Question about the Hotel de la Montagne

Does anyone know if the Hotel de la Montagne has internet access? I'm not talking about just a hookup (as I don't have a laptop) but an actual computer for guests to use. Also, does anyone know of any good internet cafes in that area?

Merci!

I don't know if the hotel has computer's but there are internet cafes scattered all over downtown.

I think there is one on Bishop, between St. Catherine and Maisonneuve. Some Second Cup's also have computer's I believe...if Oliver was here, he'd be able to confirm it...

There is a small travel agency/internet café in a basement location on one of the streets just east of La Montagne--either Stanley, Drummond or Peel. Sorry, can't remember exactly which street, but the place is on the right headed towards Sherbrooke from Ste. Catherine. It's never very crowded and it's fairly cheap. It's open until about 10PM or so. It's better than trying to use a hotel's business center for internet access.

It's on Stanley. Not far up from St. Catherine, on the right as you go to de Maissoneuve. Right after the Chez Cora. It's got about 20 monitors. I think $10 gets you 3 hours of Internet access there.

There's one at Cafe Depot, corner of de Maisonneuve and de la Montagne, very close to HDLM, but they have only one machine.

Nope. No access to a computer at HDM. Other than single one at the nearby Cafe Depot, the closest computer(s) accessible to the public would be the ones located upstairs at Chapter's bookstore. It's about a block away.

Doc, they no longer have any computers upstairs in the café at Chapter's. But the internet café/travel agency described by me and EB above is across the street from Chapter's on Stanley (Chapter's is on the corner of Ste. Catherine and Stanley). I'm pretty sure that's the only place with multiple computers that is very close to La Montagne. It's the place that I use the most because of its central location. The place has no atmosphere and no coffee but plenty of computers.

CR,

I believe you are correct, as far as the Stanley Cyber Cafe being the nearest Internet Cafe to Hotel de la Montagne with more than 1 machine. The Stanley Cyber Cafe has about 20.

The only other decent Internet Cafe remotely in that area is the Battle Net across the street from the Hotel du Fort on du Fort, but that is a substantial walk of at least 15 minutes from the HDLM.

The Battle Net is open 24/7 but that Stanley Cyber Cafe is only open 9-5 Monday Friday, 10-5 Saturdays and closed Sundays. So if you need to access the Internet very late at night or early in the morning, you will need to go to the Battle Net on du Fort.

EB, I just called them ((514)847-5399 ) to verify their hours: they close at 5 on Saturday but they're open until 9 on weekdays. The travel agency closes at 5 or 6 but the internet cafe stays open.

Doc, j'en suis certain. They did away with a long time ago, sometime in 2005. I guess they were too much of a headache.

Yup, they did do away with them, but I believe they have wireless access now.
