Anyone who's read my posts knows I've opposed the war in Iraq from the word go. I've gotten into heated arguments over it.

But, I'm thankful for the sacrifice made by our kids over there and in Afghanistan, which sadly has become the forgotten war. They're brave and mentally tough in a way most of us not in the service could never appreciate. They don't choose their missions, and as the late Pat Tillman once said, by enlisting they lose control over their destiny.

I'm sorry for all the losses they have suffered, not only those who have died, but those who have lost limbs and those who have lost the ability to spend the holiday season with their family.

God bless, guys, you're appreciated.
