Montreal Trudeau Airport

Just wondering whats the best way to get downtown Montreal from the airport? Is there a subway? Cab? Whats the expected fare? I dont think I need a rental car.

Thanks.

the airport bus is an option. its about $24 for a return ticket - takes you to the bus station on Berri if i remember accurately then theres a shuttle to the major hotels.

Take the Airobus from the airport. I think it costs $30 round trip and it stops at most of the major hotels. It leaves ever 20 minutes or so. Here is a link for the airport, you should be able to find all the details there:

L'Aerobus is the cheapest ($25 round trip) and also the most time-consuming. The bus only stops at a few hotels downtown. For other hotels, you get dropped off at the downtown bus station while you wait for a smaller shuttle bus to take you to your hotel. That smaller shuttle bus ALSO has to make a bunch of stops.

And it's just as time-consuming going back to the airport since the bus must make a bunch of stops before actually leaving downtown. Then, of course, it must deal with traffic jams on the highway.

If you've got all day, take L'Aerobus. Otherwise, I suggest spending $35 each way and get a cab.

Doesn't the VIA rail train stop near the airport?

VIA Rail has a free shuttle from the airport to the train station .... in Dorval, a 10 minute walk away. From there you can take the train to Downtown (or ottawa, Toronto etc...) To Montreal, the fare is $10. The downside though is that you have to adapt to their schedules. About 10 trains per day each way, so it may take a while to catch the train, but then it's about 20 minutes.

For the budget taveller, you can always take the 204 bus to the commuter rail station and then either the train (if you are really lucky..very few except in the morning) or the 211 bus. Expect to be standing for the 20 minute trip to Lionel Groulx metro.
