Went to Hotwire.com expecting to get the Delta or even the Holiday Inn Selec but ended up with Le Cantlie Suites Hotel. I never heard of the place. Has anyone out there ever stayed at this place. I did a Search and nothing turned up.

Thanks

Traveller,

The location of the de la Montague is excellent but the bars are totally overrated as in my opinion the quality of the rooms. The place is decorated like a damned funeral parlor. Prior to the time that they put keys on the elevators, the Vogue was IMHO the premier entertainment spot. Granted you were looking at 299 and up most of the time although you could find some sweet deals including free room on New Years Day..:) but for the area there was not a better hotel in the area for entertaining guests. Le Germain, in a pinch the Sofitel are alternatives. Right now I prefer the boutique hotels in Vieux Montreal.

Thanks for the input. Dakull, you're pretty much right on. The room quality is way above Holiday Inn Midtown as well as the Wyndham. Actually a nice large room with sofa, queen size bed, kitchenette, desk, etc. All rooms recently remodeled with new carpet and wallpaper. On the downside, small TV and one single line phone. Still, a real good value for $62US from Hotwire (3 star).

I especially like the Saint Sulpice and the Saint Paul.

Suites at the Saint Sulpice with the gas fired fireplace are especially popular with the ladies. Free high speed Internet access, leather chairs, and lots of closets complete the picture in the rooms. Queen beds, though. Lobby and restaurant are very charming in any season.

The Saint Paul is more expensive and a bit more hard-edged with hardwood floors and chrome. Free Internet as well and king beds. Great bar with live music and a great restaurant.

Occasional specials can be had at either of these places thru the usual online agencies.

Reviews of other boutiques are welcomed.

As to location in Vieux Montreal, the $6-$8 taxi ride to St. Catherine's doesn't bother me, since loads of good restaurants are a short walk away.
