totally bogus.

Yes, you will find young adults put there is plenty of 30 something individuals.

I say the crowd looks more about 25 to 34 year olds. It is MY favorite place to go party and to mingle.
WHY? The music is in. The place is cool the way it is set and my favorite part: the people are hot! As much as the girls and the guys!

The last times I have been out when I was a party animal was there. Although most of the crowed was very in a superficial you could not help yourself to be part of it for one night.
You will not meet your futur wife or husband there but you would surely have a great time with a one night or sometimes one week stand.

You want to party, go all the way out. Dress to please it is a place where people are friendly and flirting rules.

i must agree if you cross to the after club after 3you will encounter a younger crowed who have no better place to be.

Another club more in the downtown area is club 1234 on De la montagne where great music is played because it plays on the radio Saterdyay nights but I can not say what kind of crowed it is. It should not be that bad because clubs in Montreal are totally happening.

One that i do know of and that I have partied in is the 'Joy' club again in De la montagne near De maisoneuve especially on Tuesdyas where there is always an amazing D.J. Music plays on 95.5fm The crowed very adult but cool. (have seen alot of Mob looking suits there) Where the bartenders all look like models, definatly another good sign that the club is very cool.

Those are the places I miss the most in Montreal.

I must warn you Electric Avenue very kitch and stuck in the dico area crowed. A crowed that totally says 'I got a break from the kids tonight, it has been since high school I have not partied and it shows'. Plus attending a club with youngsters is a good sign that the place is happening.
I live for house music, enjoy.

Thank you BB, for your in depth and insightful comment! I checked their website and was very impressed (both with the music and the pictures). It seems I have found my place to go. A couple questions though: what are the best nights there? I am thinking of being in Montreal from a Tuesday night to a Saturday morning. Also, what is the best time to get there (to make sure I get in without getting stuck in a huge annoying lineup). I'm not necessarily looking to party with 30 somethings either, as younger crowds typically have better taste in music.

I live for house music, enjoy.

Me too.

Merci!

AE.
