I would only tip a lady who I had a good session with and had the intention of seeing again. As for a lady asking for a tip, it only happened once and she was one of the worst SP's I had ever met. CBJ to completion and then said that's it and she had the gaul to ask for a tip. i promptly set her on her way.

I used to tip all the time as I didn't want to seem cheap and in the hope that the escort would remember me and offer better service the next time round. However, it soon became clear that my tipping policy didn't make sense; for the most part, I tipped the standard 15% at restaurants and that was for the waitering staff whose income depended to a large extent on tips and there I was, tipping escorts when there was absolutely no need to. Also, it was unlikely that the escort was going to remember my generosity and if an escort needed a tip to offer better service, I would do better getting a different escort. These days, I tip only when it is clear that the escort has gone out of her way to please me since I would probably start feeling guilty otherwise. However, I have never been asked for a tip and if a larger percentage of non-locals are tipping, it is probably due to the abovementioned reasons, either that or the other non-locals place a lower relative value on money than I, i.e. I'm cheap and they're not, LOL.

On a related note, I usually order something from room service in addition to getting a bottle of wine from the nearby SAQ even for the lower priced escorts. That usually amounts to about CAD40-80 and I have always wondered; given a choice, would the escort prefer the money or the food and drinks?
I used to be schizophrenic, but we're OK now.

Tipping is not necessarily a bad habit..LOL..

I agree on balance with Francis Drake on the subject of tipping. This is a practice best left to the individual`s personal comfort level. If you feel it is appropriate, then you should provide a tip. It should neither be expected by the escort, nor should you feel obligated regardless to the circumstances, unless there is something you have done that may have caused the escort an undue loss of time or anguish. Moving the appointment at the last minute for instance may require some consideration. I will as a rule not feel obligated to tip an independent provider. She has set her price and hence has a built in amount for her tip. I expect to pay a flat fee, and endeavor to make sure that there are no hidden charges prior to the commencement of a session. I recall having a lady in the heat of passion inform me that DATY would be an extra 50 bucks. I terminated a 2 hour appointment after one hour and allowed her to leave with the full fee, making sure that she understood that tips for services in the upscale Montreal market are not reasonable and customary practice and in fact are not the mark of class. DATY is ordinarily included in a session fee, even at the lower priced market agencies. At a certain price level, charging extra for what is routine service is just plain tacky. As this was several years ago, 200 bucks was indeed a price level where I felt that charging extra for routine services was unacceptable. Particularly when at that time I would have refused to tip a LDL lady for ``extras``. If was part of her service then fine. I wouldn`t pay extra for it. She may find herself the recipient of a tip if I feel she has been generous with her time or effort. If the particular lady in question wants 250 for her services, then the agency should adjust her price. In this particular instance the agency could have accomodated her new price range, but must have felt she wouldn`t book at that price. In addition, the escort knows that if the agency knows about the tips, they`ll demand their share of the bootie..no puns intended..LOL. Even the famous Heartbreakers had such a policy, although they would say they don`t encourage their ladies to ask for tips. On the other hand if the escort doesn`t provide the service due to her own restrictions then so be it. If I feel short changed she doesn`t get another call from me and that information is reported in a review. But charging extra..a non-starter. What a shame too. Nice lady otherwise, but the mood gets spoiled when you wind up talking about money in the heat of passion. I called the agency to explain the circumstances. Although they were none too happy declaring that they did not encourage girls to ask for tips (although it was known that at least one other girl did regularly ask), to that particular agency owner`s credit, he slid an appropriate amount of money from the fee under my hotel room door that very evening. This is an incident that many may have reported on this board. To me this is part of doing business. Perhaps I may have been inclined to report the incident had the owner not acted in an appropriate manner. In fact the reason why I allowed the girl to keep the full fee was to demonstrate my good faith in the matter. The owner had a chance to demonstrate his integrity and did so by returning an appropriate amount of money. I did not ask him to do that. So if I felt somewhat miffed by the lady, I didn`t lose confidence in the agency.

As I come to know ladies I may find out its their birthday or a special occassion. If I know beforehand, I`ll even bring a special gift with me selected based on what I know of her preferences. I have absolutely no reservation to offer a little extra for them to buy themselves lunch or do with as they wish. On occasion I may offer them a small gift. It could be anything from a chocolate bar or chocolates to hypoalergenic moisturizer to articles of lingerie. I don`t consider the bottles of wine and/or refreshments I have on hand to be tantamount to be a ``tip``. To me this is reasonable and customary hospitality. I am not concerned with the fact that the agency takes up to half of an agency girls` money. They are ``losing`` that money by personal choice. In some instances such as the ridiculous 550/2 hr. price point, I am being penalized due to agency and/or escort greed. I certainly feel no compassion there. In addition these ladies are participating in an activity where they may typically earn an extraordinary amount of money as compared to their peers in society, one which is afforded them by the accident of birth.

