How about the two customers who stood, watched and did nothing? I realize the cop is a big dude but you can't stand there and do nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looked to me like one guy was calling on his cellphone (probably 911) which is the right thing to do. Since the cop was probably packing a gun, I think that was probably a wise course of action.

    Kepler,

There was no way for that guy to know he was a cop, as he was off duty, and not in uniform. It's almost a lock that he had no idea whether the dude had a piece. I am sorry but under those circumstances no way would I have stood and watched that petite young woman get pummeled. At a minimum he should have grabbed something and hit the guy or otherwise distract him. That woman could have been beaten to death. I would have have grabbed a bottle of Absolut, splashed some vodka in his face, and then whacked him over the head with the bottle.

    JUST Brutal

    http://www.myfoxchicago.com/myfox/pa...Y&pageId=1.1.1

This Link has Audio from the Bar ...........

    It shows 2 confrontations.
The 1st is when the Bartender tells the off duty officer he is shut off.
The 2nd is the Brutal Attack by the 6'1" 250 lb officer. The Bartender is 5'3" 130 lbs.

    http://www.myfoxchicago.com/myfox/pa...Y&pageId=1.1.1

The 2nd Link, talks about how someone tried to bribe the Bartender not to press charges. It also says the officer had a verbal incident with the man across the Bar, and the Bartender is trying to stop the officer attacking the patron.

***WTF, this is BRUTAL - Just think if the officer pulled his weapon***

Unfortunately, bad cops are not exactly a rarity either in or out of uniform. Look at the Montreal rapist cop in the news today for another current example. And in uniform some seem to have become masters at covering up brutality and blunders - unless their victim has some sort of celebrity (e.g.: Peladeau's daughter).

    Here's another question...

Where are the bouncers? Where are the rest of the bar's staff? Is she the only one working??????

    WTF is right!

    brutal attack.....but.....

she actually gets up and walks away from it all........you'd figure the way she was beat by the jerk she be out cold......he must not have much force behind his punchs even at 230lbs......typical cop can only do harm with the gun or night stick......if I was the cop I'd be embarassed by my acts and even more by the fact that the 130 lbs bartender got up after his beat down.

You're right, they should have intervened, it would've been the right thing to do, but they may have known he was a cop if they were both regulars. I don't know, but I'm guessing an awful lot of people would've done nothing, too...kind of sad, really

BTW, didn't you argue that interfering in a cop beating someone constitutes obstruction of justice and that for all I knew the UCLA kid, who was Iranian American was a gang member?...granted those cops were in uniform, and the victim was a man

    btyger,

What are you talking about????? Did you even bother to watch the video? This guy was an off duty cop who was not involved in a law enforcement action. He was drinking at a bar, was drunk and shut off by the bartender and then launched an unprovoked attack on her. Whether anyone knew who he was is pure speculation and not supported by any facts we heard or saw in that video.

Please take your nonsense to the frivolous post thread where it belongs.

I'll say one thing, that guy is lucky he didn't try to lay a beating like that on my wife. She used to bartend and once I saw her throw a drunken Russian bigger than Oliver into the sea. (Actually, she hit him with a chair and he fell over the wall into the sea. ) It was at that moment that I fell in love.

You're misrepresenting what I said again, but it certainly is possible that if they're all regulars, they knew he was a cop. I'm not defending them doing nothing, everyone here would like to think they would have intervened, but it's worth noting that the cop wasn't arrested until this became a major news story, weeks after the incident.

If this hadn't become a major news story, and the two guys had intervened, I can quite clearly see some ADA prosecuting them for assaulting an off duty cop. You know as well as anyone that juries are given limited information. Harold Fish knows, too. The truth gets twisted around pretty easily in a courtroom

WTF is it with coppers these days, a bunch of them went around beating up customers again:

    http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/03/25/bar....ap/index.html

And they're stupid cause most bars have CCTV cameras nowadays, so all their bullshit is recorded.
Good luck talking your way out of that one

This sick fuck should be fired and jailed for five years. It's inconceivable that a police officer acts like this. I am glad she was able to walk away and the idiots that stood there should have put him down.

    GG
