I recently got tickets to the Jazz festival. Now I gotta figure out the hotel situation. I saw the other thread on hotel bidding but that one is getting pretty long and I figure a new one just for strategies for these types of weekends isnt a bad idea. Anyway, I usually go with hotwire and in the past have been able to get the Hyatt for $70-$80, i think. But this is a diff situation with the jazz festival.

Im trying to stay for the nights of jul 4-7.
Right now this is what hotwire is giving me....
Downtown
4* $119
3.5* $93
3* $103
2.5* $82
2* $54

I think the 3.5* is the Hyatt??? Is that right? does anyone know??? Also I think the 2.5* maybe the holiday inn china town??? Can anyone confirm which hotels these are? What's the 2*??? That one is very affordable...

And I guess the main question I have about this whole thing is when there's a big event like the Jazz festival that your booking into what should you expect with these prices??? SHould I just grab one of these now or will they go down???

Thanks in advance for any advice.

oh crap, then I cant justify the 119 + the 16 or 18 bucks per night for parking there.

Thanks though

Do you know what any of the other star ratings are? Any suggestions on when to book?

Thanks

the Hyatt

If you're a jazz fan, the Hyatt is your choice. It hosts the Jazz fest.
Most of the shows tke place in front of the hotel on St Catherine.
At night they also organize jams. Most of the artists stay there and you're gonna have a ball.

If the Hyatt and those particular dates are your only options, then all I can say is good luck. I'm a regular Jazz Fest attendee and last year even though I made my hotel bookings on PL well in advance, the best I got was $95 at the Hilton Bonaventure. Unlike my previous stays there, it turned out to be a very pleasant stay as I got upgraded to a suite by the pond. So, I'd suggest that you cast your net a little wider in your hotel search during what is probably the busiest week of the year in Montreal.

Forgive me, when is the Jazz festival? Is there a slow time of the summer to come to Montreal so some deals may be had?