Beauty, brains, social opportunity, and a good chunk of personality,
    are all accidents of birth.
    SoWhat,

It indeed would have been an accident of birth had my last name been Bush. It was not, nor am I blue blood, or from noble ancestry, yet still I am a "blood". I was the first in my family to go to college.

I stand by the premise of my statement. Women are afforded the ability to become escorts in THIS society largely due to their sex. Their are male escorts. They make peanuts are are noise level in the workforce. Prostitution is a woman's ultimate revenge for inequalities in earning potential in the workforce.

Frequent board members are well aware of my disagreements with EBS, but I MUST take exception to what was just stated by SoWhat, in his assumption that EBS earned his extraordinary amount of money compared to his peers, & that should not be a discussion on this board and further is no one's business and I'll go out on a limb here and state, for the record, that anyone making such a statement, makes such statement out of jealousy of another's situation whatever it may be !
    Stripperlover,

I appreciate your comments. I have to admit I was a little taken aback by the moxy of SoWhat. But I believe he has explained himself, although it is difficult to see his point. Mine of course would be that due to the structure of the sexes and our society, women have the pussy and men have the income to pay for it..LOL.

I think the problem that some have with tipping is the fear that it might become commonplace to the point that tipping becomes obligatory like the standard 15% at a restaurant where many if not most people are too embarassed not to tip even if the service was bad. In that case, the debate over tipping is just another version of the argument over overpaying which happens quite often in another board dealing with international hobbying destinations. In Montreal's case, the fees are more or less fixed with the tips being the only variable component thus explaining why some are so against tipping; in short, they're happy with the current prices and don't need partypoopers coming in and spoiling the escorts. The effectiveness of railing on the board, against the tippers, is suspect; maybe there's some sort of therapeutic value ......

I agree that refreshments are customary or at least should be customary since many lower-priced SPs are often surprised when offered such refreshments. But on quite a few occasions, neither the SP nor I cared much for the refreshments and it's possible that several of them especially the lower-priced SPs would have preferred the money instead given that CAD80 is roughly equivalent to their cut of the hourly fee. Ideally, the decisions on refreshments and tips should be exclusive of one another but that's rarely true for the more budget-conscious hobbyist. In any case, all this is for the most part, academic since cutting back on refreshments is kinda tacky and those who don't offer refreshments are unlikely to transfer the cost-savings to the SP in the form of tips.

    refreshments...

    Don Busch,

Refreshments need not be Veuve de Cliquot and caviar. It can be something as simple as soda, water, juice and chips or crackers. And if you don`t feel like it, you won`t know whether she`ll refuse a drink, so why not have those basics just in case. If one is willing to spend hundreds of dollars to pay an escort, I can`t see a reason why 10 bucks for the basics is a burden. Even a bottle of wine can be had for less than 10 bucks. I also can`t see how one would know apriori that they could dump money into a tip in deference to paying a modest amount for refreshments. How do you know the lady deserves a tip prior to the session. If you feel pressured for fear of being branded as cheap, it goes without saying you better have something around the crib to drink and/or snack on as well. It certainly doesn`t have to be a lavish production, but one should consider having at least the basics around. If you are entertaining a HDH, I can`t imagine how ``budget minded`` even comes to mind. Of course there are many of the lower end agency girls that are used of being groped and MSOGed and ed for 60 minutes. They are used of no tip so imagine the mileage availible if you just treat them as human, again something you`ve already alluded to. If all you`re doing is 60 minutes, a bare minimum single drink is quite sufficient. The point is that something should be offered, even if it is refused.

I`m in agreeement that refreshments should be customary. As for limiting it to a couple of sodas and crackers, I like to spend more since a bottle of champagne can add to the experience. My point isn`t that whatever money that`s not spent on refreshments automatically becomes part of the tip and vice versa but rather that there are situations whereby both parties are either no worse off or better off under an alternative arrangement. In the case where both client and escort don`t care for the refreshments, the client wouldn`t have been any worse off had the money spent on refreshments gone to the escort and the escort would clearly have benefited. It is similar to a situation whereby an employer offers a non-cash benefit which the employee doesn`t care for and the situation would be improved for both parties if the employer just gave the money to the employee instead. In the case of the hobbyist and escort, such an alternative arrangement would be complicated and probably impractical since both parties would have to know each other`s intentions beforehand. My doubts on whether the decisions on money spent on refreshments and tips are truly exclusive stems from the fact that many hobbyists have a fixed amount in mind that they want to spend on the escort fees, hotel rooms, refreshments, tips, misc. expenses, etc and assuming the hobbyist keeps to the budget, increased expenditure on one component will reduce spending on another component; this condition might not hold if certain components have fixed amounts attached to them. Obviously, the bigger the budget, the greater the leeway.
I used to be schizophrenic, but we're OK now.
