Oral sex (daty)

I know daty with sp's, especially the popular ones, have a very high chance of contracting a disease that's not visible in some people (e.g. herpes).

I was wondering if I should use a vaginal dam (a sheet-like condom used for oral) and if anyone has tried this before?
