I don't think McDavid & Oilers fans give a crap whether or not Draisatl ends up passing McDavid in points total. McDavid's injury means the Oilers may very well miss the playoffs again. They're currently not in the playoffs and every single point counts from now on.

I had a dream the other day about the Oilers. McDavid was hurt & he wasn't expected to be back until at least March. At a particular point in my dream the Oilers were no longer a playoffs team and McDavid was still at least two weeks away from a return. The dream felt so real that i wonder today if it wasn't a premonition since at the time i dreamt this McDavid was still healthy and playing and then a day or two later he got hurt.

Pastrnak would probably get 100 goals a year if he played the habs more often.

I just learned that Bruce Boudreau was just fired by the Minnesota Wild.

The NHL coach is an endangered species.

It's a good point EB. In other sports like Soccer the coach is much more respected. And it starts at a young age. When you are selected for the competitive team in a soccer league you need to salute and shake hands to your coach at the beginning of every training or matches (or at the end for some). And it starts at 8 year old. As far as I know it Hockey does not have this respect mentality for the coach at such a young age.

Hockey coaches in the NHL primarily exist to be fired at some point. They work under the blade of an axe. It’s a stressful, thankless profession in which welcomes wear out very fast and honeymoons end in record time.

And the Oilers are doing well without McDavid.

The Oilers did the Leafs a big favor last night by beating the Panthers. Hopefully they can keep their winning streak going later today against the Canes. Leafs play the Sabres later tonight.

What's happening is that Draisatl has said to himself, "I am the fucking main man player on this team now, and I am going to be the guy who gets 4 points and carries the team to 4-3 OT wins." And that is exactly what happened last night. Some guys are born to be main man players, and when others stand in their way, it blocks their greatness. We already saw this play once before in Edmonton, a long time ago with a guy named Messier. He had to have Gretzky leave the team before his true greatness was observed. He won 2 Cups as the undisputed leader of 2 teams - Edmonton 1990 and NYR 1994.

It will happen one day. Not sure when but it'll happen. Last week as soon as he learned he'd be out for a few weeks he got on the first plane out of Edmonton and headed to Toronto. This was briefly discussed on some sports talk shows who pointed out the optics aren't that good. But someone else pointed out it's not surprising considering that his family resides in the area and that's where his sports management team is based. That there isn't really anything holding him back in Edmonton so why should he stay around when he can't play? Someone pointed out the team's doctors & physiotherapists are in Edmonton and then someone else mentioned that maybe McDavid trusts the Toronto doctors & physios more than the ones in Edmonton.
