As many of you already know, I am back in school studying for my B.A., Majoring in psychology with a minor in sexuality. (I should be graduating this coming spring.)

That said for one of my classes I proposed a project where I need to interview several clients.

Everything will be done completely anonymously; I do not need your name for my interviews. Also you can choose not to answer any questions that make you feel uncomfortable.

Please contact me ASAP as my project is due on the 28th (I only got approval from the ethics committee this afternoon)

You can call me at 514-952-6629 or email me at [email protected].

Thank you so much for your help.

Hey Guys!

For those of you who participated last year I thank you.

This time it is an email questionaire. Less time consuming than a live interview but this time I have a few more questions. You can return the answers on a different email from the one send you the questions on for added anonymity.

This year I am redoing my survey for a class in research methods in sociology and once again need volunteers.

If you participated before you can do so again... in fact it would be most appreciated.

As before, you can call me at 514-952-6629 or email me at [email protected].

Again, thank you so much for your help.

An introduction to my project:

Over time, prostitution has gone through various degrees of social acceptance. Although much research has been done on prostitutes, little research has been done on her clients. This lack of research has allowed for many myths and stereotypes surrounding the client to be accepted as fact.

This research is being done as a preliminary attempt to clarify just who are the clients of sex workers, what are their attitudes, their motivations as well as their of safer sex practices. (and hopefully prove you are not a bunch of monsters! ;) )

Please answer as many questions as you can. You do not have to answer any questions you feel are too private (simply write “private”) after the question. I may send a follow up email to clarify any answers. You may reply to me using an email different than the one I sent your this questionnaire on for added privacy. Any and all personal information will be kept in the strictest confidence. Any identifying information will not be a part of the research project. Upon request I will send you a copy of my completed project.

Thanks to you in advance for your participation. Just send me an email ([email protected]) and I will send you the survey.

Actually T76, I did a similar research project for a women's study class recruiting here using my usual handle, and while it was tough, I did get it passed by the ethics committee (you should not assume it would not have been passed). By the way this is for a class in research methods in Sociology.

This project is a follow up project based on the initial research project I did last year. It was discussed with my prof and it was decided that my old project can be used as a springboard for this one. Yes he knows I am an active SP and that I am 'known" on the boards. I went through all this with him, as did all of the students who were doing active research on people whether by simple observation or by interview/survey.

In the past when unknown people have come here looking for interviewees, the overwhelming response is ""Why should we trust you?" "How do I know you are no LE or something?"

Those who did answer were strictly out call indy clients who are operating within the law as much as possible with virtually no info from incall clients who would be admitting to breaking the law. (I know this because every time when someone comes here looking to do research, I contact the researcher.) I also know that I already got a better response rate than they did.

By not hiding behind a fake handle, I am taking advantage of my reputation here to access some otherwise very difficult to reach people and information.

In the case of client research, there is no way to guarantee representativeness: It is a sample with unknown characteristics. Single time clients or very infrequent clients are unlikely to volunteer, or even be on these boards. Moreover, there is no way to know if those who avoid answering are different from those who volunteer to participate.

The survey will examine a self-selected sample consisting only of men with Internet access, who visit the Montreal erotic review boards. It would have been nice to post newspaper ads for example but due to time and money constraints, it is not feasible to post ads elsewhere to access a greater range of men who have paid for sexual services.

As for neutrality, if you have examined any existing research in the area then you know neutrality simply does not exist. It can be feigned, but it is still there and it is easy to spot.

This is a BA level research. As for publishing, to start with there will not be enough interviews done to make any statistical info relevant. This project is to learn research methods in sociology, it was never meant to be published, however those who are participating are welcome to a copy of the finished paper.

Out of curiosity, do you have specific criteria, other than having an internet access and visiting Montreal erotic review boards, based on which you select the clients to be interviewed? Reason why I'm asking is my offer, shortly after your seminal post, to undergo the interview went unanswered.

Ziggy>>>

The issue for the first project was that I was on a very tight time schedule, I had about 10 days to collect interviews and analyse them and put together the rest of my project so I kept things very small. (I still ended up handing in the project a day late! )

This project I have more time to collect data.

send me your email and I will send you a copy of the questionnaire.

My criteria is that you have paid for sexual services in the past.

SA>>>> You might be on to something but unlike Diane Fossey, that is not why I originally started SPing... :p

Read the questionaire

Traveler 76, If you read the interview, you will see that it doesn't matter if the person filling out the questionnaire is in agreement with Ronnie, knows Ronnie, or cares about her view point. This is about how YOU feel, and YOUR experience and opinions. By asking for people to participate through the boards, all she is doing is getting responses from people who either know her personally or know of her, and therefore know that she will keep the responses in utmost confidentiality. I encourage you and others to respond. It is an enlightening survey, takes about 1/2 hour to 45 minutes and gives you some interesting food for thought. Just like anything in this hobby.... have fun... it's only sex.
