It had been a good site for, especially, LDH. I decided to donate some money and see what was happening.

In case you have also been wondering, here is my review:

Have I said it was dead?

Too bad, that was the best whoring site I have ever seen. Their moderation was nearly flawless, with almost no moderator inteference or censorship (I only saw it done twice).

And I gotta add, the MERB moderation is awesome also, as the mods are almost invisible (the worste moderation/interference is on TBD or ASPD; although the case can be made that the merb mods gave it easier because prostituion is defacto legal in Canada, so that they don't have to play games with words and phrases).

Canbest's organization was the best I have ever seen, for any board, much less a whoring board.

If the meathead at canbest ever decides to drop the pay format, it will give merb a run for its money. Competition is always good.

DR: The problem of canbest is that while you see little moderator interference, there is always 100% review and editing of posts. That means that there is no free flow of info, no quick exchanges. Everything has to go to head office for approval before posting, if you know what I mean.

It does mean that flame wars are nipped off without anyone every noticing, but it also means that valid and current info can be 24 - 72 hours behind, which often means questions unanswered and montreal visits screwed up for the tourist types.

Merb is getting better all the time. Heck, TERB gets 1 million hits a day, so MERB should keep growing too!

Four hundred someodd posts! Manabout town, that is rediculous. I never noticed your post count. That's some dedication. Many thanks for sharing your info and participating.

I gotta agree with you about canbest. The delay was always annoying. I also don't like it when flame wars are cut off. Free flow of information sometimes includes undesirable information, and it should be up to the reader to decide what is desirable and what is not desirable or useful. Flame wars are always good for some sort of character information; as they help me to decide whether or not I trust a particular reviewer's point of view.

I've only seen one post taken off of merb, and that was when someone tried to post a link to another competing board. Otherwise, the noninterference at merb has been superb. IMO, the best moderator is an invisible moderator; and merb comes closest.

I am an idiot, yes. Someone kick my ass.

I accidentally clicked on a button and went to my PMs. I didn't even know Merb had a PM system.

My apologies to the people whose PM's I ignored. It was accidental as I didn't know.

Checking PMs...

I have a lot of requests as to what strip club melodie works at. I have forgotten what the name of the club was. I am so sorry. I has been at least 8 months since she told me.

Like I said, I am an idiot.

That was one of the main problems with Canbest. Delta 9 didn't even interfere when he should have.

My biggest complaint was that he allowed impostors to use the handles of established posters. There was an asshole in Winnipeg who made many posts as "AVERY" (I posted for 4 years as "Avery"). When I complained, Delta 9 said that board rules didn't expressly forbid multiple users of the same handle. so he couldn't stop it. Even when I paid my $50 per 6 months, that asshole was still allowed to post. I've never heard of any other board where there wasn't exclusivity of handles.

There were other instances where posters alleged that certain SP's had AIDS and other diseases. There was no way to substantiate these claims (one was certainly false), and the posts should have been deleted, but they weren't.

Delta 9 didn't get it. Why should we expect him to understand that very few people are willing to pay for his board when others such as this one are free?

Avery, from a business stand point, a model has to be developed that allows both the users to like a site and for the operator to make money.

Canbest appears to think it is best to make that money directly from the users. I can tell you that this is the hardest way to make a chat board go, because it means that the people providing the content (reviews and comments) are the people also paying the bills.

MERB is based on the advertising model. The banner ads that appear at the top of the pages, and other less noticable things go to pay for the connection required to keep this site going. Chat boards are fairly low bandwidth things, overall, so it isn't too bad. The most important part is that thousands of people visit regularly, and many of them post - and those free posts are what creates the site.

Canbest model works rarely, the MERB one usually attracks quite a crowd, and the financial success or failure of the board is based on the ability to turn views into advertising visitors.

Torpedo: 400+ posts, yup... a bunch of chatter, a few good reviews, etc. I foudn a long time ago that expressing opinions gets others to do the same, and learn many things that way. If everyone is quiet, there is no discussion :)

Strip Club that Melodie works at...

I met Melodie, from Asservissante, in June 2003. She told me she worked at 'Chic', close by on Ste. Catherine (we were on Peel). So I believe this would be the 'Cabaret Chic' at 968 Ste-Catherine W.

Melodie was lots of fun to be with. She was young, petite, provided good service, spoke english well and no signs of a 'problem'. Me thinks someone got 'HSV type I' confused with 'HSV type II'. Check out the difference on any medical info site. A cold sore is not a VD.

Your analysis is largely correct, however, I beg to disagree on the bandwidth issue. Message boards like this one are very heavy on bandwidth use. See for example the usage stats at:
